Snag's New 'USPlabs Asteroid Armageddon Assault'

Do you think at my age i get as much of a benefit from powerfull as some the older guys?
you make a valid point H. I listed those three for importance at my age..for a youngster such as yourself, I'd recommend Prime over PowerFULL.
But Prime does such a good job of sparing muscle... I guess so does recreate.
very true DW, Prime is some awesome stuff, works in many different aspects. I love my Prime  .. but PowerFULL is tremendously effective for us older cats.

During my last 4 weeks of prep I decided to try a different fat burner to help melt the last few lbs off. I lost tons of strength in the last 4 weeks and thats when I really noticed how much of a benefit recreate has in sparing protein and retaining muscular strength.
ahh, and a nice time to chime in Serg!
absolutely, RC has very definitive muscle-sparing action.

I get good sleep on Powerfull, I don't really notice that much more in the way of effects. I use PGH which is a gabba/gabob supp, I wonder if that is why, maybe the effects cancel each other out somewhat. PGH has a very positive effect on my body comp. so I have been running it as a staple.

So I see you have some wheels, how is your hitting power?
ahaa..yeah them wheels are kinda wasted at first base, but I'm a freaking Hoover vacuum over there so I fill in when our regular 1B pitches. :biglaugh:
as for hitting: always had good power/speed game, and tho my sight is a little challenged these days I can still pop 'em! ;) second on the team in HR's (behind our first baseman -- he's a 6-4, 250lb monster, ahead of me by 3 right now).

If you do not mind me asking, where are you playing baseball at?

I'm in Fort Wayne, IN. We've got access to 2 different parks, complete with full size fields/fences/bleachers/parking. Nice fields.

Not trying to interupt your log but is it a semi-pro league or ameteaur league?

Day #71 Legs

Random workout entry..just cuz I'm pleased as hell with how things went! ;)
No squats this day  but trust me -- I'm crippled right now! :684:
Led off w/ 10min light cardio to warm, then DB lunges 4x12-15 each leg, 45sec. rest per completed set; followed with DB Romanian deads, 4x15 @ 60sec rest; leg extension 3x16-18 ss w/ leg curls 3x15, 60sec rest between supersets; inner-thigh cable sweepers 3x12-15 each leg, 45sec rest per completed set; ended w/ 3x12 DB calf raise @ 45sec rest per set.
Pace was brisk, was extremely satisfied with strength and endurance levels, sweat was profuse, pump ridiculous! Veiny as hell right now too.. :28:

To be honest Snag, I prefer doing squats than lunges in terms of ease. I feel lunges take more out of me, especially my knees, while squats make me feel great. Although at times my back will start to bother me.

Yah I have had similar results under Snags tutoledge, this dieting style is designed to optimize the effectiveness of these products. It's a lot easier than traditional means and you can train just as if you weren't dieting at all and you gain lean mass while your doing it. I've never seen anything like it. It appears you can do this all the way through contest prep if you can believe it. It takes time and patience but the results could be 10 or more extra lbs come comp time.

Most important ingredients for success :)

Day #68 June 7

Thnx for the comments everybody..
Everything rolling along well, nothing major to report.
Legs are sore from the quick superset I had to run yesterday due to time constraints: 5 sets DB jump squats ss/ w BB SLDL, finished w/ 3 sets bw glute/ham raise. Ham's are screaming at me today! :aargh:
Biceps/triceps/calves/abs planned for today.
Have started a rolling workout routine, where I pair up 2 different bodyparts in rotating fashion, so it's always a new pairing each session..keeps things interesting.

Those are some serious DOMS-inflicting supersets Snag ! Invalid Link Removed

Fair enough!

Lunges get it done for sure. I should really think about adding those eventually.

:wall:

Day # (ohh let me see..) 75
Played some tennis earlier this morning, followed with shoulders/abs when I got back. Tried to have the wife take pics to show the seperation in the delts/traps, but she was having issues today and wasn't too swell behind the cam..oh well, gives an idea. Seperation is really coming along nicely..
Just kinda in cruising pattern right now, I've frozen cals at 2700 while I finish up the stack. Seems to be a good figure at this time..

I can't see what your saying as my wife is terrible behind the camera and she does not have much of an eye either. I love dearly though! Hopefully as I take her to more shows she well develop a better eye and be of more help to me. Poor woman to have to put up with me... lets have a moment of silence and appreciation for the wives!!

I can't see what your saying..
ahaa, it was more that she had to take a few shots before we got it narrowed to what I was trying to focus on, and even when she got the right area in focus she took forever to snap the pic..what can I say, I'm a perfectionist.. :28:

aye..

Bustin' at the seams Snag! Looking good.

