Been busy goin' back to GA to grab our crap and now going back to Indie soon, but have hit the gym down here. While I was here I just concentrated on form and was still able to nab my 95x10 without much problemo. In a few days I better be posting that I hit 100x10, but we shall see I guess. I think I finally found a spotter up there, so that's a plus.

Starting to feel it in my elbows. Don't think I need any wraps just yet though. When did you guys start wrapping them? Around what weights I mean.

On another random note, what pre-WOs do you guys use?

Once I got up to 100lbs I had to wrap the left elbow, and if doing more than 15 reps or over 130 lbs I wrap them both. The APT wraps rock. Go here for the best wraps in the world
http://www.prowriststraps.com/knee_wrap_powerlifting_knee_wrap_exercise_weight_lifting
and on checkout type in LIFE in the coupon box for 15% off. That goes for all products.

For preworkout fixes ASGT is my favorite. Next would be either White Flood or Jack3d.

The samples I've received in the past have all been the old formula, so if you can get your hands on some of them, that's the way to go. Like you, the new stuff just doesn't cut it for me.

Or there's always ASGT. :naughty:

Gawd-dang.

White Flood is the LSD of pre-workouts. The nootropic effects on the first 2-3 doses are ridiculous for me.

I've been loving Maximize V2, but after I started the second tub it stopped giving me such...umph. Guessing tolerance build up? Thinking of grabbing Jack3d again(new flavor ofcourse) or trying ASGT. Thinkin' ASGT. Can't go wrong trying all the best products.

And for a good laugh... I was at my dads house for a few days and we worked out at his YMCA down in FL. For the first time in my life, I saw a kid curling the bar in the squat rack. I thought he was warming up maybe but couldn't help but smile when he put 5s on the end and only got 6. Poor guy went back to the bar after that, lol.

Any news on the next friendly comp yet? We takin' votes? Have had a lot of great suggestions. Gonna hafta put a cap on TG, P, AG, and, well, everyone else in here. Give me a chance ;) :p

Good to see everyone improving though, this friendly comp really seems to give a boost(esp. for those of us with no workout partner). Great idea for starting it :)

ASGT, Jack3d, Maximize; they're all in the same price range so you really can't go wrong - you're bound to like at least one. And if more than pleases you, cycle 'em!

As for the next challenge, my vote is for either DB Swings or Chin-ups.:bigok:

Chin ups FTW!
Yeah, my line of logic was that we've now done a "push" movement that is fairly easy on the CNS and that people can incorporate into just about any routine. So why not do the same with a pull?

BB curls are out, IMO, simply because of the issue of form - the weight gets high and body language comes into play. But with Chins, it's pretty strict all the way to failure unless you begin kipping about like a gutted fish.

Ok guys due to a miscalculation i ended up doing more then I wanted...but im not complaining:

Standing Barbell Overhead Tricep extensions:

95x8
135x5
165x1
165x2

So what i thought was 160 ended up being 165 since i grabbed the 5lb plates instead of the 2.5lb plates.

My weight is 183.

Nowhere near the best, but like i said Im doing my best to catch up. But i may need to rest from these since i almost blew out my left elbow today. Close call but i stopped before anything bad happened.

Congrats TG, thats some massive weight.

Hey now, I will do mini kips for that last rep or two just so I can lower slowly but the ones that lead up to is are perfect form. Although I wouldn't actually put this move into a category of being easy on the CNS. However this may be one of the most beneficial contests for pulling. Would it be for max reps on body weight or who can load the most up and go for it? I hit 15 yesterday at 200 lbs which is a PR for me at this body weight.

I say maybe after Chins we can do the Standing Military Press that NCAA68 mentioned earlier.

Damn GH every time you touch the weights you make me need to re-evaluate my next attempt. I may just have to see what I can do at 135 or even 150. I don't think I will go much above that at this point. Not without some elbow wraps.

Well it seems my issue may be a triceps issue the back workout yesterday did not have any negative effect on my elbow as far as I can tell.

Here's a vid. I love 'em for general conditioning and as a DL accessory. BW actually has a day right now where she does these for a ridiculous amount of volume.

I thought they would be a good test of everybody's grip, core and conditioning.

You're right, Chins aren't particularly easy on the CNS in comparison to say, curls or the DB extensions we're doing currently. I do think they're easier than some other pulls, such as Deads or heavy BB rows, though, which was what I was getting at.

Military would be fun; push press or jerk would be even better! :sgrin:

Kleen i would not advice you go up to 150 just yet. Climb up steadily in weight b/c i almost injured myself pretty badly making the jump to 165. You mastered 125 i say go for 130-135 and slowly work your way up.

I tried it with elbow sleeves but mine are kinda old so they didnt give me the support i needed. Ill be ordering new ones soon.

Chins has my vote. I think it should just be total weight pulled not just labeled as bw. Like Kleen said, 200lbs x 15 reps
For me it would be 230 x ____ and then weighted would be 300 x ____
September sound good?????

I also think Chins could be a bad idea. Like Resolve said, some people wind up kipping around like a gutted fish and count that shit as legitimate reps. I also think that BB Bentover Rows should be out because people tend to let their form slip on these also and end jerking the weight up and down with lots of body english.

My vote goes to 1-Arm DB Rows.

Most guys I've watched don't cheat on these. Most of the time. Just make sure that everyone is doing full ROM going all the way up and all the way down.

I'm down for a competition with these!!!:head:

Those are sick if your gym has the floor clamps, otherwise, you need a partner to put their foot on the other end (while against a wall, preferably a corner) or the bar comes flying up (when there's enough weight on there).

DB Rows would be good. I still like the idea of chins, those who kip up and all that mess are only robbing themselves. However in the spirit of competition we don't want people doing partials without full extension or kipping like a fish out of water. Here is an example of my idea of what is an acceptable kip up on the last rep of each set. I am happy to see I am getting full extension on these. I am huge on that aspect of training.

I say dead lifts, even though I can't play with my lumbar issues. Andy Bolton's crew do dead lift contests at their little gym, but they don't pull for max weight. They pick a standard (for them it was 495 I think) and just see who can pull it the most times. Maybe a 225 standard would be reasonable for AM?

Andy's best with 495 is 30 reps I think. You can YOUTUBE it, but I forgot how. I was originally following someone else's videos and I noticed Andy Bolton was in this one, and that was the contest, but I forgot who's name I was using.

Andy DL's 1,000+lbs for the record, in case you didn't know who Andy Bolton was.

I couldn't find Bolton's 495 for 30 reps. But I found Poundstone doing 800 for 9 reps!!!
I'm not sure if I've EVER seen anyone pull that much weight for that many reps. Remember, Ronnie Coleman only got 2 reps with this poundage!!

I found Bolton doing 800 for 5 reps. But to his defense, this was after a max effort. And he wasn't using wrist straps like Poundstone. Nor did he "jack" the weight up using his thighs to rest the bar on half-way through the rep. And the freakin' weights slipped off one end of the bar at the end of rep 5.

Both are amazing feats of raw power!!!

Both are absolute beasts, but in Andy's further defense, Andy was doing a stop & pause dead lift, which is an actual & literal dead lift, whereas, Poundstone was utilizing the bounce technique, which is a legit assist (via Newton's Third Law of Motion). Nonetheless, beasts.

Poundstone also has quads for forearms. Dude is beefy.
