Log of Unparalleled Dimensions: Viking & Irish Take On Controlled Labs

My intra-workout drink is about a half-gallon, maybe a little more. My pre-workout shake doesn't have a whole lot of liquid to it. Should I dump all 6 scoops into my intra-workout drink?

Naw I think you splitting it up is good. Try to get at least 2 gallons total per day

Weight - ?

Green MAGnitude flavor: 4/5 - still pretty damn good !
White Flood flavor: 1/5 - the taste is awful ! Just to get it over with, I mix 2 flat scoops with 7-8 oz of water and chug it.

.. today was nothing special, but I kind of expected that. I got up @ 9AM (5 hours worth of sleep) and decided I had a bunch of stuff to do, so I actually rose out of bed. Popped 6 caps Xhilarate (2 sample packets), and got stimmed out as $hit for quite a while, but as a result, I also crashed upon the effects fading .. went on a 60 minute walk with my dog at 11AM, sweating considerably. Then crashed @ 12 for about 30-45 minutes. Regained some energy around 2PM, and at this point, I had to drive my car to Midas car center to get an oil change and new brake pads, and had to run back home ~2 miles. Then @ 4.15PM, I had to run the ~2 miles back to Midas to pick my car up, go back home, mix my White Flood, and hit the gym @ 5PM. We had 74-76 HUMID degrees today, so I've been walking around like a fountain all day. I knew all the activity of the day would have an effect on my gym performance, and it was not a positive one.

.. right now I'm literally CRASHING; partial result of lack of sleep, but also because I kept pushing myself through every god damn set I had on my workout plan for the day. EVERY ONE OF THEM ! I'm beat, nauseous, want to lay down, close my eyes, order a pizza and re-load .. Will post a little later.

.. side notes: as expected, two days in a row, my stomach's been UPSET AS HELL ! I will NOT continue doing WF + GM pre-workout, merely WF pre-workout, and GM post-workout. Too many potent ingredients at once in my stomach wreaks havoc .. My stomach hasn't settled in over 24 hours now .. four bathroom breaks pre and post-workout. NOT good.

Nice workout.

Good idea about doing the GM post. The magnesium in it sometimes upsets peoples stomachs, so splitting up a dose can be an option too (half pre, half post.)

A little Controlled Labs supp update:

Since I did fasted cardio I didn't sip on any BCAAs or GlycerGROW during my workout, but I put it in my jug and have had a little of it so far. I can already feel muscle expansion from the GG. It's really quite incredible how this stuff makes you feel. I feel pretty pumped up even though I haven't lifted. It's nothing like how you would feel after 20 sets of bench press, but I can definitely feel a difference from my normal state.

I second that brother. It comes in handy during the summer/beach months ! ! ! :D

Ughhh!!! My calves are sooooo stinking sore! I can't walk normal...I have to lift my entire foot off the ground rather than push off the ground with the balls of my feet.

Deciding whether I'm going to do cardio today or not. If I do, I'll really have to do some stretching. My legs are very tight.

I checked my weight this morning and I'm at 174.5 (+2.5lbs). I can't remember the last time I had checked my weight, but I'm sure it was at least two weeks ago. Perhaps some final muscle recovery during my time off lead to some LBM gains. I really don't see how I would have put any fat on during my break. I only had one cheat meal, and it was probably under 300cals. I ate LESS than I normally would have, yet I was still eating every 2.5-3hrs and kept my protein high. I have definitely noticed I've felt thicker and larger up top. I guess some of it can be water, but my vascularity has actually increased, so I don't know. I expect some of it is water, but I have reason to believe that most of it is muscle.

I am waiting for NP to announce it's christmas sale, then I am putting together the ultimate pre-to-intra-workout concoction and I've been trying to decide whether I want to go with GG or bulk GMS and Taurine. I've used both with good success.
It's a formula that I'll be mixing up for myself as well as some friends and family maybe.

GG has the electrolytes, but with the bulks I can mess with ratios. I dunno...

Day 4

I finished Meal 1 (since it's a cardio day, meals 1 and 2 are switched) at 9:30am, hung out on AM for a little bit, did some stuff around the house, and then at 11:30 I had Meal 2 (2 scoops of Lipotropic protein) along with one scoop of GreenMAG three scoops of GlycerGROW, and five BlueGENE.

I made my intraworkout drink with two servings of BC+EAA and three scoops of GlycerGROW in 32oz of water.

On long duration cardio days I like to let my protein digest and basically be on an empty stomach when I get to the gym, so I waited for about two hours before starting up cardio.

