Actually if your calories are at maintenance on higher days and just under with the carb change on low days, you will gain mass. It depends on how lean the gains are going to be as to how many cals you consume, hence the name. This is not a fast bulker by any means but the gains are solid ( unless you run PH/DS then the gains are much quicker! ) :firedevil:
I wonder how this style of eating will do on a PH cycle? Got any plans to test it out fin?
Yeah this type of eating is going to be good for any situation in my opinion. Remember what works off cycle will always work on cycle, however what works on cycle can often backfire off cycle. If people dedicate enough time to learning their body and what works before trying AAS or PH then they will do well on the cycles as well.
I am not a good student of this philosophy, I experimented on cycle which was not the best plan, luckily I chose two proven plans (UD2.0 and leangains) that netted me excellent gains. Had my body help up to the UD2.0 workout routine better, I am sure I would have shredded up more, in two weeks I cut up like crazy so I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a total recomp diet (I suggest you run it off cycle the first time, it is not for the faint of heart).
The one thing that I know works for me is a higher fat, low carb diet and each of what I did during the cycle was like that with the exception of UD2.0 carb ups. There are a few tweaks I am making to my diet right now as the contest nears a close to lean up as much as I can though it is a fine line... don't want to lose what I gained.

It's been a long, yet short ride to the finish line. Pre-congrats to everyone who stuck it through.
Even though I am not in the competition I am holding myself to the standards as if I were while also having the freedom to experiment. I have found that Intermittent Fasting suits me very well. I am positive my abs will be on display in two weeks time, and I am happy about it!

They are a lot more on display then mine are right now in the last picture you posted... :firedevil:
Just a few updates, I am sitting at a solid 211. Considering how much I put on, to be down ~4 pounds is not a big deal, actually I look better now that at the end of my cycle actually. Today I will carb up starting in the afternoon, shoot for 650-800 grams as that is all I need to fill up something fierce. It will be nice to see what the muscle looks like full again.
Workout highlights from yesterday:
Incline DB Bench - 90x8x2, 90x6 No spotter and excellent form
Flat BB Bench - 225x8x2 felt awesome, was spotting a guy repping 405 so... 275x1.5 PR central by 30 pounds. I got one rep on my own very clean, rep 2 was for fun, I was pretty shot by that point but it was fun and my shoulders did not hurt. This heavier benching is fun...![]()
3200 calories? That's a lot of carbs! What does your body do with all that?
Doug, do you carb up for your competitions the night before?
That's the way I am doing it now, I've tried other methods and failed, this is a siimple way for me to do it. One of the secrets to carb ups is to keep the fat very low...
As long as you don't sustain the carbs for longer tahn 24 hours and keep you're fat low you should not gain fat, howevr it will kickstart your metabolism and you will lose more the next week, nice tool for fat loss and for sanity...
Yeah I just eat my normal keto type food, then when I start my carb up, keep the fats low and protein moderate. By the end of it you are so damn full there is no need for more, then you wake up massive in the morning!
I'm learning a lot from DW if I ever do go into a contest...these are nice things to know :yup:

This is kind of a mix between the carb up from the Game Over Diet by the Scivation guys, and Skiploading.
If you want to read a little more about this type of carb load google skiploading, or sh1tloading. Hard to believe it has been a year and a half since I found the skiploading strategy and brought it up to Doug during his prep. Doug has toned down the carbs a bit from what is suggested there so that he does not have to flush as much, slowed water intake so that there is nothing to spill over and the muscle pulls all the sub-q water into the muscle leaving him pretty dry.
However when leaner and right before a comp the higher carbs would probably still be of more benefit. Your muscle can still hold a bit more water and glycogen when you start to spill over. Yet you need to be sub 6% otherwise the tiniest bit of water that may cling to you is going to smooth you out. But if leaner you look so sick and there is absolutely no possible way for you to come in flat.
The idea is to eat enough carbs that your muscle can retain no more glycogen and or water. Then once you have achieved this go back to normal carbs and double your water intake so that you flush out the excess water while staying very full. Knowing how fast you can drop water is clock work once you learn your body which you do carb ups weekly so you will have an idea of how long it takes to flush water. Then there is the Hot bath with epsom salt you can do if you happen to spill over more than expected.
The hot bath with epsom salt is an awesome trick I found in an on another forum. Basically it draws the water out from under your skin from by making the water outside your body less dense than what is inside and the heat causes thepores to open and you sweating. YOu can drop several lbs of subq water iver night with this method. Give it a shot one night. GO eat an azzload of carbs until you bloat. Then run a bath as hot as you can stand it with 2 -3 cups of epsom salt in it. To get it really hot start it hot move the water around until salt is dissolved then get in before it is full and let it fill up while it gets hotter and hotter. Your body will adjust. 10-15 minute soak then get out towl off and go to bed do not drink any more water. When you wake up you will be both full and dry.
Yeah it is really cool that you found the way to apply it best to you. Did you read the Game Over Diet? The peak week plan is the night before you eat a huge peice of cheesecake, a large baked potato and some other goodies. I didn't get enough carbs in because I was afraid of the cheese cake... DUMB! Should have done it I was so lean I couldn't have spilled over. However it was my first contest and I had no one to help with the peak week just things I read.
yah last minute food does not harm you, I think that it takes a few days for fat to show anyhow.... I don't do my best thinking at these times...
Remove the thinking from the equation, have a plan and stick to it, if this doesn't work, then do this or that. I can imagine you have a lot on your mind the last 24 hours before a show, I would think a written plan would be a great way to get the important things done without having to over-think or make risky decisions.
Should be good to go. Funny I am looking like I may be able to squeeze down into a 181-183 competition weight if I felt like it. I could do well at a regional NPC show in the top of my class like that. If the had a tall and short class I would be in the bottom of the tall class in height and top of the weight class in weight. Oh yeah I said no competitions didn't I? LOL
Nice! I would hazard a guess but I will wait.
Alright, my plan is to have my pictures taken next Wednesday as I will be gone the rest of that weekend and I won't be able to put together the best package if I wait. I have my plan in place for the day of the shoot and it will be fun just to do something like this, kind of a peak weak type deal for a contest. The owner of Metroflex and I put a plan together and it will be pretty involved the rest of the week but should be a fun challenge. Looking pretty good in the mirror, haven't lost too much size at all, just not as full at the moment as I was when I was on Epi. Great shoulder/trap workout yesterday and should be a good day today as well.
Funny thing for me is this will be the first time I have mowed the lawn of body hair since I swam, man it will be weird to see that! I will see if I can clip it down enough that I am happy, shaving is really not high on my list of things I want to do Tuesday night if I can avoid it.
Looks like you guys have some thought going into this.. a little more than taking some pics![]()

