Volcom's, Controlled Labs' - Look good in dem BLUE GENE(s), Sponsored Log

I forgot that this log had been going on for so long and no blue gene, Well it is here so lets get it going! Good luck Volcom!

Talk about a start! HUGE lifts too bro. I'm inspired.

I started out in a college gym, and that is where I learned to swallow my pride and do it right regardless of how the numbers on the sides of my plates look to the 'hardcore' punks. I gained 70 pounds in two years while those jokers bounced weights off their chest. It's too bad my current gym is no different... Nashville Athletic Club is certainly the most well equipped in my area that I know of (only reason I go there), but I am totally jealous of the comradery you talk about. I just go in, do my thing solo (I manage partial reps thanks to a huge variety of Hammer Strength Iso-Lateral machines, but still wish I had someone to help through some forced reps.) I seriously get strange looks when I do my stiff-legged deadlifts, too...

I have an order of Blue Gene coming soon as well! I've been looking for a Cissus product to help repair or at least releave the aching of stubborn ankle/tendon and back injuries, (20% extract is looking good), and with this I get sooooooooooo much more. Excited to see how you do on this.

Thanks guys,

I'll be keeping the Blue GENE bottle with me at all times, so in the case I need to workout at the Birds Nest, I'll be legit and good to go.

Bout time you put them Blue Gene(s) on!

Questions for ya, since this is a stim free product will you be adding any stims or continuing the use of any stims?

I am not even sure I can go a week without stims anymore. :(

Contractually (not a real contract, but part of the deal was), stark @$$ naked of any other supps.

However, it is not a "100% Stim Free" product "per se," it offers an indirect stim effect (without the use of traditional stims). Clearly, its not going to feel like Adrenalean or Redline, however, if all works as it's suppose to, the increased oxygenation of muscles in conjunction with increased circulation (and Carnitine is in the equation) would theoretically offer greater endurance once you start working out. Shorty following warm ups or the completion of your first working set and the systemic system really wakes up and the blood goes from circulation to Noah's flood mode, then the heightened all aforementioned benefits would create an increased energy, endurance effect, liken to the symptoms of a stim. So you sort of have to turn on the stim, rather then having a stim turning you on like a traditional stim supp (which like you, I LOOOVE. I'm a total stim junkie).

For the duration of this log, no other products, including stims, but yes, I do like a bowl of ECA and marsh mellow horseshoes and yohimbine berries for breakfast, but not for 30 days.

I love stims, but my stim tolerance is annoyingly high. Even Reset-AD only works for me for about 3 days, then I'm back to sprinkling ephedrine powder over my pancakes. I can never get back my stim virginity without just going 2-3 weeks cold turkey.

Edit: Just took my first full serving of Blue GENE; 60 min until opening day at the gym.

I'm the same way as you when it comes to stims. I hate it. I'm super tolerant; however, some days out of nowhere I will get jittery from just a cup of coffee , but most days I don't that even from 25mg E/200mg C

I've been abusing EC lately. The last couple of days I have dropped the Eph and just used 200mg caffeine. I have some SNS Synephrine on the way and I need to clear up my receptors a bit to give it a fair go.

Then I'll pry go back to a bowl of ECA and marsh mellow horseshoes and yohimbine berries for breakfast. lol

Day 1: Guts & Grit

Vagina Monologues: :whiner:
If it were any other day, I would have opted out of working out today. It was the first day where my day began at 6:00am. It's not that I've never had early schedules before, but this was the FIRST early bird day after a long summer of getting good, long sleep. I went from Internship, to school, to work. On top of that, I had to take a Tylenol PM last night to get to sleep, because the anxiety of waking up on time so early kept me awake, so I went to sleep really late AND the Tylenol PM is really detrimental to certain vital sleeping stages. I've been a zombie since 9am, its just the shock of it all, I'll soon adjust. Now that all the sand is shaken out the vag.

Scrotum Monologues: :head:
I have a strong sense of obligation to this log and to the product, so I knew I was going to hit the weights regardless. Years of discipline has established the ability to fight hard at all times, whether I'm up for it or not (if need be). There was no holding back or half @$$ing on intensity or even rest time, but it was an uphill battle because of my severe fatigue.

Bi's (the fullness thereof)

Hammer Db Curls
50lbs Db's x 12 reps
60lbs Db's x 10 reps
70lbs Db's x 8 reps

EZ Curls - Outside Grip
70lbs x 10 reps
80lbs x 8 reps
80lbs x 8 reps

Barbell Reverse Curls
65lbs x 10 reps
75lbs x 8 reps
75lbs x 8 reps

Standing, Bilateral Cable Curls
80lbs x 12 reps
90lbs x 10 reps
100lbs x 8 reps

Standing, One Arm Cable Reverse Curls - Suicide Grip
50lbs x 12 reps
60lbs x 12 reps
70lbs x 10 reps

There are workouts that you wish would never end and there are workouts that you can't wait for it to end. Today was the latter, but I stuck at it and didn't ***** out on any of the weights I used.

I had to include the Vagina Monologue section, to clarify that no product on the planet (well, maybe 400mg caffeine and 50mg Ephedrine) could have "energized me."

