Friendly Over Head DB Triceps Ext. Challenge...

It counts. We understand that you don't have access to the larger DB's. But what you did tempts me to use my EZ Bar next time to make sure your number is truly the winner here. :sly:
You have over 80lbs. of bodyweight on me. Others mentioned earlier in the thread to take that into account when deciding the winner. But I don't want the win that way. I want it outright!!! So I'm gonna load up the EZ Bar to 175 lbs. next time with blood in my eyes and go all-out!! :twisted:

And that's true. That should be taken into account. Pound-for-pound, you're probably stronger than me. But it's cool...I have no problem deferring! Besides, I'm scared to go any higher right now on the EZ-Bar curl anyway. Nonetheless, I'll probably give it a try...especially if someone pisses me off before I get to the gym, which seems to be happening a lot lately. :grumpy: I'd be happy with the bronze or silver medal. Hell, with Natadrol I've already set several PRs, so I have absolutely NO complaints. Besides, the idea is for us to push each other anyway, right?

130x12 yesterday... ouch.

havent gone double yet but did single arm DB tri ext at 70's for 12 reps thins morning. May load up the monster DB handle w/150 or 160 next week and tri to hit in the 12 range. Will prob vid it.

Well I'm able to report that i got 150x6....It would have gone alot better if i hadn't gone for max bench the day before. TG and ex-tightend, your still the gold medal standard but i'll be catching you soon enough!!!!

Ok guys...not great but I need to get the feel for these. These were seated EZ bar variety: 110x13. I think I have more I just don't feel comfortable with the exercise yet.

More big numbers that have been tossed around in here.

Dang you guys are keep raising the bar, literally! I did just get 100x7x2 sets, not too bad for my scrawny self. I see some big guys in here getting close like Resolve, man 130x12 is nothing to joke about, serious weight my friend.

Well, chest/tris was yesterday... and sadly, I can't do Votums way of getting the DB up there. (on bench, hold with one hand, sit, start lift). I'm too short for one bench(makes the DB too high and I would have to bend farther back for the rep because of the back) and too tall for the other bench (puts the DB so low, I couldn't get it up to start the lift from that low). Looks like I'm out of options other than wrestling it up :/

On the upside, will be going for 100 on my own next time. This last time I warmed up with 50x12(never starting that low again), then to 65x10, 75x10, 85x10, 95x10. Wanted to see if I could still grab 95 for 10 at the end of my workout(last exercise). Wasn't hard at all, so I'll be doing 3 sets next time with the last one being my 100x(hopefully) 8 or 10.

Sorry guys. I was going to do that vid today, but I have been on a army parade field all day and have just not had the chance to go to a gym. I owe you all push ups!!! Driving home tomorrow!!! Will do the vid towards the end of the week.

Hey what about me and my paltry 110x10, ;) I have been out a week but I am thinking one shot at 120 this week wont kill me, or if in the garage I will load my EZ Curl bar with 4 25s and hit up 125. By the way guys I do mine standing. I mentioned earlier an easier way to get the db in place if standing. However, doing it standing may lower your weight slightly with all the stabilizing and what not. I know it lowers mine for military press.

Well we had a string of sunny days so I took off of work because I had to get up on my roof and tear down and replace all the shingles last week. Was working 12 hour days out there me and my son. When i came in it was basically time for bed so no working out or posting on forums. I may not have went to the gym but I got a hell of a workout on that roof. Was hotter than Hell too. I think we were at or over 100 degrees at some point. That black tar paper made it so much worse; then the white shingle was reflecting the sun back up on us from below to which was not aiding in anything but extreme perspiration. I had to change my clothes every time I came down for a break because they were just dripping sweat everywhere and couldn't sit on anything. I have NEVER sweat so much in my life.

Now that's man-sized DB's!! I can't believe some of these metro-sexual gyms having DB's that only go up to 100 lbs. I mean really......

Sunday I did some 1 Arm DB Rows with a 160 lb. DB. Got 11 reps.
I'm thinking of loading up a DB with 200 lbs. and see how many reps I can crank out. :ponder:

Okay. Since most of the guys involved in this challenge go to gyms that have little girly man DB's, they're having to use the EZ Bar instead. No problem, I'll adjust and use the EZ Bar also.
It levels the playing field if we're all doing the same exercise.
So I got down with that sickness this morning!! :twisted:

Seated Behind Head EZ Bar Extensions (French Presses)--165 X 12 reps!!

And no back support either. Just sitting on an Olympic Bench. I put the bar up on the uprights which adjust way up high for squats. I had an easy time lifting it off like that. No cleaning that heavy shit up over my head!!

TG you are a beast! I feel like complaining about hang cleaning 165 once to get it up to french press is a little beneath you... Again I cant really judge because you are a monster with the weights. Regardless keep putting up the numbers to motivate mere mortals like me

Thunder, I thank you for holding back the rain yesterday so I could patch that one spot of flashing...

Are your dumbbells the Olympic variety or the other type with smaller holes and screw on ends? I can't imaging loading up 200 on a Oly Db and it staying on. Where to find the room.
 
My 125 attempt with ez curl bar video

I decided to record my attempt with 125. Doing 9 ain't bad, I was happy with it as you could see. It is going up though, competition is ongoing for a little bit I want 130x10 in the next few weeks even though I am on a cut right now. I know I was nice and warm as you can tell. I had already worked the rest of my upper body with 3 sets of 15, heavy weight for that range. Oh and no curls but reverse grip dorians so no need. Then rested about 3-4 minutes before attempting this so I should have been pretty fresh. I think my form was spot on too.

I've got both styles. Olympic and Standard. And lots of weights!!!
With the short standard screw on DB's I have to use 25 lb. plates which are slightly awkward in using. But not as awkward as the huge Olympic DB's. The collared ends are just so damn big.
I made some really long Standard DB's from an old standard barbell I had. I have several more left. I used most of the whole bar to make 2 very long DB handles. I can load them up with ridiculous amounts of weights.

I agree completely, I have both and prefer the shorter ones for both safety and less cumbersome even if only a little. However I need to start collecting 25 plates for them. I only have enough for 55 per db right now. I have a crap load of 25's like 8-10 of them for the Oly DB but they are just so clumsy loaded up.

About the only exercisess that I use my Olympic DB"s on are one-arm rows and shrugs. They suck for almost everything else.

Look on Craigslist.com for some 25 lb. standard plates. :type::thumbsup:

Outstanding effort expended on those extensions, Major!! I'd say that was a "major" accomplishmnet!!:usa2:
