I did not want to train tonight. It was just one of those days where I was grateful that the drive home was long. I thought and I cried and consumed myself in my own pity. I got home about 5:45 and just contemplated about training, telling myself that maybe tomorrow morning would be better. I knew I wouldn't get up in time to train, it was just a lie so I wouldn't feel so bad about not going.
8:30 came along and I forced myself out the door. I went to the gym close by instead of my normal gym. I had a good arm and shoulder workout and as I was finishing up my hammer curls, I noticed that a guy kept staring at me. He was trying to read my tattoo.
After a few minutes and straining his neck to read my tattoo, he finally came up to me. He asked what my tattoo said and I told him that it said "Carpe Diem". Then he asked me if I competed because I was so freaking strong. I said, "no, I just train to train and I'm not very strong anymore." He said, "well damn, that's a lie cuz you're freaking strong and look at your quads!"
Long story short, he started telling me about his life and how he lost his wives to cancer and accidents ( he's on his 4th marriage). He talked about all his trials and tribulations, his heartaches and losses, and most importantly all the good things that he's been blessed with (he must have been close to 70 years old).
I told him that I didn't want to train tonight but something dragged me out of the house and everything that he was telling me, I needed to hear. Before I left he told me that I had an awesome personality and to just please LIVE and enjoy life.
I couldn't make this up even if I tried. I don't know, God has his way of relaying his messages....
