Volcom's Androlean & Androhard Log

Bummer about the toes, hope it doesnt affect your training.

I used to hate Diaz brothers now I have been a fan of theirs for 2 years.

I was on the train too thinking Mousasi was a big thing. he started to look softer, when he started to have a couple strikeforce fights he bursted out with flurries of pucnhes that were so over whelming.

He was like an early Vitor Belfort, I hear ya.

Odd Epic Day

As a result of this freak, base of my toes inflammation preventing me from walking or balancing with any efficacy, we had to take it back to Barbell presses as oppose to Db's. I wasn't going to be able to walk my Db's from the rack to the bench in the condition of my left foot was one. Every slightest mis-step and it sends a nasty sharp pain at the base of my first three toes.

Flat Bench
225lbs x 10 reps
245lbs x 10 reps
265lbs x 6 reps [Heavy weight wasn't happening and I wasn't about to force another weight disappointing workout, so I decided to take another approach]

Flat Bench Drop Sets
225lbs x 10 reps/135lbs x 10 reps
225lbs x 10 reps/135lbs x 10 reps
225lbs x 10 reps/135lbs x 10 reps

Incline Bench Drop Sets
185lbs x 8 reps/135lbs x 1 1/2 reps.....
185lbs x 8 reps/135lbs x 5 1/2 reps
185lbs x 8 reps/135lbs x 4 1/2 reps [not as successful with the inclines]

Incline Hammer Triple Drop Sets
270lbs x 10 reps/180lbs x 10 reps/90lbs x 10 reps
270lbs x 10 reps/180lbs x 8 reps/90lbs x 10 reps
270lbs x 8 reps/180lbs x 6 reps/90lbs x 8 reps

Hammer Triceps Presses Drop Sets
180lbs x 10 reps/90lbs x 10 reps
180lbs x 10 reps/90lbs x 10 reps
180lbs x 10 reps/90lbs x 10 reps

Incline Cable Flies; Compound-Set to Decline Cable Flies
100lbs x 10 reps/100lbs x 10 reps
100lbs x 10 reps/100lbs x 10 reps
100lbs x 10 reps/100lbs x 10 reps

My workout partner and I had a final burn out reps contest on the decline Cable Flies:

I hit 42 reps
He hit 40 reps

I won! I did my best to turn lemons into lemonade with this one. My strength didn't feel up to par with the weight I intended to work with today, so I moved from the intensity spectrum to the more voluminous spectrum.

My foot is still jacked, I don't know what the hell is up with that. Obviously there won't be any Snatches or Cleans tomorrow, unless I perform them one legged, so it'll be an all delts day tomorrow, but I really hope my foot feels better, its really painful and inconvenient to walk with.

I feel like because hes not your typical "American Wrestler" he doesnt cut weight like one. Yeah plenty of guys cut weight and plenty suck at it. Some what of a sterio type of them not cutting weight as well as Americans jsut like the sterio type in MMA of UK guys not wrestling (of course all this will change and already is with the evolving sport and competition of MAA.

Guys like Fedor, Mousasi, Wandy (till recent) dont cut weight but could. Yeah Mousasi fought at middle recently but he claimed it was unhealthy in one article to be at 185 pounds at this point in his career. I might have to disagree. He needs to hire some coaches (strength, conditioning, nutritionist) to get back to his old self. I bet he already has some but they might not be great I have no idea.

yeah, I read a recent article on Fedor, can't say whether it's farce or not, but according to The Last Emporer, he claims he would be willing to cut down to 205 to fight Henderson, but Strikeforce had not officially approached him about that.

I may have a stroke if I saw Fedor at 205, it's just so far out of my imagination of him ever doing, but I'd be stoked if he did.

I don't know what's going on, but apparently I have three seriously sprained toes on my left foot. Nothing physically traumatic happened that i can think of, but I started off the morning with some discomfort in that foot and now it's causing me some serious limping.

Damn man... injuries are ****. This one sounds particularly like a load of BS. Sweet, thanks foot, for f'king nothing.

Yeah, still hurts today. I'm just completely perplexed at what could have caused it. It didn't stem directly from anything physical that I can think of, I didn't kick a brick wall or drop weights on it, nothing comes to mind. I just woke up with an uncomfortability that grew progressively worse as I sat at my desk at work, to the point of starting the morning with a normal gait to having to limp and limping heavily out of work.

It still hurts today, but if yesterday was a 9/10 pain scale, today is a 7.5. Yesterday, if I just let my foot hang, it'd be unbearably painful, real sharp pains that require immediate posture correction, today, I can hang my foot only with discomfort. I'm taking 800mg Motrin and it seems to be helping.