Yah I just booked my tanning girl (she makes house calls) and my photographer (a girl I work with) is in the process of booking a studio now.
I'm jealousy.
You are naturally darker than them without being exposed to the sun, they have to get sprayed or painted, no need to be jealous man.I'm jealousy.
With that androhard you are going to come in rock solid Sam... I am jealous of your stack, trust me.
^Chris knows his stuff, I suggest you run a few ideas by him Sam. I want to compete against everyone at their best so if you come in looking lean, cut and full, at least I know I may have been beaten by the best person. Plus, we all have worked really hard, should have something to show for it.

Yeah he should come in looking good. I think Samuel has bigorexia, he doesn't realize his own physique. Also remember this is a transformation contest, not an ab contest. You have dropped a huge amount of weight and I would wager added some muscle with some of your recent lifts. A few water tricks and a good carb up and you may be surprised how you look. Although guys, just in case take some pics in the same lighting and what not. I can't remember if they said it had to be close to what it was in the first pic or not. Might as well have some on hand just in case.
I may have mentioned it earlier, but being the responsible DS user I am, I got blood work done a few weeks into my PCT. That said, the results were very surprising in a good way. Here is a little breakdown:
Liver - all good except AST and ALT were above normal, she said it is nothing to worry about as they are just out of range. Kudos to support supps!
Cholesterol:
Total - 151
Triglyceride - 47 (said this is the lowest she has ever seen :bigok: )
HDL - 25 (low but obvious as to why, two methyls!)
LDL - 117 (higher than my normal level but not bad
Test and DHEA:
DHEAS Adult - 215 ug/dl
Total test - 289 ng/dL (yeah, its low but the beginning of my PCT sucked, it is going up I can feel the difference)
Free test - 92.9 pg/mL (said it was high, DAA, Phyto and Fadogia do work as this shows)
The rest showed all excellent health. I got a cringe when I told her about the clomid/nolva PCT, without saying it directly, she said nolva is ****e. Then again, she did say about the same thing about clomid but oh well. For the shocker of her finding that out, she was happy I am being "responsible" about it and told her to let her know what I am doing in the future so she can monitor my health more closely.
Workout are going well, had a good chest/tris session yesterday though with the carbs so low and cals down some my strength is slowly dropping. Cardio sessions are nuts, I take 2 shift with my pre-workout and I am drenched after them, it is good stuff. I wish my back would have allowed for this 6 weeks ago, you all would have been totally screwed if that was the case!!!!! Today is just cardio then I have my final days before my photos next week. I cannot come in after Easter in perfect shape as I am traveling so they are being done early, lucky for all of you! :bigok:
No I am going through a great deal of trouble to improve the lighting situation... they didn't mention anything about it.
Good stuff that test will come back up and free test is good so you shouldn't lose muscle and it will only increase as you go along. The cholestral is always flipped upside down. How were you rlivers? Did you ask for them to be checked too? Would be called billirubens if on there. I am sure the spelling there isn't right but phonetically speaking...
Doug sounds good regarding the lighting. I didn't pay enough attention to what they said the rules were since I couldn't compete.

It's been way too long without an update guys I know, been real busy with my prep these last few days and am doing a new job due to an employee passing away so life is hectic. I have my carb up going on now and should have the photo shoot going on tomorrow evening for the contest. I will drop in later and give a more detailed update of what I did etc...
