Son was up through the night Wednesday night and I was home with him yesterday so no gym time yesterday. I was able to get up early and go this morning though! I kinda doubled the load. Son’s phone was stolen out of his backpack today at school. We got him one when we moved due to us working so far away and him being home after school. Kid was smart enough to turn off location services somehow so I couldn’t track the phone. I have suspended services, changed passwords, and everything else I can think to do. Insurance claim will cost more than the phone is worth but that’s looking like our only option. Just frustrating! Poor kid has struggled with making good friends at the new school. He is Mr. Outgoing too so it’s very surprising. Kids are just mean....so between all of that and some other stresses I’m really wanting a large margarita but I’m resisting so far! Lol

I hate to give this advice. But I raised my children to have the utmost respect for everyone. but sometimes the only thing that works is going old school. I didn't raise any whipping post..

I had multiple issues growing up. My step Dad was a trucker and we moved a lot. The new kid always gets picked on until he drops the bully or least knows he will get a fight. they like easy targets, If they get punched in the nose when they are not looking that usually takes care of it.

I always went through the Teacher or Principal first with my kids. if that didn't work. well lets just say my kids got a few extra days off from school but didn't have anymore issue with this said person or persons.
Plus the principle knows that there was an issue and it got resolved. not always how they would like but hey.
I always made sure I was the one that went to the school to pick up my kid so I could talk to the principle and explain what happened and that my kid wouldnt be punished by me for sticking up for themselves.

NOTE: I did have a little back lash once with my Son. He took out the bully a little too much and I got sued. Well I had to hire an attorney and that cost money. Wants we got to court it got thrown out and the bully got a good talking to from the Judge. It was kind of cool but I live in OK and don't know if that is how Judges think anymore or where you live.

Plus my wife is a momma bear and I had to try to control her. she loves everyone but when you mess with her kids it brings out the mean side in her.

I got picked on too, my step dad used to kick my ass a bit and told me I had better never get in a fight at school. So this one guy got mad at me because the girl he liked liked me instead of him. So for like 6 weeks he harassed me, hit me in the shoulder over and over and called me a puzzy. It was the 2nd to last day of school and my friend was at the house and told me "I can't believe you didn't kick his ass for hitting you and calling you a puzzy!"

My step father heard that and came in and gave me the confusing speech about how he didn't raise a puzzy, and I had better not let that boy touch me again or he was going to kick my ass... I told him I didn't fight back because he told me not too. He said he didn't care and if that boy messed with me at all the next day and i didn't handle it that was my ass when I got home. I was 12...

Fast forward to the next day, kid is picking on me during recess. Calls me names again and comes up and hits me. I didn't initially go off on him but my friend who was tired of this guy messing with me said "Chris your dad said you could kick his ass. Kick his ass!!!" That just got the kid going more and he hit me again. I told warned him don't do it again, he said you arent gonna do crap, then hit me again. I turned to walk away then said F it and spun around and cleaned his clock. Knocked him down and he got up and ran and I was in a full on rage and chased him and clubbed him to the ground again. A teacher came up and grabbed me to stop me and I picked them up and tossed them aside like they weren't an adult. Then proceded to toss the 3-4 class mates who tried to tackle me onto the ground, all the while chasing him top speed and knocking him on his ass over and over. People steadily trying to wrestle me off of him. Finally after I had knocked him down maybe 5 times half of the guys in my class jumped on me. I was screaming I am going to kill you mother f-er, and crying at the same time. Just lost it. So here I am finally tackled on the ground and I literally start dragging myself and the dog pile toward him, literally ripping my fingernails deep into the quick from clawing at the ground trying to get to him. There was a telephone poll there with some of the climbing posts in it and he actually climbed up as far as he could and refused to come down until they got me inside the school. Just sitting up there bleeding and his eye swelling shut. I remember that like it was yesterday. It was the first time I found out what true rage felt like.

I have no doubt even at 12 that I would have killed him if no one was there to stop it. The story of that ass whooping carried on into my Junior High years until I got picked on again by a failed the 7th grade 3 times 9th grade linemen and climbed him like a monkey, got him in a head lock and beat him unconscious at the bus terminal. I split his nose open, like the cartilage and skin was split... I was 13 and about 170lbs and he was 17 and easily 225-250, after that even the highschool guys left me alone...

So although that makes for a cool story it was a lot of scariness and I almost had to pay the linemens doctor bills. Well my parents almost did. The point of the story though is teach the boy to defend himself under control, so he doesn't get picked on and snap in an uncontrollable rage... Not that it will happen, but it can happen when people get pushed too far and don't have any experience controlling aggression.
 
Thanks guys for sharing your stories! I am definitely moving more towards the “stand up for yourself “ stage! I was picked on a lot as a kid for being fat! It wasn’t until 7th grade that I just started hitting the people whenever they said something (be it slapping them upside the back of their head or punching them in the stomach) they finally stopped! I even drug a kid off the bus and smacked him around a bit for tripping my little sister.

He was in them for about a year just got bored towards the end. We may try a new place since we moved. Not sure how well he’s equipped for “fighting back” currently.

Haha ikr! Funny thing was they actually felt better form wise than they have the first few weeks at the lighter weight!
 
I got picked on a lot for being small and poor in an upper middle class school. My dad told me to always fight back if someone else started the fight but to never start a fight myself. He said if I was standing up for myself and got in trouble with the school, he would stand up for me. Principal called him to school one day and made my dad miss work because of a fight. My dad told the principal that if he ever called my dad in there from work again because his son was sticking up for himself because the faculty wouldn't, then he was going to kick the principal's a$$. Got sent to the principal's office a lot after that but never once did they call my parents. Not even after I slammed a kid's head into the cinder block wall right in front of the principal or when several kids were chasing me at recess and I used the teter-toter the break a kid's nose and a couple teeth.

What is fighting dirty? We are in combat, anything I can use to cause you pain or disable you is open game.

I had a buddy say he fought dirty, he said "If I am losing a fight I will kick someone in the nuts! I fight dirty!"

I responded with "I don't have to be losing, I would bite your crap off just because it was close enough to do so and I want to hurt you as bad as possible..." That's what defending yourself is about. Disable the other person so they can not cause you harm... that is the goal them being disabled...

Good idea! Our school system out here doesn’t really allow the choice unfortunately. Only other option would be private school (which my paycheck wouldn’t even begin to cover lol) I have thought about seeing if I could fight the system to get him into one of the other schools around here. Sadly, 5th grade is a tough age and not even sure that would fix anything.