I did 23mins on the stairstepper, had half of my drink, and then did 22mins on the stairmill and then finished the drink. HR was at about 165 the entire time. I had a real good sweat going.

I'm feeling SO good on this Controlled Labs stack. It really is quite impressive. Everything works so synergistically together. It's great. I can't wait to toss some weight tomorrow. Back/Bis/HIIT!!!!

I'm really glad to hear this. That's why I wanted a "stack" log rather than a single product. The synergy between the products is fantastic.

And dude I can totally relate to the calfs hurting. LOL I try to train my calves on Friday in case that happens, I hate the constant "Did you hurt yourself?" inquiries :)

You ain't kidding.

Hahahah. Ya. I always get looks, too. My brother laughed at me yesterday when I almost fell over getting up from the sofa.

Day 5

I had an excellent workout today. It was Day 1 of my routine which is Back/Bis/HIIT:

Bent Over BB Row: 2 warmup, 6 working
Standing Lat Pulldown: 2 warmup, 6 working
Rope Hammer Curl: 2 warmup, 6 working
CG EZ-Bar Curl: 2 warmup, 6 working
HIIT: 12 intervals (+2 from last session) @ 30/30 on Spin Bike

The entire workout took me a little longer than I had hoped, about 1.5hrs, maybe a bit longer. I think I'm going to start supersetting exercises two and three in every workout. That should help to shave about 15mins off of my total workout time.

I had an awesome pump throughout the entire workout. I felt extremely filled all over. I'm still noticing how great it feels to be lean. I just feel so much better.

I realized this morning that I still have about 1/4 of a bottle of Napalm left, so I'm going to just use this prior to HIIT until it runs out. I figure I may as well use it up. I hate the way that stuff makes me smell, but whatever. I've got it, so I'll use it.

I made a couple diet changes today...

1. Oats (steel cut) in Meal 2 are going to be cut from 1/2 cup to 1/4 cup. I know I originally planned this just for cardio days, but it will be for every day now. Keep in mind that steel cut oats have about 2x the amount of carbohydrates that rolled oats do, so 1/4 cup is equivalent to 1/2 cup of rolled oats (~30g carbs).

2. I will be adding about 3oz of chicken to Meal 2.

Day #5:

- 40 minute run upon waking; outdoors in 10 degrees. Let me tell ya, and experience that I'm hoping to get used to, because AM cardio makes me feel good all day long !

.. I'll be continuing with daily morning sessions of cardio, alternating running and swimming. Today's running, tomorrow's swimming, and so forth .. Gold's Gym here is quite large, with a big indoor pool. I'm doing this to vary the form of cardio, but also utilizing swimming to see if I can't start healing my shoulder and elbow joints; they're not in good condition.

.. I've been using USPlabs Supercissus the past 3 weeks, and I must say, I'm very disappointed; there's been no bettering of my joints @ 2 caps AM and 2 caps PM. I chose Supercissus over PAL's Incarnate because my joint pain is worse now than last time around with Incarnate, and I figured that a 'pure' Cissus product would work better than Incarnate's Cissus + Beta Alanine. I'll be going back 'to my roots' and jump on the Incarnate again ASAP. My brother's got a 4/5 bottle of it here, and I'm considering just picking it up from him and continuing on ..

.. only goes to show; stick with what works for you; there's no reason to switch it up unless you're hitting a plateau or if effects are diminished/reduced.

As for my Road trip;

Saturday, left @ 2PM. Went North through Dallas, Oklahoma City, Wichita, and Salina. Got to Salina, Kansas @ midnight, and I kept popping caffeine/stims in order to make it further than I had before in one sitting. Kept going, West on I-70 towards Denver. 1AM, still going, 2 AM, not going strong, 2.30AM, I realize my head is playing tricks on me; sleepiness + over-abundance of stims in my system had my vision and perception out of whack. Had to pull over the road 3 times to regain full consciousness! 5AM, Texas time, or 4AM Mountain time, I ended up in Burlington, Colorado, and I checked into the third motel I came across .. crashed big time as I laid down.

.. Got up @ 10AM, on the road @ 11AM, and drove 200 miles to Denver, then hit the ROcky's .. Crappy driving conditions + NO functioning windshield viper fluid = nightmare ! Sludge and dirt across my windshield, and I was practically BLIND 5-8 second at a time .. scared the $hit outta me. Got to Grand Junction @ 5PM on Sunday; equalled 6 hours of driving .. Plus 15 hours of driving on Day #1. 21 hour road trip by myself; never again !!! The last two trips up here I had my ex girlfriend by my side, and let me tell ya, I missed the hell outta her next to me for those two days !

