It can be manifested by perfectionism, such as an inane insistence upon getting all the minutia correctly. It is most often characterized as either "cleaners" or "checkers". Checkers get an idea stuck in their head such as "Did lock the door? I know I did. But what if I am wrong? Then someone could break in and murder my wife and kids...................." All this cognition creates ever intensifying anxiety that compels the victim to finally give in and check the door, only for the obsessive thought of "Did I lock the door?" return. (the obsession). Cleaners are people who suffer from the same cycle but it is more related to cleaning and or germ phobia. Many, but not all OCD peope can be Perfectionist. Some insist on "A place for everything and everything in it's place" and any kind of deviation from that standard becomes intensely uncomfortable to them. Then there are the really wacked out one's who develop ritualistic behaviors, say counting by two's for fear that if the stop, something terrible is bound to happen. I once read of a man who insisted that if he failed to use 2 matches at a time, a plane would fall from the sky and hundreds die in a fiery ball of flame.
Gee...and I was the verbose one lol
