Prime: Take 2

Clean as a whistle :think:

I wish I could work out topless; then I wouldn't have to worry about my shirt rubbing on my skin which causes the itchiness. I would let the ladies do it to to be fair :lol:


I love working out topless, because i hate getting sweaty and having bacteria next to my skin, but i dont like people to think im showing off, so i dont do it.

Pretty red/irritated. I think what it really needs is a few days to rest up, but I keep hitting the gym, and my exercise tops/HIIT sprints seem to aggravate it. Anyways outside of my Halloween costume tonight, I'm going to confine myself to my lifeguard shirts (Wife-beaters) and see how it goes. If no improvement by Monday I'll probably go to a dermatologist (Or more likely get an appointment 6 months in the future. Canadian healthcare :mad:)
 
When I used to run I went to running room and picked up some soft cotton shirts that were good for not irritating the skin, maybe it's a matter of wearing the right material.

They're great shirts actually, I have a bunch of Invalid Link Removed , which are designed for cardio. I think my 1st one though is "drying out" somehow, and that is what made me itchy. My more recent 3 are better. But my chest is itching like MAD, I think tonight is going to be a bad night; definitely taking melatonin. Got redness right across my chest; I'm debating taking 2 days off PRIME and seeing if I notice an improvement, or if that would waste the loading that I've just done.
Also I just finished my reading of the djbombsquad log, I don't know how I missed that.
 
Come to mention it, although I am not very vascular by nature, I have noticed more than usual and I am seeing veins under my skin that I never saw before up near my shoulders. I wonder as I lean out if I will be seeing these pop out a bit.

Me too - slowly moving up from my hands/forearms.

Little bit more in the shoulders - but nothing 'popping' out yet.

Part factor of shedding fat as well.

Hope you get that itch sorted out. Look on the bright side - at least it hasn't hit your nutsack...

1a) Dips (+30lb) - 11,9,7(1),2(6) - 11 is new best, endurance dropped like a rock lol
1b) Chinups- 4x Exhaustion (BW + Assisted some)
2a) Low Rows 4x10
2b) Machine Pec Fly 4x12
3a) Incl DB; 75x4,7,6,5 (1st I stopped b/c footrest was sliding, but down from last week of 10/9/8/7)
4a) DB Decl: 60; 4x8 Felt light, but no spotter for usual BB bench
4b) Chins: 6x to failure (BW then Pulldowns)
5: BB Rows 135; 4x8 (Went from ground not pegs, liked the full ROM)

Will do pushups/BW Dips this evening

Comments:
- didn't drink too much, just sleep deprived
- 1.5 serv. Ragnarok got me stimmed up, but lacked energy/endurance
- insufficient carbs, must have depleted myself last night from all the walking, and didn't compensate my glycogen stores this morning, felt hungry 1/2way thru
- Can't decide if I should have rested today and hit the gym tomorrow
- I looked pretty ferocious in my wife beater @ the gym, surprised myself actually
- Steveo hooked up, possibly for more than 1 night lol, I need to call her

I must digress, the rest was all just filler :lol: She's Ukrainian too though, so I could see this lasting for a while. Calling them the next day is always awkward :icon_lol:

Going to get some solid sleep tonight and hopefully blast my legs tomorrow. I think I'm going to write down my workout ahead of time, that way I know exactly how much I'm going to do and this should help me push myself a bit further.

Nasty, can i suggest something, you may know it already but its amazing,

Get 2 cups of pure natural oats, put them in a sock or a nylon stocking, attach it to the tap..i think in america its a faucet, and run the hot water through it to fill the bath up, run the water slow so it takes a while to fill the bath up, and the water should look and feel slightly oily, or even soapy, now relax and soak, dont wash, no soap nothing for at least 20 minutes, repeat every day for a week, after leaving the bath tub, just gently dry yourself, being carefull not to rub the skin, or dry it totaly, i will promise you will see a difference within a week, a major improvement, if you can use a sunbed once a week that also helps as it slows down white blood cell production. over stimulation causes skin problems.

Please try it, i told my sister in law about this after everything had failed, 2 weeks later it had gone alltogether.

Much respect, and hope it goes well buddy.

Actually Aveeno is formulated using oats ( Invalid Link Removed ), and I'm upping the ante with the hydrocortisone cream. I really like the idea of taking a bath though, it is something relaxing I haven't done in , I don't know years probably. Thanks for the suggestion!

