I did attempt a pic but I don’t know the first thing about posing!

Looking good! A common issue most have with this shot is not allowing yourself to pull up with the arms ao they hit parallel. That will also help you open up the lats vs scrunch the upper back. Basically, try to flare wide. That's how I think about it at least.

I do add natural sea salt to my water to help and carry a vial of salt of needed.

I honestly believe my training improved after incorporating electrolytes into my intra-WO daily. Plain salt will probably do just fine, but I'm a believer!

Maybe so! That’s good to know it’s not just me! If you don’t mind me asking, how long was her recovery between mastectomy and restoration?
the mastectomy was dec 5th and she got the spacers at that time. those things were hard as rocks. I believe they kept her home from work for 4 weeks, but she was feeling pretty good after about 2. the mastectomy recovery was much harder than the restoration surgeries. I would carry her pillows from the bed to the couch, then the couch to the bed, and be her nurse, helping her find comfortable positions, taking care of the drain tubes etc. Now that I think of it, she was very uncomfortable for that 1-2 weeks after the mastectomy, the restoration not so much, she recovered much faster from the next 2 surgeries.

we went on a vacation sometime in Feb so I believe the follow up and final restoration was either late feb or early March when we got back, I seem to remember it needing to be like 60 days apart. The first time didn't go great, one of the implants was sliding up on her and a bit uncomfortable so she had it redone November of that same year (2024 I think) and everything has been great ever since. In my opinion, after about 6+ months as everything settled it also looked (and feels) much more natural, too. The very first surgery she took the oxy they gave her for I think 2 days (10 day rx). the second surgery, she took it for 24 hrs (another 10 day rx), and by the 3rd surgery she didn't take a single one after I got her home from surgery. I don't know if she just has a crazy high pain tolerance or what...

Ahh good pointers!! Thank you!!
I agree! I tried the electrolytes first but the taste/sweetness would make me nauseous oddly enough. Thankfully the salt does have trace minerals in it though. I use the Baja gold.

She sounds like quite a trooper!!! That’s quite a process but glad the last 2 weren’t too bad!

she's a tough cookie. we only had tears twice really during the whole process. The minute before anesthesia (turns out her only fear in life is not waking up, lol) and then about the 1 yr anniversary we did a breast cancer walk she organized, and the emotions from the past year came out like a waterfall and we realized we never had a chance to get emotional about it cause we moved so quick from bad mammogram to mastectomy in a matter of appointment filled months, so finally with a clean bill of health a year later, I think we had the chance to actually process the experience.

Sorry life was busy yesterday and I didn’t make it on here to post. I typically rest on Wednesdays and “sleep in” until 5:45 instead of 4:15 but we have plans Friday & I won’t be able to go to the gym. So I just did M,T,W,Th workouts this week.

I was right about the allergies or whatever, I have been coughing a good bit the past 2 days and pretty hoarse today. Energy levels are still decent enough to push through my workouts though!

Wednesday Workout-Upper body

Circuit
Pull-ups 12,10,10,8,8
Hanging toe touches 8x5 sets
Push press 45x8, 65x8, 85x5x3 sets
Alt. Leg raises w 25lb plate 23x4 sets

(I varied the hand position some on the pull-ups from wide to more narrow…I even been noticing more girls adding in pull-ups the past 2 weeks! Makes me excited! )

Supported Tbar row
+80 x8x3 sets

Superset w
Push ups 3 sets of 10

(Idk what the starting weight is for any machine. I just know what to add haha)

Narrow cable row
120x8x3 sets

Superset w/
Kneeling cable crunches
65x8x3

DB Shoulder press/lateral raise Dropset
35x12,10,8,8
10x12, 5x15(front/side with the 5’s)

Superset with
Reverse Flyes / Face pulls
2 sets of 85x12 / 2 sets of 42.5x12
(Since I’m super setting, I don’t block my secondary spot so if the peck deck is taken, I do face pulls)

Thursday -Lower body

Circuit
Squats
45x10, 95x8, 135x5, 155x5x3 sets
(These felt good today. I know I could go heavier but I really just focus on form and will throw in pauses instead of adding more weight)

Hanging toes to bar
5 sets of 8-10

Stiff leg deads 95x10, 115x10x3 sets
(I use a riser on these to get a good stretch since the bumper plates are larger)

Conv Deads
205x5x2 sets
(I did these alone and rested about 90secs between sets, I save these for the last leg day bc the soreness interferes with the rest of the weeks training)

Bulgarian Split Squats
24kg kettlebell x 8x 3 sets
(I just started adding these recently testing the waters on how my hip behaves and it felt pretty good today. The first set I had the KB on the working leg side and it felt more quad focused. I swapped sides and it felt more glute/ham focused)

Walking lunges
80x12x2 sets

Smith Hip Thrusts
270x8x2 sets
270x8, 180x12, 90x12 Dropset
SS w/ plank toe touches 3 sets of 8 each side

Cable kickbacks
20x12x2 each leg
(I do these with my non working leg crossed over and my working foot in dorsiflexion )

Overall good workouts both days. With legs, I try doing more single leg exercises in order to help correct years of “protecting” my right hip. I can tell there is a good bit of compensating, misalignment still there that I can’t seem to fully correct. I have found a good massage therapist that does some crazy deep work that helps a lot (when I go )

What an incredible story though!! I’m so glad she’s healthy now!! I can totally see just pushing through everything and not allowing yourself time to mentally process things! That’s good she was able to let it out though and allow everything else to fully heal inside and out!