Does it hurt to be that SWOLE! :hail: Looking Good Snags! You have me all pumped up to get my swole on.

I've been digging immensely the rotating bodypart schematic I've been rolling with.
Simple process really, but kinda tough to explain (especially as it's something I just do as I go), but here's an example..
the last 4 chest days have looked like this:
chest/abs
chest/bi's/abs (I love the chest/bi superset combo!)
chest/shoulders
chest/back/abs
so, sometimes I'll do back/bi's, sometimes shoulders/tri's, legs/bi's was cool (I like quads/shoulders), back/hammies is always a good one, and sometimes I'll just pull out an all arm day (with abs too of course).
it's keeping me fresh and motivated! never really done anything like this for an extended period of time before, and nothing really prompted it other than trying to work around my other sports..but I think I'll continue for awhile!
leaning out's going well..shaved my beard today and lo & behold, there was a lean face peeking back at me in the mirror! already got 2 comments about how lean I'm looking today..dig it! :D

How are the cals now? Also whats your total cardio you do in a given week?

was sticking at 2700 for awhile, as I was still leaning out yet weight was stable, but the next 2 weeks I'm gonna play around and shoot for a bit more cutting action, reduction in cals & macro shifts in play..
as for cardio -- none! :D
ahh, no structured cardio anyway. I get enough cardio from my sports bro..tennis especially. 1.5hr marathon sessions playing all out and sweating furiously is some incredible cardio! (good for the tan too!)

AMEN to that sometimes you already have enough going on. I prefer an actual activity over any stationary form of cardio. I love to keep everything a functional activity when possible. If only I could play B-Ball. LOL I look more like a hockey player invading the ice capades instead of a basket ball player. I need to find someone who will play teninis with me. Sounds like a blast and has been to long. Whatever type of cardio you are doing you're looking great.

thanks my man! tennis is a blast, and it's cool to see my wife & kids improving as we continue to play, their game is getting sharp!
the other day me & the wife were playing, on a complex that has 8 courts, and I overheard the couple on the court behind us talking, the husband says to the wife: 'that guy that looks like Hulk Hogan can move!'
LOL.. I didn't know quite how to take that -- on the one hand, I get that movement part a lot, because ppl for some reason don't think I have quickness or lateral ability..on the other hand -- Hulk Hogan?? duude, I'm totally way leaner than that!

Damn, I did not need to see this recipe right now!
mmmmm..sounds like it would go nicely with my steak tonight tho! :food:
alas, I shall suffer without.. :28:
you guys might like this one tho..

Seared Scallops with Brandied Leeks & Mushrooms
PREP TIME 30 minutes
COOK TIME 30 minutes
LEVEL Easy
SERVES 6
Sautéed mushrooms and leeks have a robust flavor that marries nicely with a touch of brandy and sour cream in this quick scallop dish. Substitute vermouth for a more mellow flavor. The mushroom mixture is equally delicious served with steak or chicken. Make it a meal: Serve over barley or Farro with Pistachios & Herbs. Ingredients:
Seared Scallops with Brandied Leeks & Mushrooms
4 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
10 ounces mushrooms, sliced
2 cups thinly sliced leeks, white and light green parts only (about 2)
1/4 cup brandy or dry vermouth
1/4 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
3 tablespoons reduced-fat sour cream
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
Freshly ground pepper to taste
1 pound large dry sea scallops (see Note)

Preparation:
1.Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms; cook, stirring occasionally, until they begin to give off liquid, about 3 minutes. Stir in leeks; cook, adjusting heat to prevent scorching, until the vegetables are very tender and the leeks are starting to brown, about 8 minutes. Add brandy (or vermouth) and broth; cook until reduced and thickened, about 30 seconds. Remove from the heat and stir in sour cream, parsley, 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper to taste. Cover and set aside.
2.Pat scallops dry and sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper. Heat the remaining 2 teaspoons oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the scallops and cook until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes per side. To serve, place some of the leek-mushroom mixture on each plate and top with scallops.

Tip:
Note: Be sure to buy "dry" sea scallops (scallops that have not been treated with sodium tripolyphosphate, or STP). Scallops that have been treated with STP ("wet" scallops) have been subjected to a chemical bath and are not only mushy and less flavorful, but will not brown properly.

Hulk was fairly lean at one time but never as lean as Snag... it's funny how people see us. All they see is big muscles and they don't have our eye for distinction, they don't know how much leaner one heavily muscled person is from the next really. We can just look at somebody and say oh he's about 10% bf, normal people don't have that eye cuz they don't spend as much time looking at themselves in the mirror. Speaking of which, when normals or lets call them muggles, see us looking in the mirror a lot they think it's because were arrogant. That's not true we are putting in a lot of work and we are looking for improvement or the lack of it. I mean how I'm I gonna know how well I'm doing if I don't look in the mirror.