Awesome brother! Swimming is such an underrated form of exercise..

there's been no bettering of my joints @ 2 caps AM and 2 caps PM.

Well.. here it's all in how you dose it bro. For the immediate timeframe & level of relief you are looking for, try this:
1 cap 10 minutes prior to every meal, 5-6x daily. This should help; if needing more relief (or wanting serious anabolic effect as well) then move to 2 caps w/ every meal.

I am confident this will change your outlook my friend.. ;)

Bro 2 caps 3 times a day, is the only way it works for me, , try that out for size, i noticed nothing until i dosed 3 times per day.
Good log guys, Russian

The beginning of your trip sounds very similar to a drive I took this past March. I got stuck in some crappy airport in Tyler, TX because of some storm. I was supposed to be going to Dallas and the airline kept changing their mind on when we were leaving. Then they wanted to pack us all in a bus and drive us to Dallas. Then they said, no, the weather is fine so we'll fly...Then they said it got bad again so they'd wait and see. After constant BS I just said screw it and rented a car, took that same drive because I needed to get to Omaha, NE. Stopped in Wichita to crash at my brother-in-law's sister's place for the night, and then finished the driving the next day.

Lookn great guys!

Irish how many days worth do you think the Napalm has left?

Appreciate the dosage advice, bro ! Now I've got to see if I'm able to muster the additional costs. @ 6 caps/day, it'd be an additional $60/month, for what I consider a staple supplement alongside a Multi and Fish Oil. I wouldn't even dare to consider the cost of 10-12 caps/day ..

.. I added Glucosamine/Chondiotrin end of November, and this had not yielded any effects/bettering of my joints either. I realize these products take time to 'work,' but I'd consider 4 weeks enough time for it to 'build up' in ones system, so I'm kind of worried about the amount of joint pain I am experiencing.

.. Hoping that the amount of Cissus in the BLUE GENE will benefit me shortly, and I'll make sure to note any effects on this issue.

Try taking Primaforce if Supercissus doesn't do the trick. SuperCissus is 10% ketosterones and Primaforce's product is 40%. Just a suggestion. It seems like different people have to take different Cissus products for it to work correctly. It doesn't seem like one type does the trick for everyone.

30-40% of the population receive no noticeable effects from the Clucosomine/Chondroitin combo; the next step in this line of combat would be adding in MSM and perhaps Hyaluronic Acid.. it can get quite pricey..

I'm right there with ya -- been battling some tenderness in my knee for awhile, and the only thing that's helped me is mega-dosing the SuperCissus. When I run the aforementioned protocol, all issues dissipate. I am currently running this dosing as we speak, and all issues have been alleviated..

As for the Primaforce info mentioned: their version of Cissus is 500mg per cap, whereas USP's is 750mg per cap. I have no clue where they're sourcing theirs from; USP's is patent-pending..

Not knocking the product, just some clarification. I have never tried that version. No need to -- I know what works for me..

Day #5

Leg Day . . . failure !

Barbell Squats
Warm up: 135 * 20, 225 * 15
Working sets: 315 * 10, 365 * 4, 365 * 4, 315 * 10
Widowmakes: 225 * 20

Close-stance Leg Press
Working sets: 450 * 12, 450 * 12, 450 * 12

Lunges . . . failed . . .

Notes:
- don't ever hit up the gym in the Mountains and try to hit it as hard as you did before you entered the mountains; I learned my lesson. First off, after two warm up sets on squats, I was heaving for my breath. The air here is so thin, and I'm simply not accustomed to it yet .. as a result, I was taking 30 deep breaths after every set, and not even then was I able to breathe normally. Still, my cocky a$$ self aimed high, skipped 275 for warm-up, and pushed myself with 315 for 10. . . then 365 came up, and my lungs were on fire, and I was dizzy already. On the 4th rep, on the way up, my piece-of-$hit belt busted open, and my spine received one helluva pressure. I managed to get the rep up, but my spine ached. BAD! Next couple sets, I tightened the belt as tight as I could, but I was very fearful of it happening again, and severely f*cking up my spine.

.. 365 for another 4, and it was NOT comfortable. So after two sets, I dropped to 315 again .. this time for another ten. That set lasted an eternity, but I pushed myself as usual .. NoT clever, but cocky. Originally, that was it for me, four working sets .. but my DC-a$$ decided a set of widowmakers would be brilliant at this point, even though I still didn't catch my breath. Got my brother to stand behind me, in case of worse-case-scenario, and 225 on the bar .. up, down, up, down .. ten reps .. feeling sick, pressure in my head, PAIN, up, down, up, down .. rock bottom EVERY rep . . 15 reps .. 5 more, motherf*cker .. . up down, up down .. 20 reps, rack, hang myself from the barbell, seeing double, even triple, dry heaving like I just ran from a K9 . . F*ck, headache - the way-too-high pressure kind of head ache I ONLY get from leg day . . . severe, painful !

