Yes! Love my Iron Family!!! :-* Haha thanks Doug! :) Guess what guys...I get to go to Winter Jam--Skillet is going to perform along with 10 other Christian artists! So excited! I'll post pics later! We didn't think we were going to get to go due to soccer games and visiting the in-laws but it all worked out to where we could!

Haha, Tommy, everyone has tabatta in their area! Here is how you do it. Download Tabatta Timer from the Google or Apple Store, pick 1-8 exercises I really prefer only 1 or 2 myself. I will explain that in a minute. Anyway you you do 20 seconds of all out 100% MAX effort then rest 10 seconds, that is one Round. You need to complete 8 of these 30 second rounds non stop to complete the Tabatta session. You can do 1-2 sessions at the end of a workout, or first thing in the AM and get some good fat burning going on. They are also great to do through out the day if you want to continue to increase your metabolism through out the day.

Exercise selection -
It is my opinion you place the body in more stress working the same muscles into metabolic stress than doing a ton of different activities without completely exhausting any of them. Many people have bastardized tabatta by using 4-8 exercises in one session. This allows too much rest for the working muscles by using too many different muscle groups. It is the extreme metabolic stress placed on the working muscles with very little rest that increases the EPOC and the effort itself. If you do too many exercises during the tabatta session the muscles don't get as exhausted & you don't create that extreme need like you do when you are using the same muscles over and over each time.

That being the case I prefer to see Tabatta of 1-2 exercises. You have to choose movements that are safe enough that you can give reckless abandon to the effort you are putting in. One of the absolute best tabatta exercises is and has been the stationary bike. It is easy to crank to max resistance and go all out for 20 seconds then rest for 10 and repeat. You want to test your metal then give it a shot on the bike!!!! A spinning bike is even better! If not using a bike or stationary equipment then you should definitely be doing a full body movement like air squats, jump squats or burpees. I have done really well with combinations like Air Squats and Push Ups, but the key there is to flex the hell out of your legs and abs during the push ups. Talk about a beast of a workout. Although admittedly I have not done what I feel will be the hardest body weight version which is to do Burpees done with a full push up at the bottom for the only exercise for all 8 rounds that would be a beast. I just haven't felt like abusing myself that much yet.

Nah, the free Cliff Notes I just gave are all you need. You can also look for tabatta on Youtube they will have some there you can do with them using the timer and stuff.

I am no spring chicken either but I never try to push the envelope performance wise too much. Plus I do a lot of eccentric training. Still Kats numbers are still impressive no matter how you slice it.

Thank you! You should do Tabata! I think you would really like it! It's VERY INTENSE but afterwards you feel like you really accomplished something! I use a Tabata timer like Kleen was saying! The spinning bike is great and easy set up...now a whole set of burpees...umm yeah don't think I'd want to try that one! Hahahaha

That is true, I have been able to increase numbers on a lot of lifts but some of bpaks techniques make it hard to be progressive. Overall my body is more comprehensively strong though ... and the gains.. my my.
