Yeah, RJD2 is an amazing producer. Have you ever heard of a Chicago artist named Diverse? Most of his tracks are produced by RJ and they are amazing. Illogic has a song called Favourite Things which is one of my top five songs. All around good artists, it's hard to remember them all sometimes...lolBesides all the artists listed above, I like the following:
Gym Class Heroes
Thats all I can think of off the top of my head
Yeah, alot of the artists I like came from NJ during that early 90's period. Artists like the Artifacts for example. If you like that really eastern feel hip-hop then you'd really like alot of the examples given Alexander.I'll have to look into some of these groups. I'm a big 90's hip hop fan. O.C., Royal Flush, Nas, Mobb Deep, Wu, AZ, Bone, WC and Mack10, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Gangstarr, MOP, etc etc. Damn the 90's was the shiot.
Damn I forgot Souls of Mischief existed, thanks for the reminder. I'm definitely gonna check out some of the artists you listed above.Yeah, alot of the artists I like came from NJ during that early 90's period. Artists like the Artifacts for example. Can't forget about the Souls of Mischief either, one of the sickest hip hop groups ever.
Yeah, I gotta call you on that as well, I cannot stand Lady S. She represents most of the things I am against in Hip Hop. Madlib and LQ are pretty tight though.Madlib, Lord Quas, DJ-Rels, Littel Brother, Danger Mouse, Black Mlik, Lady Soverign, and some old cats like large professor, J-Dilla. Lupe and the Neptunes have a nice sound Kick, Push is my sons Fav. That just made me feel old.
I like your taste. Rakim is probably the GOAT. Pharcyde was great, so creative. I love all of Boot Camp, don't forget Heltah Skeltah. If I'm not mistaken Boot Camp Clik is comprised of Black Moon, SmifnWessun(Cocoa Brovaz), Heltah Skeltah, Starang Wonda. Duck Down is there clothing line and another name they use for themselves. I love hip hop from all around but the 90's New York hip hop has my heart.Yeah, I can't really stand much of the stuff that comes out today. I still pine for the sounds of the late 80's to mid-90's.
Rakim was supposed to do an album with Dre. That would have been sick.
The whole Hiero crew
Jedi Mind Tricks
Black Moon, Boot Camp, Smif & Wessun (Duck Down)
I actually have an appointment to get Aesop's None Shall Pass album cover tattooed on me Mani, should be fairly sick.I know this is an old thread, but since the Mullet man is back and I love Underground Hiphop....Lets bring it back...
Currently Listening to:
Living Legends - Almost Famous
Atmosphere - Lucy Ford
Sage Francis - Personal Journals
Aesop Rock - Labor Days
Mullet can you recommend any tracks from Reef, Ali, and Cage...?Just checking if we had any heads on AM. I know Ubi and Swole210 are about it, by underground hip hop I mean:
Reef the Lost Cauze
Most definitely. I'd rather listen to this than some mainstream Studio-G-Unit rapping about 'blunts, 40s, and *****es' with his hat around his eyes and pants around his ass. Because, funnily enough, I just can't relate to that.anticon > aesop rock > atmosphere
