VolcomX311 + Needtobuildmuscle Contest Log. NeedToBuildMuscle & MrSupps

L-Glutamine does wonders for the immune system as well as aiding in protein synthesis and scavenging. Some people say the bioavailability is not high but that is incorrect. Only about half of it makes it to the muscle that is true but the other half is not waisted it is taken to the liver and used to stimulate the immune system, it is also the first amino that the body goes after in the muscle when cortisol is high. Some thing to think about.

I ain't making that trip up without a tube or sled to enjoy the high speed danger on the way down... I am thinking Steelers on this one too. My daughter who is six told me I was wrong! She is for the Vikings probably likes the name. LOL

lol-i can't believe tg is not a vikings fan.......:wtf:

UFC 126 Spoiler Post

Pro's: The Shogun Rua vs JBJ (announcement) was uber exciting.

Con: Anderson Silva not only won, but won by yet another single attack KO.

Great overall card, it just ended horrendously. I managed to have an uber healthy eat-out dinner at the sports bar last night; 10oz steak with double broccoli (subbed out the rice). I sure as hell wouldn't pay $11 for a weak ass meal like that if I weren't cutting, but what can you do.

Superbowl day, yet another dietary balancing act.

i bet you would get one hell of a workout trying to climb up a steep, steep drudge here in indiana today, lol. just got 3 inches of snow to go with the inch of ice.:dead:

One thing i can say for California is that I can "visit" the snow and come home to a sunny neighborhood, that being said, I don't think this added luxury is worth our cost of living.

Thanks for the suggestion Kleen, but my supplement budget has been met and exceeded for this run, so maybe a future consideration.

Yeh the Silva fight pissed me off bad. A couple minutes into the fight they havent done more than look at each other, and then you blink and the fights over....that sucked

Seriously if Silva wasnt the champ Dana White would be chewing him out after his fights. (he did get an ear full from him last year) Anyhow GSP will clean up sheilds then make the jump to 185 and end Silvas career

THIS!!!!!! I can't wait I have been calling that GSP would make the jump up for well over 2 years. Once he got the power coach he got so big he was having to cut a good amount of weight to land in at 170. He won't have to cut as much for the 185 fight but how will conditioning be? It's GSP you know how his conditioning will be. I can't friggin wait!!!!

well...for three months out of the year it probably is.

indiana will most likely hike taxes to pay for this snow and ice removal..:dead:

You're telling me. I sort of expected Silva to win, but it should have been a battle, not another one-hit-wonder KO.

Well, we'll see. My money is intellectually on GSP, because he can out wrestle Silva, but Silva has had one too many miracle one-hit knock outs and no even via haymaker or high kick; apparently Andy only needs to find a way to touch your body somewhere.

GSP will be a beast at 185lbs.

Thanks a lot Chevy, you too. Everybody's working hard :usa2: I'm in Los Angeles County, we get taxed to hell and back and back to hell and back again.

and I think Rua will struggle with JBJ's egregious reach advantage. Certainly Shogun has the superior striking technique in general and is a more versatile striker, but getting inside JBJ's 85.5 inch reach is ridiculous and that reach isn't only good for striking, but he can wrap a leg from further away when he shoots too. He's like the Michael Phelps of MMA, just great genetics in naturally explosive hips and a tough anatomy to deal with.

Well, I made it through UFC 126/Super Bowl weekend without cheating in any manner, so that's good. Saturday was a caloric genocide in terms of cardio and today (Sunday) was all rest. Back at the grind tomorrow.

The Superbowl was a good game. The Steelers really put up a fight and kept the game competitive in spite of 3 fatal turn overs. Neither team playing were "my" team, so I just chose to go with The Packers and it ended well.

With the UFC 126 card, you can't help but respect Anderson Silva, but I don't like that dude. Ever since that Demian Maia fiasco, he made my red list for life, but its hard to deny his talent. I'm hoping GSP will end his annoying, while spectacular reign.

Jon Bones Jones. He's the new generation of MMA fighters; he's the full package; he can strike, wrestle, GnP, grapple and has submissions. Only a handful of guys have ALL of it and can EXECUTE each discipline in an effective manner. He could be the 23-24 year LHW champ by March.

This weekend was very hard to keep from cheating I know. Keeping focused between a great UFC card and the super bowl in the same weekend says you have your priorities straight and eyes on the prize:)

Machine Lat Pull Downs - Behind The Neck
190lbs x 10 reps
195lbs x 9 reps
200lbs x 8 reps

PM: Real workout tonight, Chest, a second cardio session is questionable.

I'm still a bit heavy to do weighted pull ups, but I'll build up to it. For now, I'll do what I can and as my weight drops and strength goes up, the weighted pull ups will become more and more manageable.

Weight was 212.5 this morning, down from 220. I don't start "looking" particularly lean until about 200lbs. I'm starting to get the, "you look bigger" comments, which is a perception primarily due to more landscape showing across my upper back, traps and more shapely delts. I always get the "you look bigger" comment when I'm cutting, so things are moving right along.