No cleans or snatches tonight, obviously.

Thanks for logging this, but are we ever gonna get an aesthetic description of what the compounds are doing? Is your chest tighter bigger? Are you vascular? If you had chest fat is it going away? Anything? All I really see is your routine and MMS stuff.

Ouch, that sounds real painful :(
Hope your foot get's back to 100% asap

It'll be wrapped up in pre and post pictures. I did mid-way progress pics for another log and what I learned is that what I see in the mirror isn't what comes across in a picture. I was thoroughly satisfied with the reflection in them mirror, but really disappointed when I saw the photos, so I've been reluctant to report what the mirror is saying. I did take pre ANDROSeries pictures and I'll do post

For me, the size or hardness of a muscle or the appearance of vascularity is up & down. If I'm carbed up, I'm harder then normal, if I'm depleted, I'm softer then normal and less vascular, so day by day reports like that for me, tend to be really, really ambiguous.

I was really happy with how well my chest responded to Monday's drop-set bombs, so I continued the trend for delts.

Seated Military Press Drop Sets
145lbs x 10 reps/95lbs x 10 reps
155lbs x 10 reps/135lbs x 10 reps

As far as the combination of AH/AL goes in gym performance, I feel they seem to accel in muscle endurance, such as drop/super/compound sets, as oppose to high intensity. I've not exeprienced anything extraordiary as far as the heavy end of weight lifting is concerned, but when it comes to more voluminous lifting, I do feel I can do more then normal, both intra-set and general stamina wise.

Thanks for the clarification...i mustve missed that over the 453536453246 pages.

Kinda weird how your muscle hardness and vascularity isnt constantly hard no matter what the diet. i feel like with a regular PH you can get way more out of it by your diet obviously, the muscle hardness and vascularity is there regardless.

I feel like I have this same problem!

That looks like a killer workout, love it!

I'm very interested in the AH/AL stack but really looking for something more to increase strength, I'm hoping everyone sees awesome strength gains from Andromass.

Tellling my story... and the leaner you go the more evident this is, just be happy about the hardness you get from the carb ups. A supp that makes you harder should make you hyper sensitive to carbs. I am getting this off the S4 and original Androhard and it's sweet. I'm a little jealous that you have the new stuff :firedevil: Not to an extreme, I'm pretty happy with how things are going..

Today was my second time dead lifting, so once again I took it lighter, higher reps, but I ended up twinging my erectors, nonetheless. However, I don't think it'll be anything worse than a couple days of slightly painful inflammation. Due to my erectors on the brink of another major re-aggravation, my back workout had to take a turn for whatever I was able to perform and it ended up being a serious traps clinic for the most part.

Dead Lifts
135lbs x 10 reps
185lbs x 10 reps
225lbs x 10 reps
275lbs x 10 reps
315lbs x 5 reps
345lbs x 5 reps
[and there it was, on the 5th rep, I felt my erectors getting that borderline re-aggravation feeling, where bending over caused a minor sharp pain]

Rear Barbell Shrugs
225lbs x 15 reps
315lbs x 10 reps
405lbs x 10 reps
455lbs x 10 reps
495lbs x 6 reps

Hang Cleans
[felt the back on these as well, but not too much]
135lbs x 8 reps
155lbs x 5 reps
155lbs x 4 reps
155lbs x 3 reps
[these are hard to do when the traps are fatigued]

One Arm, Smith-Barbell Shrugs
135lbs x 10 reps, each arm
155lbs x 10 reps, each arm
185lbs x 8 reps, each arm
205lbs x 6 reps, each arm

Behind The Neck Pull Ups
BW x 10 reps
BW x 10 reps
BW x 6 reps
BW x 10 reps

Close, Neutral Grip Pull Ups
BW x 10 reps
BW x 6 reps
BW x 6 reps

Hammer, One Arm Pull Downs
90lbs x 10 reps, each arm
100lbs x 10 reps, each arm
115lbs x 8 reps, each arm
115lbs x 8 reps, each arm

This was the first time I had carbs right before a workout in awhile, so my energy level felt off the charts. I really could have gone on even longer.

I got compliments both about how I'm getting bigger and from other people on how I'm leaning out, so something is working in my favor via the AH/AL.

Loving the "adaptive" workouts. I've been doing much the same do to various injuries and I find it's kind of fun in that you might do some workouts you might not otherwise ever put together. Hope the foot feels better soon.

huge workout bro!