...I'm drooling like Homer Simpson...

ahaa thx..yeah, been an activity-addict pretty much my whole life, other than a few isolated instances here & there.
C'mon Snags, the Hulkster was pretty lean in his heyday...
hmm..he does look pretty lean in that pic doesn't he?
Hey Snag I thought you said NO more pics :p

AMEN! Snags don't be alarmed he meant that as a compliment I am sure. Heck he even thought you were iconic in stature. ;) He was probably an old fan of the man and that is the first muscular reference he could come up with. I get Stone Cold Steve Austin all the time. Go figure... muscles -check, bald -check, goatee -check, yep must be him.

For a wrestler reference you can be proud of you are looking like Batista, or maybe a John Sena (spelling) both are thick, swole and cut.

ah thx for the comparison my friend..interesting irony: one of my buddies met Cena in the airport when he flew to Florida either last yr or the yr before (can't recall), it was around the time Cena had surgery & was recovering, he was just chilling by himself on a layover and my bud went up and kicked it with him for awhile..Matt told me when he got back that I was just as big (thick-wise) as Cena except of course the dude was taller..lol, i don't think so, but remember the key here was Cena was injured at the time, not in his best shape..dude's a beast!
Stone Cold -- yeah, I see the comparison to you! :D

hmm..never tried to take a pic of the forearm before..kinda weird, but here's one of each. don't really work these guys much directly, they just grow. once again, not in Cena's league, but I'm pleased with them.
[okay Ms. Dragon, I promise that'll be the last pic till I'm done with this log!]

Pre-bed??? Sweet dreams bubba.

So..Father's Day is coming up, and I usually bust out some gourmet recipe to treat myself to on this day (cuz no one can cook quite like me, ahaa..)
This Father's Day, however, begins my final approach to the end of this log, so no splurging for me..
But, maybe you guys can get someone to make one of these dishes for you!

Lean Mean Cheeseburger
Keep these burgers nutritious by using lean ground beef, low-fat cheese and whole-wheat hamburger buns – and they’re still nice and juicy!

Serves: 4

Ingredients
2 tablespoons quick-cooking oats
1 pound ground beef (93% or leaner -- I like 96% lean beef)
1/2 teaspoon steak seasoning blend (McCormick’s Montreal Steak Seasoning)
4 seeded or whole-wheat hamburger buns, split
4 slices low-fat cheese, such as Cheddar or American
Lettuce leaves, optional (mandatory for me!) ;)
Tomato slices, optional (see above!)

Preparation
1. Place the oats in a food-safe plastic bag. Seal bag securely, squeezing out excess air. Roll over bag with rolling pin to crush oats to a fine consistency (you can also use a mini food processor if that’s easier).

2. Combine the ground beef, oats and steak seasoning blend in a large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Lightly shape into four 1/2-inch patties.

3. Place patties on grid over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, uncovered, 11 to 13 minutes to medium (160°F) doneness, until they’re no longer pink in center and juices show no pink, turning occasionally. (all right -- I use propane.. :p)

4. Line the bottom of each bun with lettuce and tomato, as desired. Top with the burger and cheese slice. Close sandwiches and gobble.

Enjoy!

Shrimp Kebabs with Pineapple & Peppers
If you love to cook for a crowd, these colorful kebabs can add festive flare to your gathering. If pineapple seems too crazy, leave it out or substitute with mushrooms or zucchini. (yeah..I pass on the pineapple myself)

Serves: 5

Ingredients
1-1/2 pounds large shrimp (16 to 20 count), shelled and deveined
1/3 cup light teriyaki sauce
2 red bell peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 fresh pineapple, cored and cut into 1-inch cubes (optional)

Preparation
1. Combine the shrimp, teriyaki sauce and bell peppers in a large bowl and let stand about 30 minutes.

2. Thread the shrimp (through the tail and front), pineapple (as desired) and bell peppers onto 10 wooden or metal skewers. Leave a small space between the shrimp and pineapple (if they touch, the acid in the pineapple will break down the protein in the shrimp, making them mushy).

3. Preheat the grill on high and coat with nonstick cooking spray. Lower the heat to medium-high, then grill the kebabs until the shrimp is cooked through, about 3 minutes per side.

Enjoy!

1. Place the pork tenderloin in a large resealable plastic bag; set aside.

2. Whisk together the other ingredients of the marinade.

3. Pour the marinade over the pork. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours for the most flavorful results.

4. Preheat the grill to medium-high.

6. Cook, turning frequently, for about 20 minutes, or until slightly pink in the center and an instant-read meat thermometer registers 160°F. Slice and serve.
