Who's ready for a reputation reset?

Good thing it is.

I can't imagine the amount of reps the keep being given for posts in these "rep" threads. Kinda the whole reason a reset was needed.

I'm just as guilty for giving reps for hilarious posts. I mean who wouldn't give reps to someone who post an image of a hamster breast feeding on a cat, who is breasts feeding on a woman :) that's funny stuff.

If a post motivates, inspires, makes you think hard or makes you laugh then it's not pointless to rep. JMO

most of the ppl who are in this thread making fun and handing out rep points are ppl who are on here every day i have not rep enyone on this thread who i have not read alot of their post in the past and know their rep on this site

I'm not saying its pointless. I agree with you. Its just that it can get out of hand.

You among others, post some hilarious stuff that makes me laugh at a time when I in a ****ty mood.

Its for fun. Generally what happens is new people come on here and if they make one statement that someone doesn't agree with they get negged into oblivion and never come back. Its one of the reason I got rid of negs some time ago. I want people to feel welcome. We're here to learn, not have a rep circle jerk amongst regulars.

Now having said that, the regulars are the ones I generally will listen too when it comes to board issues....if they are polite. I might not respond to you, but I do have a list and a good memory :)

H2S is the only one who got any of my reps, as he put up some quality pictures for our viewing pleasures What did y'all do that's deserving of it?

And I generally won't rep back just because of the amount...however if you do something that makes me roll over laughing, or more often be the person with common sense in a debate full of morons, then you might get one :)

Negs I rarely do unless I really think you are being an idiot...except Mullet...he gets negged for being Mullet ;)

hey wyatt how was the rep reset determined? like is it a percentage of your original rep points or something

I completely agree with the statement that it could become a circle jerk, especially when a disagreement leads to, as you said, a member leaving. But, we do, and certainly you have seen this, run into new members that can be more detrimental to the community by entering it with a "YOU ARE WRONG, I AM RIGHT" attitude, which leads to them suggesting "yea run megaplexx 5 times a day, for pct, use water and sugar" type situations. This is where negging benefits the community.

BTW: Wyatt, please rep me :D

And this is why AM is the best board out there...

Agreed but for every one of them, you probably get 100 people who just sign up to learn and participate.

Mob rule sometimes trumps common sense and courtesy.

I think most of the regulars fall more into the category of slightly irregular

Not only can it be a rep circle jerk, but an a-ss kissing brown nosing extravaganza. It's fun to watch the suck ups and politics. I just wonder if people can see right thru it too?

I like to see negging available, but I don't know if I have ever even used it.

When I see somebody in the red, I go out of my way to read a lot of their posts and see why they're red. If it looks like they were done an injustice, I'll find a good post of theirs and send them some greens. It seems like most people that get negged deserve the act there of though, lol :D

Time you joined, post count, etc.....the same criteria that's always been implemented.

I reset everyone to the same amount then the algo took over.

I think i've used it twice. And I do the same, look at why someone is driven red and see if it was just that they said something contrary to GAB (generally accepted broscience) or whether they were a total moron, and rep if it was reasonable.

Then you have the opposite who are so insecure in real life that they feel the need to rebel on a friggin message board :)

The proverbial Internet martyr and savior.

I think the neg function is good and serves a purpose, but then again, you have those that like to slam their "e-penis" on the table in an attempt to validate that their opinions are superior in any given discourse.

As I said before, if you've been here long enough you know who the regulars are, and those that have the knowledge-base which adds to expanding the community of the board.

Thank god this place doesn't have anywhere near the childish bull**** that many of the other boards endure. It's because this place attracts those that are mature and willing to help their fellow man, woman, bodybuilder, and fitness fanatic out. You still have occasional bursts of morons that surface from time to time, but once they realize the demeanor of this board they either join the crowd, or drag their ass.

Yikes, you must really love the attention and falsehood. Is it better to be feared or loved? But yeah, you're right, it totally sucks. I wish I was more confident in life. A crooked tooth, man boobs and a small penis really makes a world of difference. If I had the money to fix these things, I would. Perhaps one day. However, thank you for your concern.

Derrrrrr... I would agree to that! lol

To me, AM is the "sane" board. Those from 'that other one' would get on my nerves far too often. I try my best not to show emotion in my posts, or atleast negative emotion and reaction, but sometimes it would come out. If I didn't have to be on that forum, I don't think that I would have been there as frequently as I have been in the past.

I come to AM because there are people here who are genuinely interested in both receiving help and giving intelligent conversation. From the vets to the newbies, it's just a different place and one that I whole-heartedly respect. I haven't said much of anything about it until right now, but last year when AX was going through "stuff" and we disappeared from AM, I got warned and it nearly broke my damn heart. I believe in what I do here, and the only reason I do it is because there were people that helped me out when I started and continue to do so today. Being told that I can't help really sucked, but I am very very glad to be back on here and able to do it again. Yeah, business is business and all that jazz, but it was nice to come back a few months ago to post again and be welcomed and told I was missed. To those who said it, thank you.

It doesn't matter what my "rep power" is, as long as I'm able to be here I'm thankful. AM is a good place and true to its goals. The only benefit I see to those dots is passing some on to those newbs that feel it is important.

I think this is a great discussion. Amazes me that the guys giving these opinions are the guys who I really trust anyways and have given advice too myself a time or two. I like the neg tab, but would also like a MOD hit on it so the mods see it and can determine the e-penis bashing or not. But... those guys are way too busy soooo... I vote we make John supreme dictator for the day to kill off all knobs and replace them with studs who know and generally love to learn about our sport.

I agree with new members coming in here and getting negged to death... I was one of them.

When I joined this forum I was negged to death instantly. It felt like I got stoned by everyone on here for one wrong thing I said. I was about to leave the site until EASYEJL repped me back into green over the same thing everyone on here was negging me about. Now look at where I am...

It's a very welcoming feeling to be repped especially when you first join the site. It's a great system IMO. Who doesn't like logging into their account to find out they've been repped?

it does make it feel a lot more like an actual community instead of the 'rape and pillage' as someone once put it over at bb.com The little rep pop up does make me feel all warm and fuzzy

btw chocolatemilk what did you just get repped for?

LOL at Chocolatemilks reputation :toofunny:

I remember the first rep I got was from Delta... miss that guy BTW. It was a great feeling as he explained he liked the post I made. I have paid that forward to others myself. I love seeing new guys on here with only a few post and repping them when they have made a contribution to the board and community as a whole. This is, IMO, how we make this board a better place and make the new guys feel welcome, as I was made to feel welcome by one of the best guys here on AM. Pay it forward my brothers!! :bigok:

I've repped a bunch of people into the green that were in the red just because someone didn't like what they said. There are those that do deserve it though.

He is sitting at 4 stars. He was in a religious discussion with Dunn, and unlike 90% of the people in religious threads, stayed respectful.

Dunn, where you at buddy, let's talk politics! lol jk jk jk

When I first got here, I joined in one of the "reputation circle jerks" but after the first reset, i didn't bother anymore. It just seemed silly and pointless
