Thor's Thunder: Electrake's Epic Training Tales

Limit time with the folks, train hard, dodge sucks. There's nothing about your come back I don't like

Ironically I've worked with my dad every day since I was like 16, I do love it but I'm a total introvert otherwise who's content to live mostly alone in the woods
The dodge is also beat the hell up! I absolutely never take pictures of rentals, definitely did a walk around this time.

I refer to myself as an extroverted introvert.

dude that's hilarious, I've been called that for years. everyone thinks I'm an extrovert (I'm not!)
My wife on the other hand, is the reverse. Total introverted extrovert. She loves parties and traditions and clubs but is a totally quiet wallflower lol

so essentially we have to socialize to fill her energy requirements and I end up doing all the socializing 😂😂

Never did get my Dicks

I'm sorry dude, maybe I should mail you one. here's a dick pic to tide you over

Got in yesterday 5/15/24 just to run through the motions after nearly two weeks off, super stiff from travels and still clearly malnourished. Ran some squats and OHP, moved slow and paid attention to form I'll probably get in today, but I have 4 friends coming over to help me move my heavy **** to storage and do some appearance type repairs to the house through the weekend. Monday is pictures, Wednesday it lists, so while it'll be weird to live here through all of that, it's almost over!

I'm back on all of my supps and feeling human again, almost back to east coast time in my head and nearly got a good night's rest.

Just got caught back up in here. Good stuff Sir, welcome back.

is your realtor staging the place? When I sold my loft in Tacoma they staged it for like $2500 or something like that ( I truly don't remember) but it sold so fast at top dollar and looked so damn good I regretted selling it, I should have just had them decorate it on day 1 lol

Nah, we had a lot of stuff and the ex wife already took 99% of what she wanted, the rest is just enough to make the main areas look cozy or enormous (10' ceilings). I wouldn't be surprised if the realtor came in and wanted to stage, but the goal right now is to just get it listed asap. Using the VA loan, my next place is contingent on it.

I feel that. I sold mine in like Feb 2022, closed in April. So I was feeling massive urgency to get it listed and sold ASAP as the rates at that point were just starting to go up.
Yeah they're ugly right now, the rates. But real estate here seems to be moving as fast as ever, so fingers crossed.

Note - Don't ever buy a big ass farmhouse with tall ceilings unless you're ready for the utility bill to heat and cool lol.

we have a 1938 uninsulated house that uses an old school wood fireplace with no fan and only cadet wall heaters to supplement. we keep the house at about 61f during the winter and can still see an electric bill of about $300-400, not including the 2 cords of wood we burn through lol. come at me bro. winter dick is a thing.

Hahaha, I'm right there with you, 1924 house here. The first winter here I was a broke-ass college student and the wife wasn't making much. We ran the propane furnace for a month and ended up with something like $450 in electric, and $250 in propane. That next month I got a Lowes credit card, a pellet stove, and a pallet of pellets lol. That thing kicks some serious ass, but still going through about 3-4 pallets a winter. I won't mention the space heaters, storing them before the showings so people don't know any better. I look for them in house postings.

pretty smart though! I keep trying to figure out if we can maybe do an insert on our fireplace. The hard part is a blower though. if you can get a little air movement then you can do a lot with those pellet stoves or a wood setup. the funny thing is my folks have this tiny wood burning stove in their house that can only hold like 1-2 logs at a time. huge vaulted ceilings, and that tiny stove gets the place so hot they have to open doors in the winter lol.

meanwhile I can throw 6 logs on and still have blankets out 😂

If you're on Reddit, there's a wood stove sub that nerds out over the things. I'm ashamed how much I know about wood stoves and firewood from doom scrolling and reading.

Yeah a regular fireplace is really not very efficient at heating. If the flue is open enough to not get smoke in the house all of the heat get's sucked right out the chimney, close it enough for all of the heat not to get sucked out immediately and the house slowly starts to fill with smoke. Pretty much useless until the burn box finally gets hot enough to radiate a little heat. I am going to end up buying some nice glass rocks or something to hold the heat more so it can radiate and just use the natural gas.

