THANK YOU!! I tried to rep but I have to apparently spred some around first LOL, saving the whole list![]()
I trained this way for about 10 months. I don't feel I got anything out of it. No size, weight gain, or strength. But... everyone responds differently.
if you want to try something interesting after the epsom salts you can try this

same stuff that the topical magnesium "oil" is made from. has a lot of interesting effects, including raising serum DHEA levels

, WOW! 10 months is a long time to keep trying something that isnt working, I plan on 16 weeks and if nothing then I will ditch the idea. I never committed to something like this before so would like to see how it is for myself. My favorite year round style is the conjugate method and if I am doing linear periodization it is 5/3/1 but this is something I have been meaning to try out. Like you said everyone responds differently right
A lot of people seem to really love that mag oil, let us know if you end up trying it Josh, would love to hear your thoughts on the product.
Because of it raising DHEA levels, its particularly beneficial for the over 30 crowd, but has other benefits too.
i use the magnesium oil but i find it somewhat inconvenient. for some reason i get this white residue powder once it dries on my skin so I have to do it either before a shower or wash it off afterwards.

Objective: Current dietary guidelines recommend adequate intake of magnesium (310–420mg daily) in order to maintain health and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. Recent evidence from animal and clinical studies suggests that magnesium may be associated with inflammatory processes. The objective of this study was to determine whether dietary magnesium consumption is associated with C-reactive protein (CRP), a marker of inflammation, in a nationally representative sample.
Methods: Analysis of adult (≥17 years) participants in a cross-sectional nationally representative survey (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999–2000 [NHANES]) who were not taking magnesium or magnesium-containing supplements. The primary outcome measure was high sensitivity CRP (elevated ≥3.0mg/L).
Results: Among US adults, 68% consumed less than the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of magnesium, and 19% consumed less than 50% of the RDA. After controlling for demographic and cardiovascular risk factors, adults who consumed <RDA of magnesium were 1.48–1.75 times more likely to have elevated CRP than adults who consumed ≥RDA (Odds Ratio [OR] for intake <50% RDA = 1.75, 95% Confidence Interval [CI] 1.08–2.87). Adults who were over age 40 with a BMI >25 and who consumed <50% RDA for magnesium were 2.24 times more likely to have elevated CRP (95% CI 1.13–4.46) than adults ≥RDA.
Conclusions: Most Americans consume magnesium at levels below the RDA. Individuals with intakes below the RDA are more likely to have elevated CRP, which may contribute to cardiovascular disease risk
“as magnesium is absorbed through the skin and underlying fatty tissues of the body it sets off many chain reactions, one of which ends in the production of DHEA.”
you left out the Primal Blueprint from that book list!!
I really wasn't trying it for any specific reason, it's just the way I trained. I didn't have a "routine" to speak of at the time. Just did what I felt like doing that day. I guess I was bored with the whole workout thing for a while so I just mixed it up.
Josh! Don't let it die brother too much good convo in here.
I only didnt list it because I dont own it, havent read it, and dont really plan too. In hindsight I should have listed his website though Invalid Link Removed, I have been told several times that his blog is just as, if not more informative then his book.
His blog is an awesome source of information and I use it all the time.
While UND may seem random there is planning involved, its all about manipulation of the sets, reps, and intensity of workouts it just isnt done in a linear fashion as most other popular workouts are done.
Chris thanks for bumping this brotha!!!
I have been busy in my reading and honestly forgot about this log. I blame it entirely on you though!! I have been reading up on nutrition more since our conversation in Andres thread and also on this whole IF diet concept.
So far I have been doing this fasted diet for about a week and playing with various ideas and concepts. I have been reading Hoffmecklers book and through the leangains site, which BTW his postings are somewhat encryptic, there is info to be found in the site but it is sort of spread out and broken up in pieces.
I have been forming a version of it myself based upon my readings and will be posting the outline along with the reasoning and will be trying it out.
Yes he is very cryptic in that he has a book to sell later, and that he makes 450 for giving you the plan for cutting, and or bulking and how to adjust things for yourself. However it is only for cutting, or if bulking only for bulking to get both pieces of info would be $900, and to get him to accept you as an online consulting deal you pay 750 the first month and 400 monthly afterwards. So I understand why all of the cryptic info. He has a gold mine there and he is trying to protect it. I am wondering at this point if he will bother with the book since he has a 6 month waiting period before he even responded to my request. Just to many other inquiries... Although, If you don't mind jumping around a lot you can find what you need but you have to work for it.
I will have to check into that site you mentioned above.
dude for $900 he better be providing daily e-handjobs because no nutritional advice is worth that much. its called do your own research and experiment.
The one the is 450 a month covers both bulking and cutting. But a one time fee of 450 only buys you a cutting or bulking plan and his guidelnes for how to adjust.

