looking good kat.... the scale definitely screws with your head. Im 12lbs heavier then i was last year
at this time, but my waist isn't any bigger and I'm way more leaner. But having been overweight, its
hard not to freak out when the scale goes up... LOL

Thank you! That's great! We just have to remember it's a certain look we are going for... Not a number! The "number" may not actually look the way we think it will.

Oh, I almost forgot...we just had the best steak EVER!! Slow cooked thick ribeyes @250 for an hour and then seared them in a cast iron skillet. Cooked it evenly to a perfect medium rare! I didn't make a very big dent unfortunately but that just means leftovers! Lol

As long as i hit those numbers, I dont care what the scale says... :)

That is an awesome looking steak! So you pan seared, then into the oven for an hour on 250? or the other way around?

Just started doing steaks like this.. Fricken awesome. Never go back to a different way. Use cast iron or stainless steal pan, leave steak out (we use ny strips) for 45 minutes, season with salt and pepper or whatever? Heat pan medium to high heat, put small layer of olive oil in pan and drop steaks in and sear for 2 1/2 minutes one side, 1 1/2 minutes other side (steaks will be sizzling and splattering) then put whole pan in oven pre heated to 400degrees For 3 to 4 minutes rare to 6 to 8 minutes med well. Then take steaks out and wrap in aluminum foil for 7 to 10 minutes which allows juices to flow through steak. If you try this, time everything so you have a template to work from.. You will thank me later.. I have this method down to a science. We do once a week and my wife says it's better than going to steak house! (Maybe not Ruth Chris) but you get the point!! ENJOY!!

Where can I find coconut oil without the scent? I like using it but I can't stand how the smell over powers everything.

For cooking or rubbing on your body ( serious question not meant to be pervy)

lol, I actually use it for both. I can't stand the smell and my local whole foods store only carries the scented ones. I stopped using it as a moisturizer because it would give me headaches.

Yea Turff nailed it go with an organic coconut oil if you go scentless then you jump into chemically modifying it.

Thanks, guys! That's what I figured. My boss was using an unscented one but it reminded me of crisco. :/ I may go back to the spray.

you won't regret it. Steaks were fairly thick, inch, inch and a half? I always advise to actually grab a timer so if it doesn't turn out to your liking, you can adjust up or down.

Actually the other way around. We have done them similar to what Keith was saying and they're very good...but this way leaves them more evenly cooked all of the way through. Usually you have a big difference throughout the steak with there being a layer of well done surrounding the outside of the steak. If you slow cook an 1.25-1.5" room temp steak in the oven first for 45mins @275, let it rest 10-15mins, then seat in a very hot cast iron skillet, it will be med rare evenly all of the way through.

I get mine from Walmart or kroger and it doesn't have a smell. SAMs is a great idea though bc its a bigger container!!

I went to run and squat a bit today. I didn't go too heavy because I'm still recovering from Friday's run, and I don't want to hurt myself before my testing on Tuesday. :) Happy Sunday!

Yeah. I use Adidas, with a moderate heel. It's about a 1/2" wedge. Helps with weight distribution and got me to get my shins more vertical.

Trunk isn't braced along with the lats and is causing hyperextension at the lumbar. It turns the squat into a good morning and throws off weight distribution.

You're right! They're awesome for deads but they're not too good for squats. I'm going to have to get some PL shoes. I only like how they stick to the floor but other than that, noooooo support at all!

I think the heel height on those are only a quarter inch. Depending on what you want, you may want to have a higher effective heel height.. Mine are .77in (little over three quarter of an inch)

The powerlift shoe has a .6" heel on them. The AdiPowers have a 1" heel. It mainly depends on ankle/calf mobility and height of the person on how to select a heeled shoe. It's not always necessary to have one for squats despite their prevalence in raw lifters.

Rogue needs to correct their information. They're 24mm, which is ~.94". That's straight from the Adidas site.

rouge may be subtracting the 4mm sole/forefoot and.

20mm = .78

Regardless. She needs to find a shoe she finds beneficial.

Wearing an actual shoe would help. Vibrams have no stability to them. The trunk positioning is what concerns me on the squat. The torso is braced at all and you can see the elongation from the side.

I was afraid to order because I wasn't sure what size to get. I wear an 8 in women.

Thank you, everyone for all the support.
I sent my videos to one of my powerlifter friend and he said that I did pretty good. He mentioned me coming off my heels a bit and my depth is good, 80% of the time. I will be working on my mobility more. :)

Toss that vid up here. Rodja brings up a good point with your torso/lumbar. Don't "over arch" your lumbar area. Getting your upper bod a little more vertical and setting your lats will help this a ton. Along with avoiding that whole coming up off the heels thing.
Overall still looks good, just some tweaks!

Proper bracing / ribcage positioning seems like one of the most difficult concepts to teach beginners, especially females. Females, in my experience, tend to favor overextension because of their, on average, greater flexibility in the PC.