Hell yeah Volcom.. It's nice getting those comments. Isn't it?

I don't know. I'm pretty hard on myself, so I don't take compliments all that seriously. I think I'm thinking to myself, "thanks, but I could be better, but thanks I guess," I don't know why that is.

Heck yeah he is lol. There is no quit in this guy, and he is def his worse critic, which is why he keeps doing so well. Only we can push ourselves the most. It will take me years to get even close to his levels.

Yea I bet Segal could teach Silva some sweet acting skills to.....

I can't stand Stephen Segal. I'd like to beat the fukk outta that beeyatch!!:chairshot: :smashfreakB:

We still have our Christmas tree up also. I feel melancholy as I'm taking it down each year.

I'm the same way, but I don't deserve compliments.

lol, I don't know what Seagal offers an MMA'ist. Seagal is like a 6th Level Dan in Aikido, but Aikido doesn't work in MMA or probably real life. I've yet to see any punches or kicks fluidly reversed, then the attacker summer-salting vigorously away with from a nonchalant flick of the wrist.

Short of choreographed demo's, I don't see where Aikido can be used in a real, full-speed fight situation. I took Aikido before and the whole time I'm thinking, "if the attacker doesn't know the move I'm trying to do and is not aware of how he's suppose to appropriately flip away, I'm screwed."

That made my chest hurt and I havent worked it out this week. Wow.

Aikido is all about knowing how to use your opponents movements against them. Every technique doesn't have to be a throw. Its about knowing how to move your opponent to your advantage. People do it in the ring all the time. For instance, you are locked up with someone in an over under clench. You step back with your left foot, they have no choice but to follow with their right foot (if they don't they set themselves up for an outside single), when they step, you use their momentum for a hip toss. Yea, its judo and wrestling, but thats aikido too.

Personally i've slipped a punch to the outside, caught the wrist and used it flip them onto their back, and that was in an actual street fight. Obviously this doesn't happen often. You just have to remember that most martial arts are tied together in some way. Wing Chun uses the same principles as aikido, judo, and wrestling. The major difference between these is how "hard" or "soft" they are.

Day 23 AM/PM

AM Cardio: 25 min HIIT on the treadmill; Cardio sucked this morning. Lately, I've felt my cardio level has improved and cardio was becoming easier, but this morning, my legs felt like lead and the fatigue I got from the sprint intervals were excessive.

PM Lift: O-lift and Delts

Olympic Snatch
135lbs x 5 reps
145lbs x 4 reps
155lbs x 4 reps
155lbs x 2 reps

Hang Cleans
135lbs x 5 reps
185lbs x 5 reps
205lbs x 5 reps
225lbs x 1 rep [this dropped me into a full front squat, my power is diminishing]

One Arm Db Snatch; super-set to Standing Military Press
60lbs Db's x 5 reps, each arm; 135lbs x 5 reps
80lbs Db's x 4 reps, each arm; 135lbs x 5 reps
80lbs Db's x 1 rep, each arm, 135lbs x 5 reps

Seated Military Press
135lbs x 10 reps
185lbs x 10 reps
205lbs x 6 reps
225lbs x 10 reps [I don't know where that came from]

It feels like my strength is going up, but my power is diminishing. My body feels pretty beat today, tomorrow will be just cardio. Hopefully I get a good nights sleep tonight, I feel like my body really needs it.

Get some good sleep bud, so you can get back to doing what you do best...KILLING IT!!

great job!!!
i am amazed you haven't lost more strength as fast as you are losing bodyweight!!!!

I just hit 225 on the military Press for 10 for the first time in my life, last night [I go down to the clavicle]. CN/Meso is all I can think of..... Some lifts have gone up, some have gone down. It's primarily my Olympic lifts that feel as though they're diminishing performance-wise, however, strength-wise I'm at the very least maintaining, if not going up, at least for now, knock on wood :umbrella:

and thanks Big.

no problem-i speak the truth. i just hope you don't get burnt out. if lethargy gets bad, take a damn rest day.

push hard, just don't get stupid about it, lol.:aargh:

btw-really great progress so far.:147:

Yup..the inevitable..youre gonna look like a fuggin chiseled tank though..dont let it phuck with ya..as soon as you increase cals later on, all that strength will come roaring back...keep on the path your on Sammy!

Day 25AM

I had another bout with insomnia last night. I woke up at 3:00am and didn't fall back asleep until 4:30am. I woke back up at 7:00am and couldn't muster the energy for my morning cardio. I felt like death when I woke up. Had it been a Saturday, I would have said eff it, lets go, but I couldn't afford to come to work even more zombified then I've been lately.

I may muster the energy by the end of the work day to hit the gym tonight. Tomorrow is my big back day with the guys, that's the important one. Today was meant to be a rest day anyway, but I would have done cardio this morning had I got a full night's sleep.