I was too overwhelmed with fatigue and the sense of being "beat up" to be able to step aside and evaluate or appreciate any effects. However, this is the FIRST day, and few things, with the exception of Stim's have a Dose 1 noticeable effect.

I walked out of the gym beat up, instead of head high and motivated, but this had everything to do with my own physiological and mental state. Nonetheless, I gave it all I would have, if I were feeling 200%, so day 1 is in the books.

I have a strong sense of responsibility to fully utilize and give a fair assessment of this product and I have an obligation to this log, so I'll drag myself into the gym rain, sleet or snow, hectic schedule or not.

P.S. One of my longest days during the week, will be starting from 6:00am and ending at 10:00pm, which I will workout between classes and maybe have time to run to the library and log.

Whaaaaaaaat? So it's bad when I take diphenhydramine? You just gave me something else to worry about. I really wish you didn't say anything.

On occasion might be alright, but this is my 4th night in a row on sleep aids. I was on 3 tabs, weaned myself down to 2, then 1 and last night was suppose to be cold turkey, but then I had that eary morning anxiety. It's been a stressful week!

Due to the knock out effect of sleep aids, you skip through certain stages that a normal sleep pattern would spend more time in and rejuvinate as needed in such relative stage. You reach REM sleep much quicker on sleep aids, but there are vital rejuvinatig stages prior to REM that your body benefits from.

POST WORKOUT HAPPENINGS

10 min post workout: Protein Shake; 65g carbs, 40g proteins, 0g fat.

50 min post workout: Japanese White Cod, Bamboo slices (slightly pungent), Cabbage, Japanese Sweet Yam.

I'm not Japanese, but I do love me some Japanese food.

Way to stick it out. We all have those days. That was me Wednesday. Good numbers regardless!

Thanks, I don't normally go THAT heavy on Db Hammers, but the 65lbs Db's were missing, and I always round up. It worked out alright, but it really taxed me. Ironically, and I suppose its a joint protection instinct, but the heavier weight I use, the slower I control the decent, so I was practically doing negatives with my final set, that's a real love/hate instinct.

P.S. This morning I weighed 212lbs again. Maybe that's closer to my true weight.

wow man. Im impressed you still worked out despite feeling like sh1t. So I applaud you! :clap2: If I get anything less than 8 hours sleep I refuse to workout. Just how I am. I am significantly weaker when I get anything less than 8. So like Jakpellet said you are a soldier Sam! Keep it up broski!

I've always been the same way. You have to push through those days. You always feel better about yourself when you bust through a workout on a day like that. The feeling of accomplishment is better than anything else.

Thanks, we've all been there, its just part of the process, but thanks.

Well we all know the Irish are known for their perserverence and grit, so I'd expect no less for you

Hell yes! All you can eat sushi for me on Sunday! I'm gonna get my grub on!!! :woohoo:

I fricken LOVE all you can eat Sushi. There are a couple of places around here where the Sushi is actually pretty quality, for all you can eat. They're regular sushi houses, where at a certain time, you can get the all you can eat after a certain time, but the charge is usually between $20-$30.

Top Three Sushi's
#1. Tempura Shrimp Roll
#2. Spicy, Crunchy Tuna Roll
#3. Volcano Roll (partially cooked salmon, but damn!)

I suppose those top three's aren't as gangster as a regular salmon roll or tuna roll. I love them too, but overall flavor wise, those top three I listed are seriously, like a party in your mouth [THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!]

It'd be a good death! My place charges $15-20 per roll. And volcano roll is my #1 :D

PER ROLL!!! I'm talk'n $20-$30 for the entire buffet. Who does the cooking at that restaurant?!? Musashi the two sword samurai!! Deeeaaamn. That's not cheap bruv, but we have Sushi Houses on every corner in So Cal, so maybe that's why our prices are a bit more competitive.

MUSASHI!!!!

$15-20 per roll is highway robbery!

I have the best sushi spot by my place. $4-6 per roll. EXCELLENT quality. I usually do 4 or 5 rolls. Spicy tuna, eel, salmon... Then there's this one really good all you can eat spot that only charges like $16. Not as good as the other spot, but for that price I don't think they've had enough people like me hit them up yet. I put away 6 BIG plates last time. Lots of ginger. Low sodium soy & wasabe. Yeah, that's how I get down! ;)

6 BIG PLATES!!! Damn!!! I think I normally go three, maybe four rounds of rolls and I'm toast, and I eat like an OX. You're one lean OX!!! I'm taking another 12 seconds to hate ...... ...... ..... damn man. I love the ginger and I love the soy and wasabi.

Ummm, I can't be the only person whose ever thought of this, but you know how Japanese Shrimp Tempura is stupid good..... Tempura Fried Chicken... BAM!!! You heard it first at AM.com.

In case you're thinking, "what about Chicken Katsu?" not quite the same thing, but your head is in the right place.

Snagency, make it happen.

I swear, every time I poke my head in this thread you guys are talking about food! I'm gonna get fat again if I keep following this thread...you guys make me hungry!

Tonight's workout.

