Sorry to hear this news. Makes you realize though that this is more than just an anonymous forum. We are all in this together as a larger community, even though our discipline is often times traveled alone. Train hard and keep connected. Condolences to his family and all those who knew him personally.

His 'tell it like it is' personality, his vast amounts of information, his logs with food porn and his friendship will be greatly missed!! He had a way of rubbing some guys a little raw but that was just Snags not putting up with BS (or being a little stubborn!) We had many chats about all sorts of things, not just lifting and I will miss him. My prayers go out to his family in this time of grief.

This is sad. Always very cool to me with the few exchanges we had. Always extra sad when someone passes so young. RIP big guy.

Its going to be strange without him on here....

RIP Snags. He helped me out so much when I started on here and I always loved seeing him dive into topics on nutrition and training. I learned so much from him and I will be forever grateful.

I can't believe this. Steve was an awesome guy, he was always straight up and I looked up to him a lot since I got into these and other forums. I'm thankful that I drove out 2.5h to get to meet him this summer. My condolences go out to his loved ones.

really cool of everyone to pay their respects. I will forward this link onto HQ in hopes it will find his family, so they can find out just how much he gave to the community.

Devastating. Steve and I worked together at USPlabs and developed a good friendship. We were never in regular communication since then, but I'd follow him on the forums over the years and we'd post back and forth from time to time.

Steve was probably my main mentor in the fitness world in the sense that he gave me a ton of foundational knowledge that's helped me build to where I am today. Modified keto diet for getting shredded, fasted cardio/lifting with BCAAs, etc. - he taught me all of it.

He was always up for debate and although he could be stubborn at times, he was one of very few in the online bodybuilding community who would challenge things and call people out. We need more people like that instead of everyone following what everyone else says.

My prayers and best wishes to his family and children. Hopefully someone close to him can print the messages left in these threads and get them to his family so they know how appreciated he was in this world and the impact he had on so many people.

Man, I knew Steve for years, I got him his job here at Finaflex. We had a falling out but that wasn't on my part, I never really did figure it all out why he turned. I had a suspicion that he might have some kind of health issues. Any more details of his passing would be appreciated.

You gave me my very first rep when I joined here, apparently I made you chuckle.

You had a great sense of humour yourself, and very eloquent.

Farewell fella.

I wonder about this myself. Steve always seemed like a pretty intense guy, type A personality, ran his own business, etc., and that's a lot of stress. And I'm sure his recent divorce and not seeing his kids as much weighed on him as well.

This is such a tragedy for his kids, I feel horrible for them losing their father just before the holidays.

Steve got me my first rep gig. I was so honored to be asked....me, a guy from europe.

Had a blast working with, and I've learned a lot from him.

We had some arguments when I got 'fired', but we did keep in touch and this actually helped me become the rep I am today.

Going to miss you big guy. You've been a big inspiration...going to miss our 'european talk'...our virgin talk(his birthday was the 6th mine the 5th of september.)

See you in bodybuilding heaven;)

Honor Snags' memory this weekend by getting a good workout in, make a meal of ground beef and bell peppers, and tell your kids / family you love them. Remember how he may have helped you on these boards and do the same going forward.

A death in the family is never easy, regardless of the time of year.............my godfather, who was also my father's cousin, passed away after battling a terminal illness this time last year. It was extra hard to cope with. So, I echo what all of the the posters have said thus far. To the man and his family - may many thoughts and prayers be with you during this very, very difficult time.

it would really make him smile to see you out on a tennis court in shorts and a tee in 27% weather, lol.....i don't know how a man his size with all that bulk was able to run around a tennis court without getting injured, i was very impressed....unfortunately we never got to hook up and play a set, i regret that very much!!!

To everyone who posted about Steve...
It means a lot to know that so many of you were touched by his knowledge and willingness to help--even if he was stubborn at times.
We do not yet have details on what happened to him. Results will be a couple of weeks.
Thank you to whoever had the idea to share this where his family could see it because we would have never known about it otherwise.
Knowing about all of you he has helped really helps us. His son is especially appreciative of all the positive memories being shared, he is glad to know that so many others will miss him too.
Thank You all for prayers and thoughts

Holy ****. I was in awe yesterday when I posted but after reflecting I wanted to thank him again for all he did for me around here and in the gym. He was truly one of a kind. True believer in the iron lifestyle and all it entails. I always respected him for his brutal honesty lol. He always made me chuckle and sure had a way with words. Steve I hope you realize the true impact you had on this community.

RIP buddy

somehow i just felt like it was something that might help aching hearts to see such an out pouring of love for the man, the myth, our friend "snags"
im the one who gave him his beloved nic name a long time ago when we both ran around on bb.com

he truly was a beloved member on many boards, even the people that loved to hate him respected him.

I've known Snag on the boards for probably 5 years or so. We didn't get along much, but I respected him for his knowledge in it's own anecdotal way. Some of our forum battles were legendary. Some of the battles I witnessed with him and some great minds were legendary. He definitely will always have my respect for going head to head with some of the brightest minds. I am saddened to head of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

RIP in peace brah.

I'm glad you and your son have gotten to see this kristi. Tomorrow is a day of thanks and I propose we all help that one person out who you wouldn't normally help or give friendly advice to those whom need it but may not want it. Steve was a Man who loved to serve the community and I can only see it fit of we did as he did one last time or for many times to come. And I also bet he wouldn't mind some of us setting some PR's in the gym tomorrow :). mrssnags I do not mean to sound intrusive, and I'm not aware of the age of your son but if he's too young to understand what's happening just let him know his dad was a great man.

Wow, I had no idea he was so young.

That is a terrible age to lose a father (as if there is a good time). I hope he is doing OK, my father passed when I was 15 and it took a long time for things to be "normal" afterwards.

Thank you for the update, and I hope you're all doing OK.
