LOL. I'm pretty sure you can come up with some creative answers on your own there, Scott :D

Um, you already know what I look like. And much respect for those females who DO look like that, since it DOES take a lot of time and work and effort etc. (and steroids); but I would never in a million years ever want to look like that. I'm pretty ok with the size I am now, thanks.

He was referring to me and the comment I made!

LOL  My bad. Yeah, I guess. A bit DISTRACTED would be a better term for it :biglaugh:

A lot of times women don't lift heavy because they are too scared that they will look "manly". I think Rosie and I both prove that you can be strong and feminine at the same time. :)

Too many females (and males) are ignorant of what it actually takes for a female to "look like a man"; and that training hard and heavy (withOUT hormonal use) will make one look BETTER than cardio or endless reps or ridiculously light weights. Which is why I wrote my article (Breaking the Myth: "If I lift heavy I'll end up looking like a man") last year.
Ya my gf was asking for new lifts to do so I showed her a few. I picked up a EZ bar and she said, "no way am i touching that, I cant lift anything over 10lbs otherwise ill look all manly"

my 1st response was, "with your horse **** diet, you dont gotta worry about building muscles" and then I asked her for proof.

Not trying to offend any female lifters but it was a typical girl response, kinda made me mad.

10lb is nothing! Tell her you know females who lift in excess of 100lb and are all sexy curves and feminine muscle!

That response gets on my nerves as well; and unfortunately is a pretty common misconception. Which is why I don't like training females much because they just want to hear that they can get the body that they want by eating next to nothing and only doing cardio; and it doesn't work that way.

Thats what i thought!! We got to different gyms and I dont see her lift or anything, prolly a good thing!

Ya shes training for a marathon so she runs often/long distances, but she was wondering how to shed some more lbs and look better so I told her to hit the weights.

Ill have her read that article tomorrow when I see her, Imma skim threw it right now, just bugs me why girls think like this.

You just have to encourage her bro. Tell her things like...

"My, you're looking fat today."

"Have you seen the doughnuts?"

"If I were to define the word 'weakling' I would just put your picture."

Just treat her right, man. She'll come around.

...but seriously, I don't have any good advice. I've never reversed a woman's thinking in this aspect. It's nearly impossible.

I'd feel so disgusting and violated if I was touched by a woman that looked like that.

EW! Yeah, I'd feel pretty violated.

I'm disappointed in myself if I can only lift less than 100 lb on my compound movements. Seriously, there is a lot of proof even in my own log that heavy weights do not = masculinity. Show her my numbers, then show her Rosies, Dragonfly's and my pictures. :D

Yep! That should solve it! We've got an awesome group of female gym rats on AM!

Where has Dr.Agonfly been, anyways?

I used to HATE weight lifting. HATE it. I could not stand the thought of touching a weight... the burn... the pain... the mass that I would gain! AHHHH!!! Don't make me touch those weights!

Well, Resolve really changed my thinking while we were dating! I would tell him on a regular basis that I did NOT want to work out and that I was only doing it to support him. Started out as spotting him then I started picking up those 8 pounders. As Resolve educated me more I realized that it 8 lbs was pointless and upgraded. Thats when it began getting fun!

He didn't change my mind with those kind of comments though! :p

i hope to meet a girl just like you and rosie sometime in my gym and they would truly change and rock my world. esp if they looked at me ooo :)

Thanks for the suggestions, didnt even think about having her look over at log! Perfect example right there.

She thinks she knows everything but shes just started "fluffy weights" like 3-4 months ago. Not saying I know everything but I think yallz get my drift :D

Sorry for the hijack if you consider it one BW

BW actually didn't start off our relationship with anything like her current fitness habits.

I had to be very patient with her, and encouraging, but firm. I made it clear from the get-go that if "we" were to have a future together, she'd have to start living and eating healthier.

I also made it clear that this was not primarily for any aesthetic purpose, but for her general well-being. Even at 20+% BF, the chick was hot; that wasn't the issue. I just had no intention of being with or marrying someone whose lifestyle was detrimental. I must've told her on a weekly basis that I wanted her around for a long time and that her current habits weren't conducive to that happening.

I gave her options as far as exercise, but she always wanted to be with me, so I taught her weight-lifting.

let me guess... you guys arent together anymore
wouldnt surprise me.
i mean if you wanted to be with her so bad you would
have taken her with 20 percent body fat
sorry but that was just to much
caring about someones health is good but your far passed that

Excuse me?

Actually we started going out when I was 30% BF, and he married, "took me" when I was at 24% BF. It was my decision to get down to 16% not Resolve's.