It looks like a lot, but we kept it around 70min and that's only because my buddy smashed his iPhone from the cleans and he was fiddling with this phone between sets for a long time.

Yeah, I still had fun with it. My foot is 100%, it was basically 100% yesterday. It was the weirdest injury.

I have an immense fear of this. I log my workouts on my atrix, and even though it is literally in a tank case (OtterBox defender series), I am paranoid of dropping weight on it.

My iPod touch is slowly dying because of the gym. **** it; the sound is much better than my nano or shuffle.

I've smashe on my ipod nano tons of times doing Oly lifts, but those litte buggers are tough.

hell, i still use my sony walkman, lol.

I remember having to do that. I'd spend hours by the radio trying to catch and record my favorite songs to put on a tape for my runs and for the gym.

Jason Huh probably has the best idea to place his ipod so that it wont get crushed. He has a headband that has an ipod pocket. Any other way ive found it gets crunched somehow, so now I just have to listen to whatever the gym is playing ( sigh )...

That'd be bad news at L.A. Fitness. They play "pop" which I suppose isn't the worst they could be playing, but somehow slow jams make their way into that pop circulation sometimes and that's when it gets really WTF.

Had a long busted weekend. Fatigue had kicked in to the point that I pretty much spent all Saturday and Sunday revolving around naps. I'm upping my Rhodiola to 1000mg a day now, split by two doses of 500mg. I felt good today and it showed. I had the first workout where I didn't feel like I got my butt kicked from the workout in a little while.

Incline Bench
185lbs x 10 reps
205lbs x 10 reps
225lbs x 8 reps
245lbs x 6 reps

Flat Db Presses
90lbs Db's x 10 reps
95lbs Db's x 10 reps
100lbs Db's x 8 reps
105lbs Db's x 8 reps
110lbs Db's x 6 reps

Incline Hammer Press
270lbs x 10 reps
360lbs x 8 reps
380lbs x 8 reps

Hammer Dips - Facing away & tiled to emphasize lower/outer pecs
180lbs x 10 reps
230lbs x 10 reps
270lbs x 10 reps
290lbs x 8 reps

Close Grip Bench; Super-Set to Feet on the Bench Push Ups
185lbs x 10 reps/BW x 10 reps
185lbs x 8 reps/BW x 8 reps
185lbs x 8 reps/BW x 8 reps

Good, solid workout. I keep getting comments from people about getting leaner, which was good, because I was feeling kind of $hitty about being 205lbs this morning and 206lbs for the bulk of the weekend, granted I just sat around all weekend and recovered, energy-wise.

My low back is still a bit tweaked from Deads on Thursday, but I think I'm just going to not go over 315 for awhile and just do deads in the high 6-10 reps range.

I'd like to get my cardio back on point as well.

Very solid workout! Good choice on taking it easier on Deads if your lower back is tweaked. Have you been slacking on cardio a alot when you wanna get it back on point? ;)

Since having a workout partner, I don't use headphones, but I have just learned to block out the sound of the music.

Yah depending on how lean you get deads may not be a good idea, I never do deads sub 10% bf, you don't realize how much stabilization a little extra fat gives you till you tweak your back or something. Compound lifting for me is not a good idea in the latter part of prep... Some of you younger guys seem to get away with it but if you do go lighter than normal... I can always get a lot more done with isolated movements at this time anyway as my strength is good but my power is not.

Don't know how you can do oly lifts with headphones... I don't use them, I find it makes me better if I can block out Britney Spears while benching over 500< I see it as a challenge.

Yah you have to strengthen the brain core by not using headphones...then you can block that shyte out... :yup:

I have to have headphones if I'm working out solo, but I don't use them when lifting with workout parnters.

If I'm with a workout partner then I don't even really hear the music. Back in the day, I used to try and find music that would amp me up, but I don't really do that anymore. I just use it to kill the monotony if I'm hitting it solo.

Thanks and yes, my cardio had been slacking. Last weeks freak foot injury didn't help either, but I got back on the wagon last night.

It was... Idk how she still keeps in the limelight

No kidding, especially since she's apparently a zombie shell of herself as far as live performance are concerned. She gets horrendous reviews, but still stays in the mainstream of pop culture and is still relatively popular.

She used to be hot at one point; her pre K-fed days.

i used to feel guilty drooling over her jailbait ass, lol. faith hill was hot back then too-i didn't feel one bit guilty drooling over her, lol.

brit was hot when she busted out the school girl outfit. damn the front of that CD case was hot. then well she went G.I. jane on us and shaved her dome.
