Beta-Alanine - Losing its touch?

Ive noticed the average board member is no longer including BA in their daily stacks. Are people just tired of it? Tired of the tingles?

I dont think it was/is a phase ingredient, because creatine is still a go-to. Just curiosity getting the best of me

I agree, natty. I always consider Beta-Alanine in the top 4 staple supplements for a basic bodybuilding stack.

Agreed.

I'm still using it and will continue to. Probably just a matter of other things getting hyped up or people just not knowing enough about the basics, but it's so cheap to get and easy to add into other things like shakes or pre-workout drinks.

Luv me some tingles!!

i consider it a staple, maybe thats why people dont include it in a "stack" when suggesting them on a forum.

BA is a staple... love the tingles..

I'm using here it based on Mr. Cooper's dosage (SNS 501caps). I also enjoy the tingles. I split my doses out to 4/day and on workout days I take some before. When I feel the tingle kick in you know the rest of whatever you took for a preworkout must be kicking in as well.

i still use my sns BA, switched backed to 2 caps twice daily vs 1 cap 4 times daily....

When i first started supplementing BA I loved the tingles but grew to dislike them over time. I would feel itchy all over for about 10 to 15 min. I then noticed slight nausea so i stopped using it all together. Its still in some of my pre's (Ultima, White Flood, Flashover) but i dont supplement it directly everyday anymore (say with SNS caps or Anavite). I did love the endurance on it tho.

Absolutely love it. Wont go without it.

I think the reason it has disappeared as a standalone product is bc it is included in so many preworkouts people either choose not to supplement in addition to their pwo or, in my case, forget to lol.

A meta-analysis on BA showed that bodybuilders likely won't benefit from BA for performance, as it increases workout performance for exercises in the 60-240 second range. HOWEVER, beta-alanine consistently and significantly increased workout capacity, allowing bodybuilders to do more sets without losing intensity. When evaluating BA, look at your overall training sessions and your ability to push yourself harder and longer, rather than individual sets where you may notice a strength increase (as with creatine).

I never leave home without BA :) anything from 4.5g to 6.2g for me and I'm beasting it in my workouts!! :bigok:

Interesting. When I used it steady I don't think I used it in a way to get the most of it. Maybe I'll try again since it is so cheap and backed up scientifically.

This is exactly why I use it. Even most of my sports specific training is of shorter duration so I don't notice acute effects on a given set, but over the duration of an entire workout I notice less "fatigue".

I also think most people don't include it because it isn't a "sexy" ingredient and it really does take some time for it to build its effectiveness. If you look at many stacks on here people spend more money on something "exotic" and skip on basics IMO. I also think people miss out because they assume they are covered by their Pre-workouts (as tons seem to have BA) but I would say most don't include high enough doses of it.

i do 3 grams ed.......

Wasn't is supposed to be more effective along the ranges of 3.2g and 6.4g? oO ^^ well no matter , as long as you have it!! We have to have BA in the staples haha , after all thats why they are STAPLES :D!

This is absolutely what I notice - being able to go at a high intensity all throughout the length of my workout.

also usually a staple supp for me as well...which usually lends itself well to forgetting to mention it, whoops...:ponder: I do notice the added endurance when running it consistently...but ya, BA not mentioned a whole lot as of late...

I still have a huge tub of bulk ba, took a month off, started up last week with my agmatine and CM.

and here it is!

Interestingly in last Saturdays edition of The Times here in the UK, there was an article entitled "Team GB's diet secrets" about our Olympic team in the run up to London 2012.

On the subject of turkey meat and prawns being two of their staples rather than chicken or fish, I quote:

"Turkey breast contains one of the highest concentrations of the amino acid Beta Alanine..." then it explains what it is and then says "[BA] could allow the athletes to work at a higher intensity for longer... You need about 4g a day to get the effects."

This was an English Institute of Sport nutritional specialist. Then it goes into quite some depth (for a national newspaper) about the results of studies done on BA.

I showed the wife, (smugly I might add) who is always sceptical about such things, especially when it comes in a tub!

Should be a staple.

I use it pre workout and intra.
I've tried using it on off days but the tingling drives me insane if I don't go to the gym.

lol. Im trying to outlive that ban they gave you over at BB. What exactly did you do? Still don't know?

I violated rep rules when I was not a rep as per the rules that they laid out. This was BEFORE the rule change (they actually changed the rule because of me, but then didn't overturn my ban ). I don't know which post was in violation and I couldn't find anything in my recent history. Not a single mod or admin that I messaged had an answer. Throw a one year ban on top of the rest of the BS and I think their intentions speak for themselves