Yeah going from way out west back to east coast time can be a bit of a catch up. Hope it lists and goes quick!

Checking in
Had a big group of friends over this weekend and got the 2 main floors of my house squared away for pictures, that happened today. Basement is a bit of a mess, but have a few days before it lists to square that away.

Legitimately excited to get in to train tomorrow.

Getting there! Unfortunately, this house I've been drooling over for months went contingent, feels wrong throwing in an offer knowing someone else may have been doing the same. Then again, it is for something fairly important in life lol. Every other place I'm bookmarking is within a specific distance of a specific gym in this town I'm committed to joining 😂

Kept it at upper body today, felt great. Weak, but great. Tried a few new things, such as slamming my karbolyn on the way to the gym in my pre, as well as started the new carnitine TD. My energy was amazing, but again, I haven't lifted in 2+ weeks.

I was just considering my session today and state of mind, after reading through a few other people's responses to the carnitine TD, I had some amazing focus today and didn't even give a crap about what was playing through my headphones... Usually it's the opposite, tailor the lift to the music. Just some anecdote, I'll try again tomorrow.

@sns8778 Steve this is a weird one... have you ever heard of any of your products helping to regain hair color? At 34, my beard is quite white. However, the sides are regaining color, it's the damndest thing. Should log the change lol

I randomly heard this weekend 2mg of copper taken 2-3x/day (4-6mg total) can help reverse some greying after a few months. YMMV, but worth checking out.

Lol I'm not actively seeking it, I don't mind the distinguishing features lol. But the only thing different in my life is SNS products

Okay, so this is weird that you asked that because I've had the same thing happen to me. A year ago, my beard had a lot of white in it and now it has almost none. I hadn't said anything about it because I thought it may be a weird me thing, but it went from quite a bit of white to pretty much blonde again like it used to be.

My thought is Pepti-Plex because that's the thing I've been consistent with throughout and I started noticing within a couple months of adding it in; but I can't say for 100% sure.

That was honestly my guess as well, I've added in all of the products gradually, but all signs point to that. I even sent a picture to my ex wife and she said "wtf?!" Very interesting. The thicken plots

Adding in that I'm 1.5 months into pepti plex, for posterity reasons in case eventually google leads someone here

I'm curious to see if on your end it continues. On my end, it has continued and is very obvious.

Honestly I was about to shave off this 6 year beard, but now I'm an experiment to myself

I've got a pretty big beard and its been a dramatic change in the color for me too. I'd found it odd/interesting for a long while now. I'm curious to see if yours continues to progress too.

I'm going to keep the beard around to see how this progresses, I'm not sure if it's ramping up or just becoming more noticeable. Very interesting stuff though.

I am over here trying to get that full white beard, no pepti-plex for me I guess. ;)

coincidentally this popped up in my feed the other day:

back in 2019 when I owned a gym as a side business I would have been 37 or turning 37 that year and all the sudden I started seeing grey hairs pop up for the first time in my life. also first time i experienced hair shedding. Sold the gym and handed keys to new owner on the 1 yr anniversary and I $hit-you-not, my grey hairs disappeared, all of them. Only in the past 6-8 months now at turning 42 am I seeing them pop back up where they were 5 years ago.

nobody could believe it, they thought I was dying my hair lol

Now just need my place to move, or look into a bridge loan

what is real estate and the rental market like out there? I noticed my wife's company has a decent rental listed for like $1800 and that blew my mind cause it seems like everyone else is starting out around $2500 now for rents.

Man, this area I'm in, Banner Elk NC, is a bit of an anomaly. It's a huge tourist destination, the 2 closest cities are Boone (Where App State University is) and Johnson City, TN (Eastern TN State University). Houses are selling like nuts here, but it's all second/third homes for mostly Floridians. They rent them out as short term rentals, but all of this causes our taxes and property values to skyrocket while no one is actually living here year round. Most of the local industry is hospitality based, IE not a lot of people make good money, and so locals are being priced out causing a shortage in workers as well.