Compared to others at $450 that's a steal! I am intrigued into what methods he uses with it, I was wondering if somehow one can combine the concept of carb cycling and IF together to make a nice recomp/cut diet. I am thinking of trying this myself with maybe somehow combining one of the scivation diet books with IF and just double or triple the scivation suggested meal as a fast break meal and use there carb refeed outline every 3rd day. What you think kleen?
Hey, just wanted to extend an invite to my new log.
I am going to go down to 6% and a lot of the journey will be in this log.

I honestly think the $20-30k that poliquin charges for a year is probably worth more, as at least he does blood tests for everything on you to determine what sort of vitamin/mineral/etc supplementation will do you most good. Like does anyone really think that for the $450 he's doing much more than customizing his existing diet based on your caloric needs? i'd bet a significant amount of $ that its not unique per client other than total cals
I agree %100... Bodybuilding is pretty simple as long as you're not a lazy ass. Eat lots of lean protein and lift weights. I never spent a dollar on a personal trainer.
DAMN!!! 30K a year for nutrition advice? Now that is insane!!!
I have read very little of poliquins work (I have the poliquin principles and have read various articles) BTW fun fact here, did you know poliquin is a strong endorser of the paleo diet and being gluten free? Why spend $30k when I have been trying to tell you the same thing for a while now..![]()
with him its the whole enchilada though, a customized nutrition and training program based on complete total bloodwork. So everything is tailored to bring your body to optimal performance. I've talked to a couple of athletes who used him and they felt it was worth it. One of them said it was what got him into the professional leagues. I'd never pay that, but at least with the bloodwork and true custom tailoring it makes sense that he charges a bunch.
I dunno if you noticed me mentioning it, but i'm going "gluten light" now as i'm switching out as much as I can of my grains for quinoa. Even bought flour to make my own breads, rolls, etc. Primarily doing it for the ecdysterone, but its also nice to have the extra protein from quinoa too.
Maybe it's just me, but is there a way to not make quinoa taste like dirt?
I have always been a fan of fasted training. What first introduced me to this was a couple post by Mulletsolider on the topic of fasted training along with anabolic pump and the possible fat loss benfits.
I tried this and had great results with it but wanted to figure out more of why it worked and see if I could duplicate it with another cheaper product and in comes Berberine.
One of the reason I believe why Anabolic Pump was successful for weightloss when combined with fasted training was Anbolic Pumps ability to activate AMPk.
So my theory is that the reason Anabolic Pump was successful for weight loss when combined with fasted training was because it activated AMPk.
How does AMPk help with fat loss?
So what does have to do with Berberine?
Berberine Increases Glucose Uptake Independent of Insulin and also activates AMPk
So the plan is fasted training combined with barberine should help with my fat loss goal.

bdcc said:That is interesting to hear of athletes stories.
Take it from someone who has done a lot of his courses, the testing that he goes to is extraordinarily extensive. I have heard a coach who charges about $300 per hour (he is UK based) talk about problems he has had and the troubleshooting Charles can do is incredible. Things like "from testing I have done people from that ethnic group often have a serious deficiency in..."
As standard he said something along the lines of "if your client won't do an RBC magnesium, RBC zinc and 25(OH)Vitamin D test then don't even waste your time with them".
I see you enjoy my posts and Mulletsoldier's as you use these often and on different websites. That's fine and thank you for the support! I would only suggest that you properly cite and credit the quotes, as is standard practice. Cheers!