I was considering what to hit tonight because I have DOMS just about everywhere. DOMS in the Chest, DOMS in the upper back (scapular muscles), DOMS in the lats, DOMS in the posterior delts, DOMS in the bi's, DOMS in the upper tri's, and a suspiciously unstable lower back.

This leaves me with medial delts, anterior traps and maybe the anterior delts. I have to move tomorrow, so I need to workout tonight.

I've been known to have Traps Days and I'm okay with that. I love developed traps & upper back.

haru haru in chino hills. 12 bucks for the bento combo w/ free miso soup and edamame(sp?). i love that place for a non-buffet style japanese restaurant. lunch is 10 bucks.

Don't forget to let me know if you and your girl ever try the Korean BBQ out in Garden Grove.

no worries. were probably gonna go on tuesday. right before disneyland.

was by CSUF today workin with my dad. i feel bad you guys have started already. i still have a month left of summer vacation.

Volcom I gotta try one of these trap workouts. As you know, I have the uneven traps. So Ive only been training my left trap. What would you recommend for a trap workout for my condition? Just left trap only workouts or just heavier weight on the left trap?

Day 2; First Real Supp Eval

Before you guys think I performing some Communist workout routine, my previous post describes how my entire body is pretty much in DOMS, with the exception of my anterior traps. Thus, today was a traps day, a forced workout almost, it was traps or nothing. Even my forearms are a little deuced from my bi's workout yesterday, so I did what I could. With that said, through this workout, i do have something to report on regarding my new Blue GENES.

Traps

Barbell Shrugs
225lbs x 20 reps
275lbs x 15 reps
315lbs x 12 reps
375lbs x 8 reps

Db Shrugs
90lbs Db's x 20 reps
100lbs Db's x 15 reps
105lbs Db's x 15 reps
110lbs Db's x 15 reps
120lbs Db's x 15 reps
125lbs Db's x 15 reps

Barbell Upright Rows - Close Grip
95lbs x 12 reps
105lbs x 12 reps
115lbs x 10 reps

What was the most notable today, was a shot of endurance, as you can see by the Db Shrug numbers. It wasn't my intention to go that many sets and remain that high in volume.

First note, during my beginning exercise, the barbell shrugs, I actually felt a little weaker then normal. I normally climb up to 405lbs before I get stuck at the 8 reps range. If I'm lifting for hypertrophy purposes, I don't normally drop below 8 reps, if I can't achieve at least 8 reps around the 3rd, 4th set, its time to move on. It wasn't until I performed the 100lbs Db's that I felt something kick in. As I theorized before, some of the effects of the supplement might require some waking up, meaning, once the cardiovascular system had time to get flowing, there would be positive effects in multitudes. Using the weight I did today is not uncharacteristically heavy for me, I consistently hit the 125lbs by the end of Db shrugs, but normally, if I start that low on the Db weight scale (with the 100lbs Db's), my numbers generally end up around 8-10 reps, by the time I hit 125lbs.

Also, right after I performed the 110lbs Db's, I felt a gush of blood enter my traps and they looked noticeably fuller and the muscle contour through the t-shirt was more prevalent.

My energy level is still a bit low, but that has more to do with the kind of sleep I'm "not" getting at this point in my stressful life.

Second Note. Lactate Threshold. We all know what the lactate threshold does and prevents. As lactate builds, the ability to contract diminishes, its that numbing feeling or "the burn" when you lift, sometimes the numbness will stop you from lifting, before your true muscle strength potential has been exerted. I felt symptoms similar to that. I theorized earlier that the compound effects of increased oxygenation and RBC circulation would have an effect in the likeness of supplementing with Beta Alanine. Also, if the biogensis of mitochondria (as proposed by the supplement) is effective enough, endurance adaptions should be taking place more and more drastically (or power, depending on the direction of your intensity/volume scheme). I mentioned earlier that mitochondria adapts and evolves to the stresses that the body undergoes. Mitochondria grow in size when the body is stimulated by power and intensity and mitochondria grow in number as a response to stressors of endurance.

I'll see how things fair when I get to do a "real" workout, like chest or back.

Higher volume on the left trap, higher repetitions (10-15 reps), more sets.

Keep up those one arm, smith-barbell shrugs on the left side. You can still perform regular Db Shrugs and regular barbell shrugs, but add in those one arm, smith-barbells, to your left side. Like an extra 4-6 sets, 8-15 rep range on top of a normal shoulders or back day where you normally perform shrugs at the end.

sounds good. Thanks man.

I'm always amazed at the high level of awareness you have of what's going on in your body.

I've been noticing that with Gene too, the pumps and also endurance kick in during my workout.

:goodpost: This is why I'm so glad you invited me to sub to this thread! Information! Good info at that. I'm a member of several other forums, as I'm sure a lot of us are. And you can't beat the amount of incredibly useful information that we have here at AM! I have guys from other forums asking me to check out so and so's supplements here on these forums to see if they're any good. This is known to be the information center of the forum world! Great stuff here in this post Volcom. Apart from all the resteraunt reviews that is!!! LMFAO!! This thread is going to put weight on me if I'm not careful!! HA HA