He has been most supportive of me this whole time we have been together. He has helped me set healthy goals, and encouraged me, stuck by my side even when my friends thought I was stupid for changing my habits. Resolve helping me out in this area has been one of the best things for me. He is one of the least shallow people I have ever known. I wouldn't have married him if I didn't feel this way. If he hadn't come into my life, I would probably be an obese, under confident lady on the road to a life of diabetes.

Ah cool, 30bf to 16bf how long has it been? Pretty good progress IMO. Not just a husband or a bf but its good to have someone to fall back on who will help you out.

Idk if your a body builder or just like to keep a fit and healthy lifestyle, best decision ive made and one of the few I havent looked back on!

It has been nearly 2 years. I lost the first 7% the first year and fluctuated by 4% until recently. I went from 23% down to what I am now in the last 8 months.

I would definitely call myself a body builder. I love lifting heavy weights.

:lol:Thank you! :)

Guys and Girls, do not go bashing my husbands character. Seriously.

First off, let me thank you deeply for adding just that little extra bit of sunshine to my EASTER SUNDAY.

You have certainly lived up to your screenname.

Second; we are approaching our 10th month of marriage and BW and I have a wonderful relationship - we are best friends as well as lovers and hate to spend time apart.

And I did take her with 20% BF - if you had actually paid attention to my post, it was not for her appearance that I wanted her to change her habits. It's because they were simply unhealthy.

I invested my heart and soul into this woman and I take good care of those whom I love, including doing what I can to promote their health.

Would I be a better husband for allowing my wife to eat junk food, transfats and processed sugar all day even though I am extremely aware of the heart, hormone, cholesterol and insulin problems those cause?

It is the duty, obligation and indeed privelege of "significant others" (oh how I hate that term) to support and teach and learn from each other. I love BW for who she is, but to accept that how she is currently as how she will always be is shortsighted and downright stupid. Of course she is going to change - we will have children, she will further her career, I will further my career. The Point is is that through that change that will mount over the years, that we strive to better each other and help each other improve as we are able.

Frankly, if a relationship does not promote mutual self-betterment, what is the point? Sex? Fun? That's not a relationship.

I cared enough to point out what was wrong, why it was wrong, and how to change it. I've invested countless hours to teaching BW, to the point that she knows weightlifting and nutrition almost as well as I do. Now, I may benefit secondarily from that, but who has gained the habits nevessary to stay fit and healthy for the rest of her life?

Imparting that kind of knowledge is hardly something I would call shallow, Heartless.

If she's serious about marathons, then gaining muscle mass would be detrimental to that. She should be training for muscular endurance and muscular strength in the gym, and this DOES mean lighter weights (note I said lightER, NOT light), and her training should be specific for running (i.e. targeting strengthening the back and core (since running power comes from here; and also such strength will help her time to exhaustion) and legs). Runners have a tendency to be lean as it is, due to their training. However, she needs to eat for energy as well.

It can be. I tried telling a client once when she was on the horizontal leg press, and even having me standing there telling her I lifted heavy she didn't believe me (she actually didn't believe that I lifted at all) :sigh1:

Yep, the logs are a great place to start. Crader has one as well in the Workout Logs forum.

"Fluffy" weights are ok for a BEGINNER who's just learning the correct technique. Although I think that a heavier weight that you can handle for ~15RM is better for balance/stability, etc. However, once 2-3 weeks is over, one should have good technique enough to progress and begin challenging themselves!

Just want to wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER!

Resolve and I are going to spend this afternoon with our family. Eating rib roast and a variety of other delicious things! :)

Ugh! I hated training people like that. Nobody ever accused me of not lifting, but they definitely argued with things I had to say...hence why I don't do that anymore. I just couldn't put up with it.

Yes. And you've done a mighty fine job doing it!

Absolutely. A bodybuilder is not just someone who gets up on stage. A bodybuilder is anyone who works on creating/building a better body for themselves.

Yes. Which is one reason why I like training males. AND I can PUSH them and they WANT to be pushed (sometimes they want to progress faster than they should); and be frank and honest with them about their goals, etc. AND most of them want to LEARN about what they're doing; an essential aspect when I train someone, since I like them to know what they are doing and WHY and educate them on all areas of their fitness management, so that they have the tools to manipulate themselves to continue making progress and achieving their goals when I am no longer their trainer.

My favorite clients were either most men, or middle aged women (45-55). At that age, it seemed like a lot of women just came to reality and said to themselves, "Okay, obviously what I'm doing isn't working...what can it hurt to actually listen to someone for a change?" I was know as the trainer that made people puke...literally...because it happened on more than a few occasions. :D

...sometimes I'd even workout with my clients to encourage them a little. At least then they can't use the excuse, "I don't see you doing it!"

Hmmm, the only women that actually listened or wanted to know were those that participated in either recreational or competitive sport (so I think that if I ever really wok with females again they need to be athletes; and actually, in general, athletes are my preferred clients). All the males were like sponges with the information, etc., and even ASKED for it (I actually miss a couple of my clients from last year)! It's great, when you can share your passion and know that you're making a difference!

