Something tells me......the chance of having a "real" president again is long gone. People are less concerned about keeping America ......America, and more concerned about bending over and taking it from anyone as long as they get support. America is the melting pot...But if you throw everything in the kitchen into the pot, you get something that looks and tastes like diarrhea. AKA the future of America! With nothing to define itself, nothing to link it to its unique history.

People forgot how to think, how to have heart in something, how to hold onto heritage...

I have to say, that is a unique response Palin gave...

America is the melting pot...But if you throw everything in the kitchen into the pot, you get something that looks and tastes like diarrhea. AKA the future of America! Unique, yes...and completely historically ignorant/incorrect and no excuse for NOT knowing the facts about the pledge considering it is one of the polarizing issues in this country.

What do you expect from the new politicians? I mean they get worse with every election. One day we are going to have one that doesnt even know what the Declaration Of Independence is....actually...thats a sad thought.......and scary....

I just read #11, no real surprise there at all. Who would have thought that we should have any knowledge of American History to hold a high ranking government office.

Hell, and she could be a spolit second from the presidency. Damn, a 72 year old with a history of melanoma, most recently in February. Too scary for me

Way to miss the point, dude: the Pledge WAS modified - in the '50s (Eisenhower years) to *include* "under God"...whaich was added as an intentional dig at the godless commies.

dsade was asking if the bimbo-in-chief is really that clueless (correct me if I'm wrong about that, dsade).

Touching to hear you take such a compassionate view of the matter; I'll bet your defense of Clinton during the impeachment was equally moving.

And of course, you're right: where once we elected serious, capable, educated men who worked hard on serious issues, we've been reduced to electing an organ-grinder's monkey (with the organ-grinder as VP (guess that's why he's spent so much time in undisclosed locations...)).

If this trend continues, we'll bypass serious, educated, committed, hard-working candidates, and replace the C student with a low-D student (who has *never* held a job in the private sector), and the cocktail-waitress who's the object of his current desire.

Eventually, I'm sure, (if this downdraft continues) we'll elect a president who can't speak or write or think at all...but then again, he'll probably be the only one voting, too, so I guess that's a wash.

This country is in so much trouble it isn't funny. We will continue to get crap candidates until such time as the electorate changes, and that just isn't anywhere on the horizon. I prefer McCain/Palin over Obama/Douchebag only because I really dislike Socialism. While McCain doesn't give a crap about the sovereignty of our country, or our Constitution, he isn't as far left as Obama.

Now I just sit back and try to guess how long it will be before the first state tries to secede from the union, and how long after that the full force of the American military (or the threat thereof) is used to bring the state back in line.

What I also find interesting is how democrats market themselves as an arms open party willing to cross the line to help and bring people together, no matter what the affiliation; but then they start slinging insults.

Everyone needs to step back from all of the political discussions and see who and which party tosses out a majority of the outright insults, not policy or political criticism, but actual insults. So much for free love.

The founding fathers made many references to god throughout their initial papers. So perhaps that is what she meant :)
