Does caffeine promote estrogen?

I was reading a lot of threads last night, but this stuck in my head for some reason. I think that someone claimed that caffeine promoted estrogen in the body, so if you were trying to cut your estro, you should avoid caffeine. I believe the amount was 500mg and up, so a cup of coffee wouldn't hurt anything, but if you consume 2-3 cups a day, drink a cola or two, and use a preworkout stim that contains caffeine, you might be up around that 500mg amount!

Has anybody ever heard of this?

Is there any truth to it?
 
If that was true, I'd have double d tits, and a period every week. OH SH*T I think I am bleeding!...NO, wait, that was just Chef Boy Ar'D, on my crotch. *WHEW*
 
Nicotine is also an anti-estrogen, but that doesn't mean I'm going to quit drinking coffee and start smoking. :D

i think this idea comes from the fact that caffeine is metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP-1A2, which also is the metabolite for estradiol. a weak connection IMO.

if there is any increase in estrogen due to caffeine, it would be a small amount, not enough to notice.

i don't think theres anything to worry about :D
 
I've read and heard about this before. Haven't seen any factual studies showing detrimental e effects from high dosages. A lot of guys take in over a gram of caffeine a day and haven't complained about developing boobies, so who knows.

It's called Nicotine gum, combine that with the coffee = gains? (or losses in this case) :sgrin:


I have never seen anything claim caffeine would increase estrogen. Nothing beyond a possible enzyme as stated physiologically would make me believe that could even occur.

yep ive been drinkin caffine for years i have the biggest tits in the world

Soy has week plant based estrogen and patients in my office who consume soy have had no rasie in estrogen or any of the hormorns related estrogen. You would have to to consume 1000's of grams of soy in a day to do any thing like that.

How bout' those "sporks" Kentucky Fried Chicken has. How effing cool are those things!! Not only are they incredibly functional but it's just fun to say. "Sporks", yep... It's still fun.
