I think AM Light is what everyone was used to before the change. My opinion is Light.

I would stay dark, or go middle... with AM light everything just seems to run together for me, and its bright as sheeeat...
 
I cannot believe I am the only one who prefers the light. Is my soul just not dark enough?

Dark for sure. Easier on the eyes and as far as the ads go, they pop. With middle and light the ads don`t come across well.

lol.... you're rating dark b/c of the ads?.. thats too funny... I dont know which ads you're talking about! :think: I'm sticking with the light version, it makes all the other content easier on the eyes
 
i like AM dark,

its much easier on my eyes to read with a dark background and white typing.

i def think you should keep it as an option, as different people are comfortable with a different style, but what originally attracted me to this side was that its dark and easier to read.

AM Dark. In the end, though, it may matter little which execution is used as default, as long as users have the option to select an alternative. The Dark produces an awesome contrast, though, especially on some of the new electronic devices.
 
i think that the option is a good idea. is there anyway that users would be able to customize the skin/theme to their own liking? Would make everyone happy that way.

AM Dark is my personal preference. I've experimented with each setting, but found the contrast of dark to light is best executed in the AM Dark setting (especially in a bright, office-like, environment).

You know, thats the MAJORITY so far voting on AM DARK. Looks different, easy on the eyes and makes the board sponsors ad's pop. Everyone is happy!

holy ****, middle and light make my eyes bleed. dark all the way...unless you change it to maybe black background, blue boxes, and orange lettering....

oh and your rep hammer shrunk a few zeros! :D
 
I still like the AM Dark, But the Am Middle is cool to. But in the end AM Dark I like the most.
 
AM Light

- it's clean(all the quote, edit, rep buttons aren't wonky shapes and font)

- it's easy to read(black text on a white background)

- the neutral colors help offset my aggression when on cycle :D
 
Dark all the way, I sit at work and the dark kinda looks like some of the programs Im supposed to be working on
 
Either AM Dark or AM Middle.

AM Light does not have the same buttons as the other two layouts, which will confuse a lot of folks. Also the Online, Reputation and Report Buttons are easily overlooked, due to their small design. The Reputation Icon is hard see and I personally am somehow less likely to click that small icon, it just doesn't feel like a button that would trigger an event. The other big thing about the Light I'd am not fond of is that some of graphics seem to be just not matching the light design, due to the fact that they were designed for a dark layout.

My vote goes to AM Dark, because afterall we are creatures of habit.
 
Might as well throw my dark, artistic eyeball viewpoint into this one.

After spending the last 15 minutes exploring the forum in different "lights", I'm a bit torn. Here's my take on each, FWIW:

AM Dark: We're used to it. I always prefer black, but sometimes the contrasting brighter colors and animations used in the ads - both supp ads and the pesky Google ones - is too much contrast. What I like is the "industrial" theme of it, but I can't say that I like all of the rather cheesy brushed aluminum textures used to separate posts and head ever separate box/post/section/etc. It contrasts with the actual background image of the forum too much - horizontal linear vs. a patchwork stamped steel look. It's just a bit much. Still, overall the black color is easier on my blue eyes, which are quite light-sensitive. Yes - sunglasses at night. :)

AM Light: Again, blue eyes = very sensitive to light. It does make the ads less harsh, but the overall brightness of the posting background is too bright, eventhough quote boxes are shaded slightly (10%?). The ad, banners, and such are all geared towards a black background and would need to be reworked to fit a white one. I don't know if you'd want to go that far - I wouldn't on any of my websites! Overall, the white background looks "cheap" to me. I visit many forums, because I have to, and the standard is always white. You can tell a newbie forum, or a single individual who owns the forum program vs. a corporate entity, by the graphics, layout, and often the skins. White = cheap, IMO. I think AM is much more classy than that.

AM Middle: It's a decent mix of both, but I can't honestly say that I agree with that either. If perhaps the whites were shaded a bit, and the shaded quotes and such were just a tad darker, I think it would be a more happy medium. Instead of being a mix of AM Black's background black and AM Light's thread area white, I'd rather see the "medium" option simply a lighter black or a darker light...if that makes sense. I don't like it being a mish-mash of the two.

Well, that probably didn't help much, but that's how I see things...

Good luck choosing a skin. It won't prevent me from coming back. :) :cheers:

im more of a fan for the light, reason being is some colors on dark are tuff to ready.. using light version, everything is clear to your eyes.. I hate dark ass web pages.