.. hit up the leg presses, 450 was already loaded, close stance, pump them out, all 12 of them. Quads were shaking .. head ache throbbing .. managed three sets, but f*ck, how painful. Everywhere, and head ache worse and worse, as if I had a pressure I needed to relieve by drilling a hole in my skull. Sat down on a bench upon completion, considering the lunges coming up next. . .

.. grabbed 30s in each hand .. 6 reps each leg . . FAILURE .. threw the DB's down, laid down on the bench, and laid there in pain and agony .. trying to get over the head ache, but with NO luck .. had to call it quits .. went home ... ached for another 45 minutes .. I'm now recovering.

I rarely ever call it quits in the middle of a workout, but the few times I have it has ALWAYS been because of a nasty headache. When you've got one of those things pounding at your brain, you can't do anything but lie down.

And I know what you mean about that air. I puked the first few days I spent in Breckenridge.

Lifting as well as daily activities get sooooo much easier when you get rid off that extra bit of non functional weight Invalid Link Removed :donut:

True, man, true !

.. it doesn't matter how motivated or determined you are; with a throbbing headache, you're done .. Especially on leg day, it's an impossibility ! This is the third time or so on Leg day that the head ache caused me to stop early .. I feel good about what I accomplished on squats, but I'll be doing hamstrings tomorrow . . don't want to skip a whole week !

Agree, higher dose of Supercissus should do the trick. I posted this awhile back in Russian's log. Just my 2 c.

' The higher the % of ketosterones, the higher the anabolic response (eg. Primaforce cissus). Lower % ketosterone cissus is more suited for tendon/ligament strength and health (eg USPLabs Supercissus Rx). Therefore, which cissus are you going to choose, depends entirely on your goals."

Jacob posted this:

When you increase content of one compound in the herb you lose other compounds. IF I where to release our 95% keto extract, you would not get any other synergy from the compounds except an anabolic or anti catabolic response.

Cissus is fused with natural vitamins and minerals that provide a natural delivery system to the injured tissue. Cissus is working by several mechanism and by concentrating for just the keto content you lose the synergy. In research, the keto sterones reduce cortisol. There MANY cortisol lowering supplements that have no effect on joint health. The keto sterones in research have been proven more powerful than deca and d-bol. Is d-bol good for joints?no.

Many Many Many users get longterm relief from tendonitis and related injuries that do not return when they discontinue use.

The best dosing method is:

Morning
pre training
Night

Could you not just use a lower dose of the higher extract?

IC, think about that statement for a moment, in the context of D-Fly's above post..

If you use a lower dose of the higher % ketosterone product.. are you not then just receiving even less of the tendon/ligament/health benefits that form of cissus contains?

Day 6

Another great day in the gym, minus the lengthy aspect. Once again, it took my longer than normal. I'll have to figure out a way to cut my time down. I am doing about ten additional sets from my previous routine, so fifteen minutes for ten sets isn't too bad, I guess.

Today was Chest/Tris/O. Lower:

Since Viking is giving numbers, I guess I will too. Don't expect them to be anything impressive, but also keep in mind that I do very slow and controlled movements. I really don't do any explosive positives or negatives.

Chest
Incline BB Press: 135x21,21 145x14, 140x13, 135x12,12,12,10
Upright Cable Flies: 10x18,17,15,17, 12.5x13,14,14,14
(the weight setup on this machine is weird, it sounds light, but it's really not)

Tris
CG Bench Press: 95x19,18,16,13,15,12,13,12
OH Bent Rope Ext.: 50x20,17, 60x16, 65x13,15,13,12,13

Olympic Lower (I don't go to failure on the warmups. I don't want to involve hypertrophy training at all)
SLDL: 135x12, 225x8, 275x5, 315x3, 325x2, 315x3
Squats: 135x15, 225x10, 315x4, 335x3, 325x3,3

As you can see, my numbers are a little weird. I'm not too worried about it, though. I seem to be reaching my goals, and that's all that matters to me.

Pump was great, especially in my triceps. All of the Controlled Labs products are really working amazingly. I can't wait to see where they take me a little further down the road. I've already decided that I'll probably be using GlycerGROW as a staple supplement after this log.