On a side note, I was reading about my rash and it's definitely some sort of irritant contact dermititis. I find it amusing how every single single tells you first and foremost not to itch, and yet all I want to do is scratch my skin off. It's a real willpower battle.

Thats why the bath is great, it takes away the itching, just try it a couple of times, i know it will help its a remedy used over here for for decades, and even the doctors tell you to do that first before trying any medication, hope it helps you, and you get it sorted soon.

Day 9- Legs

- still slightly sleep deprived due to itching, but symptoms appear to be easing slightly

Squats: 5,6,5,5,5,5,5,4,4,4 (10 sets. Planned on doing 4 or 5, but kept on going, GVT glory days lol)
Leg Press: 440; 4x12 Slow (All the machine goes up to)

Hungry! Summarizes my PWO feeling. Had 2 Na-R-ALA and 3 Neovar 2.0, and I felt like there was a hole in my stomach. I finished my oatbran (See below), then plowed through 1lb of frozen veggies, some yogurt , chicken, and carrots
- Strength was average, however endurance was great
- Will assess DOMS tomorrow to see how hard I pushed myself
- Weight was an anomaly; I weighed in at 170.5, and then halfway through my workout I checked and I was down to 165, I think something was up with the scale seeing as how I only increased my fluids (via BCAA's & Water) during that time

I got inspired by a chocolate brownie recipe I saw, and made my PWO Oat-bran with 3 tbsp Cocoa, Dark Chocolate Stevia, Choc. PB Protein Powder, and 1c. of raspberries... Once the oat bran solidified but was still warm, I swear it was like a mushy brownie eaten with a spoon. This picture doesn't do justice, but alas

I eat one of those pre-WO, and one post-WO usually. Got fiber? 200% RDA of Mg, and 67% of Zn (Absorption probably hurt by all the fiber though)

I use the sound vibrations to induce oscillations in the oatbran, thus cooking it to a level beyond comparison.... :think: Why how do you cook your oatbran?

Also Iron I might try the PB idea, however I try and limit the fats around my WO, and the oatbran already has something like 8g :( Might do it PWO tomorrow though.

I think so, which is why I usually indicate my hydration status/other pertinent details when I weigh in. It helps me compare apples to apples when tracking my weight.

Comments:
- Really wanted to get 6 reps in on the deadlifts, just didn't happen. I believe I was sore from the previous day's DB Clean & Jerk, my back was slightly stiff
- Weight seems to be happy at 173 lol
- itching was going down; did some HIIT in a new luluelmon/athletic shirt and was feeling kind of itchy, but sleep is much improved



Wed Nov 5th = Rest
- not really rest b/c I'm so busy all day I have no time to go to the gym, but I need a rest day anyways
 
Nice job. I can't wait until my lame lumbar is strong enough to dead again. Good job, bud.

There's surprisingly few guys who deadlifts at my gym. It's a movement I think all people without injuries should do. Next week I might drop it down to 285, and focus on doing smooth controlled motions, and maybe 5x8. 315 might be a bit much to do with proper form right now.

On and off. I think it's a combination of the exercise T's and nuts. I definitely noticed a rash on my obliques after I had a few handfuls of pistachios for dinner, and on Tuesday I was itching like a mofo after peanuts. It's just odd because I'll go 2 days without nuts, and still have an itchy night. I'm falling asleep quicker despite the itching, and it's not as bad as last week, I'm just hoping it will go away soon.

Did Chest/Back yesterday, legs in a few hours and will update this afternoon.

- did today's workout in 2 parts since the 1st time I only had an hour and some guy was asking me questions for a good 20 minutes. I don't mind helping , but he kept asking about everything!

2 Week Review
Week 2

My Observations:
-Haven't noticed any full-body pump/muscle hardness
- slight increase in vasculature at the end of the day
- I pushed myself really hard these last 2 workouts and got some heavy DOMS, which I like because it shows I worked hard
- I was training beforehand at a very high intensity/frequency, and have only kept it up
- odd rash has gone away, mild itching, removed nuts from diet as a precaution since Wed Nov 5th to isolate the problem
 
Day 15- Sat Nov 8

Comments:
- I OD'ed on the banaba this morning lol, ended up with 250mg instead of 150 mg 20%, threw me for a loop. I was eating Jam with a spoon and concentrated acai/honey before my workout; I should have figured something was up.
- Took AP + 3 Neovar 2.0 PWO , and ate like mad lol. Ended up eating my usual pre and post-WO oatbran, then some lasagna, veggies and chicken chili
- I feel like my workouts are getting longer; My 60 minutes in the gym is easily turning into 80
- No massive strength boost, but I do feel like my volume has increased. Today my friend actually asked me how long I was at the gym, and I realized I was 75 minutes in! I usually aim for 60-75 minutes, time flew by.
 