Rentals in the area are around the $1400 mark, but it's going to be a **** hole. On the other hand, I bought my house for $220k in 2020, and it's valued now around $440k. This is the time of year people come up here and get enamored with the area and want to buy, so I'm hoping this isn't a month long thing. However my house is 2850sqft with a 900sqft unfinished basement, so it's a lot of house... Maintaining it myself the last year has been a NIGHTMARE

and Californians... i know some that moved out there. Our town here in WA is literally about 50% Californian transplants. My wife calls them locusts lol. When we go to AZ I'm hesitant to tell locals I'm from WA and they always say "oh that's fine, you're not from Cali". 😂😂

I was looking at comps back home near Everett, the place I'm under contract for would be ~850k there

yup, see above. The worst of it started about 1-2 years after I moved to Pierce County so my commute went from 25 minutes to 90 minutes in a matter of a couple years. Tacoma was the fastest growing city in the nation I think for the 2 year prior to covid.

That's insane. I mean I get it, other than wanting to live amongst so many other humans. I can't imagine 10-15 years ago saying "Tacoma is going to be a desired place to live"

I don't think anyone saw that coming lol. in 2016 when I first moved to Tacoma you could pick up houses on hilltop for like $120k (3bdrm, 2+ bath etc). I told myself I was going to take a year to organize life then try to get some rentals. Those houses had doubled and tripled by 2017.

I mean... these houses are cool, but seriously in crime central lol

Lol I don’t think those would break 200k here, in the current market. In 2020 they would have been ~130. Unless they were adjacent to one of the campuses.

which is likely where they should be. Our house has a ridiculous valuation and it absolutely sucks. On the one hand a person can say "but all that equity", but my annual property tax bill is insanely high, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. especially with todays rates, everyones sorta trapped. it's like you realize that even if you retire and pay off your mortgage, for the rest of your life you will have a property tax bill that's still basically a mortgage. my wife's elderly retired relatives have a property tax bill of about $14k/year on a paid off house. that's literally almost double what my sick bachelor pad brick walled loft style condo mortgage was in tacoma in 2016.

Unless you happen want to move somewhere else very different with much lower prices, everyone is getting hosed.

anything within a drive of water is just highway robbery now. we did even look in mexico at a couple places but real estate is getting super expensive there as well in any of the developed areas that are reasonably close to an airport.

Guadalajara is actually much more affordable and beautiful, but 3-5hr drive from the water so my wife veto'd that lol

I've trained twice now in the last month 🥺

6/4/24

Main - Bench
  • 5 x 110lb
  • 5 x 140
  • 5 x 170
  • 5 x 180
  • 5 x 215
  • 5 x 245
Supplemental - Bench
  • 10 x 5 @ 185
Assistance
  • Kroc row 5 x 10 @ 100
  • DB fly 5 x 10 @ 30
Legs/Stuff
  • Super set cable crunch/oblique cable pushdown
Time 50min
Weight 206.2

This was hard, I've fallen out of the groove pretty hard form everything but gave my all today. The gym was 76F degrees, and the damn water fountain was at a trickle. Anyway, I made it through, but it was a struggle and I moved way too fast.

In other news, everything is settled with the house I'm trying to buy, last thing is I just need an offer on my place. The stress of showings, let alone getting the house ready, was wrecking me and my ability to get out to train. This week is a new chapter and I'm getting on with it! Unfortunately, I'm going to run out of my supplements mostly before next pay period thanks to making a quite large due diligence/earnest money payment. Yay adulting.

Glad you were able to get after it today! I can imagine the stress is pretty high trying to sell and move etc. etc. if you can get back in the groove of going and help get rid of the stress on the weights!