You paint such a vivid picture with your words. An excruciating picture, but still. It sounds like you went through Hel and back during this battle. I know it sounds cliche, but "that which does not kill us..." You know!!

Rest up and come back strong. I know you will!! :head:

I second this. I always start to ache when reading Viking's workout posts.

Shoot man... a shift in altitude is serious stuff, I'm not surprised you got a headache. Just be glad you didn't puke or blackout during those squats.

Hahaha, I have never been this close to it .. without passing out or throwing up. I'm wondering how my balls-to-the-walls training nowadays compared to that of past gym encounters in my early 'era' of bodybuilding - i.e. high school and first year of college .. Obviously, my body's adjusted to the kind of pounding I give it, session to session ..

Day #6:

AM-Cardio: 30-35 minutes of swimming in the pool.

.. upon completion, I sipped on 2-3 scoops of GlycerGrow with some OJ. I'll second Irish's notion regarding the volumization effects; I mean, $hit, I got a PUMP going just swimming !! I notice increased vascularity and hardness as I'm sitting here typing this, and I nearly feel like I completed a whole workout. What a great feeling !

.. I've got Chest coming up tonight. Supposed to be Back/Trap day, but since I'm here with my older brother, I wanted to be on the same schedule as him as far as training, so he'll be following my program starting tonight as well.

Should be fun having some friendly competition with your brother. Take him to school, Thomas!! :bb3:

the Purple Wraath I won from the Review the Review promo just arrived - they sent the big 90serving tub! :woohoo:

I'm actually gonna save it a couple of weeks and use it during my recomp with everybody's new fave - glycergrow :D

Nice! That's awesome, Resolve! Sounds like a good time. You can be perpetually pumped like Thomas and I.

Since Viking is giving numbers, I guess I will too. Don't expect them to be anything impressive, but also keep in mind that I do very slow and controlled movements. I really don't do any explosive positives or negatives.

Why not?

As for comparing you & Thomas, no worries dude. There's only about a 50lb. weight discrepancy there.. you're more than holding your own.

New fave?! I've LOVED glycergrow forever!

I seem to benefit a lot more from slow and controlled movements; however, I should clarify...I WILL use explosive movements on the last rep or two if I need to, and feel I can crank out a couple more. :)

Weight - ?

.. so, I'm wearing FOUR layers of clothing; a tank top, thin under armour, a thick, long-sleeve Under Armour, then a T-shirt. And Gold's Gym classic -> fans on FULL, any sign of sweat, and you're F*CKED !! So, I found it necessary to add a 5th layer; a fleece jacket, wore it throughout my workout. Like I said, I don't respond well to the cold; it's ruined quite a few workouts, and I'm SHOCKED to find Gold's in COLORADO with fans on full, and temperature on 68-70 degrees. This is a warehouse height gym; it's COOOOOOLD !

.. this, alongside of awful joint pain ruined my first half of my workout. Incline Presses felt HEAVY! This ANGERED me, considerably. I nearly left the gym. No pump, felt weak, ugh, there's no worse feeling than that. And my MP3 player was out of battery when I headed off for the gym; let me tell you, I realize it's all MENTAL, but I NEED my music; I NEED my beats; it gets me fired up every time. Without it, I'm like a soccer player without cleats .. F*CKED !

.. Somehow, on the second set of 100s on incline db presses, I managed 10 reps, as opposed to 6 reps on my first set. I even increased the incline-angle for my second set, and got 4 more reps. I also used my brother's iPod for this set, and had a hardcore techno song playing, so I know there's something to it.

.. Nothing spectacular to mention yet again. I won't blame much on the thin air, but the cool weather isn't working with me at the moment. I was able to get a pump from my wide-grip Hammer Presses and the superset at the end, so I did a little posedown. My brother mentioned I was looking leaner than I have in a year; I was pretty damn pumped, I must admit. Nice shape on the pectorals, abs leaning up, THANKFULLY, and looking pretty full. Got to give GlycerGrow some props here; there is CONSIDERABLE differences in volume and fullness since incorporated, and particularly immidiately post-workout, but it's also well maintained for hours afterwards.

.. Joint pain is bad, and I mean BAD. I'm oblivious at the moment, I don't know what's wrong. I don't know what to do. I realize I'll be aiming more for shape and symmetry than hardcore strength feats, because my joints are obviously fed up with the way I treat them. They've taken a beating the past couple of months .. but why it's so much worse nowadays, I don't know. Perhaps the cold weather .. I don't know, but I realize I've got to get serious about my swimming/water activity treatments, and do all I can to keep my joints somewhat safe and healthy..