I laugh at all the female personal trainers at our gym. The twenty year olds don't look like they lift weights at all. They look like the type of girls who do cardio 5 days a week and eat whatever they want in small portions. So they are very small and flabby. And the older trainers look like they starve themselves- completely emaciated. And these people train others on a daily basis. The routines they teach are pretty ridiculous as well. It would be awesome to have a trainer like either of you around!

So, last night I dosed X-Dream sublingually. I was in bed 20 minutes later, exhausted. I slept so very well! I went to sleep at 12am, and woke up at 7:30am completely refreshed. This is very unusual for me.

That's the same with most female trainers here. Fat skinny (who are slender as). Or just plain skinny (i.e. lean with little msucle mass). I actually felt huge next to most of them, to be honest. But I would rather have had my muscle than been nothing else (shudder)...Yes well, you don't have to LOOK like a trainer to be one. Although it DOES help. However, where I was working, it was more about image, and for some reason lean (whatever form it was in) was considered to look (and be) "fit and hot".

Ewww! Skinny-fat people are gross!

Sure are (pity most females seem to think that that's "hot" and want to follow the trend). Muscle is far sexier than fat skinny any day of the week!

Yes I agree, most are not very attractive.

Oh yeah! now that I've got muscle I don't want to give it up! Being muscular has been the best fat burner! :)

Bleh. Not so good. But it isn't that bad either. It's kinda like dirt. Now that I have tried it sublingually I don't want to go back to capsule form because of how quickly it kicks in! :)

On a separate note, I've started sprouting alfalfa in my kitchen. :D My mother in law gave me a sprouting jar with some seeds this last Christmas, and I've finally gotten around to using it. Today they are ready for "harvest" and I cannot believe how green they are! Nothing like the store bought alfalfa.

Ultimately I would like to make some sprouted bread. I have to sprout some wheat berries, but other than that I have everything I need to do it. It should be interesting.

I am feeling very tired, and happy right now. :) Workout was intense and exhausting, but Resolve took me to all you can eat Sushi post workout. It was delicious.:chinese:

Workout:

8x3
Deadlifts: 155, 175, 185, 195, 200, 205 lb

4x10 Circuit:

NG supinated Pull Downs: 120 lb
Split Squats: 20 lb DBs
DB Shoulder Press: 30 lb DBs

3x20

Cable Tricep Extensions: 40 lb
Cable Bicep Curls: 40 lb, 30 lb

I got a great workout after all was said and done. I felt a little sick to my stomach in the middle of my circuit, but it went away by the time I finished. I'm noticing an increase in arm definition nearly every week that I hit the gym. It is very encouraging to see even this little bit of progress.

I took 2 caps of X-Force before lifting for an energy boost. I was feeling very hot and sweaty the whole time- much more than usual. I think the gym's air conditioner wasn't working very well, so that probably contributed.

GG once again gave me a huge arm pump after working out my tris and bis. I'm just glad that I work them out at the end of everything, otherwise it would be really annoying to have my range of motion impeded by the pump.

I've been using Purple Wraath for months now and I haven't gotten sick of the grape flavor. It is really yummy, and hides the taste of the extra BCAAs I put in.

Resolve and I placed an order from Nutra Planet and are expecting some Forskolin and Eviscerate this week. I'm very much looking forward to adding those into my daily routine.

I've done 210 for my last set before, but considering that I have focused on circuits the last couple weeks, and haven't done Deadlifts during this time, I think you are right.

That's definitely a solid deadlift if you haven't been doing them lately. Glad to hear the supps are working for you as well.

Thanks, guys. :) These supplements really are doing their jobs! I'm very satisfied with the line up that I've got!

On the subject of sushi today, I have a story.

Like I said, we went to the "all you can eat" sushi bar. The only problem is that if you don't eat EVERYTHING that you order, they will charge you for what is left on the table. We were aware of this rule, so Resolve and I ordered a realistic amount for the two of us and went at those rolls.

Resolve ordered a "scallops in cream sauce" dish thinking that it would be good. Turned out to be scallops on a bed of rice and sea weed, smothered, absolutely covered in mayonnaise. It was DISGUSTING! There was no way I would make my husband eat that stuff and it was ridiculous to pay for not eating that crap, so I rolled the greasy stuff into a napkin and snuck it into the bathroom trash. :D I felt like a little kid flushing down his veggies, triumphant with success. Never done that before, and I found it kinda fun!

Really? Oh, I like sushi! :) Can never tell the difference between raw salmon, tuna and halibut, but it's yummy. My favorite is the eel. I can see how this stuff could gross people out though. :D