Mini Update Before Deadlifts:

- I've noticed consistently over the last 3 days pretty severe DOMS. Even X-Factor which I didn't respond too didn't make me this sore! And the exercises are not new (except for the cleans yesterday). My tri's are killing me after just skull-crushers and the weighted dips. Cleans really did a number on my hams I think.

For learning cleans I'm following : Invalid Link Removed , if anybody knows a better guide let me know. I might video a few and get Volcom to help me.

I started on Sat Oct 25th, I'm on day 16 right now. Just about done the 1st bottle. I was going to ask if you meant IGF-2 but I'm sure you got the real goods :D

You're right in the last part of that sentence; 16 days isn't enough time to gauge the effects, which is why I'm continuing with the 2nd bottle lol. The weight plateau can only mean I'm at a homeostatic caloric intake. My workouts seems to have become more intense. Another possibility is that avoiding nuts may have lowered my daily caloric intake more than I expected. I've compensated by having a few tsp's of Coconut Oil throughout the day and lots of cheese, however it might not be enough. I'm focusing on upping my calories even further.

I've been training very heavily for these past 2 weeks, and right now everything is sore (Last 3 workouts gave me severe DOMS) so I'm taking the day off tomorrow and making sure I get plenty of sleep. I know the itching has taken a toll on the quality of my sleep, which may be hindering my gains. I've been cycling 5/2 on Powerfull, and I can notice the difference when I take the 2 days off.
 
Day 16: Sun Nov 9

Workout:Back/Bi's

Deadlifts: 135x5, 315x8,5,3,2 : Went from 6-8, although I was tanked after that show lol
DB Preacher Curls 4x8
DB Obliques : 70 (+5); 8,7,7,7

HIIT Sprints: 9 Sets, Poorly done due to stiff hamstrings

Weight: 172.5

Comments:
- Happy to get those extra 2 reps on my deadlift. The last 2 times were poor showings, and this time with my fatigued posterior chain (b/c of cleans) I thought I was going to have a bad time. Actually it felt so light I could have done probably 10 if my grip didn't give out on me! Afterwards it felt regular, but the 1st lift was awesome.
- My friend impulse purchased some NO-Xplode yesterday, $70 for the 40 serving one. He was jittery from the caffeine. Luckily I've told him and his housemate about NP and he's going to be throwing in a big Xmas order :thumbsup:

Day 17: Rest

From the desk of Steveo: Rest days are lovely. That being said, I was out of the house at 8 and didn't get home until 7 lol. Spent 1 hour waiting at the health clinic after getting itchy yesterday afternoon, only to get told exactly what I knew. It looked like a skin rash from clothing, take benadryl, and I got a stronger cream to apply.

And true to the "From the desk of Steveo" line, here's what it looks like. Today's Economist (Still haven't read last weeks lol, the fitness book I got out for my mom/sister but they weren't too scared by it, and an immunology textbook if I feel like working lol.

I definitely feel it in my back today, which I thought I might not since i had done so little volume. Deads might be one exercise where I keep the reps low, but just keep charging ahead. My form isn't the greatest though, so alternately I might drop the weight down 20 and work on getting 8 reps with good form. Still up in the air.

- Prime is definitely making me SORE! I get DOMS after every workout, last week straight. I believe I am pushing myself harder without even trying :whip:

Just need to ask. Are you experiencing any lethargy?
The only lethargy I noticed was on leg day, when I went to bed around midnight and got up at 7:50. It was due to my decreased sleep. Previous lethargy was from the mad itching, which has almost gone away. So no unexplained lethargy , and no flu/cold either :D


Random side notes: Tomorrow I run out of NOW Adam and will be switching to CL's Orange Triad. Also I finished the 1st bottle of Prime yesterday.
 
Lethargy is the last thing I feel on Prime. After I do one workout I look forward to the next. I know what you are talking about the doms though... immediate soreness directly after the workout and into the next day. I feel like a rock so I don't care about being sore... fuggit..
