Carbolyn is awesome, however you can probably pick up some dextrose powder at a supermarket and do very well with that, and any starchy carb source.
I defiitely wouldn;t call white bread toxic, if anything there are more problems associated with whole grain breads than bleached and processed ones. Especially when the actual goal is to create an insulin spike.
Yes low glycemic will be usefull in your situation, just put some high glycemic stuff in there too in order to get that insulin spike going.
It is in the initial part of the feeding but yeah pretty much shouldn't be seaking them out. Easily digested starches and sugars are definitely the go to!
Have some fruit right after training or with your pasta binge, the sugar from the fruit actually increases either insulin spike or sensitivity. I can't remember which one right now but the point is the fruit will make the carb load more effective. I think it has to do with the sensitivity though, not just the spike because of course adding sugar to a carb meal will increase the insulin release.
This is exactly what I told him earlier, that he is one carb load away from being big full, and looking leaner than he thinks he is. Being flat sucks and isn't great for the ego but with those refeeds when everything pops it is very rewarding.
