Irish Cannon Gets Unnatural, Naturally - Part 2: CL's Blue Gene (sponsored)

Keep rippin it up dawgy!

I'm sick as hell.

Woke up with the flu or something. Haven't ate all day. Can't keep anything down. Horrible body aches. Headache. Stiff neck.

BLehhhh.

sucks man. Rest up dawgy

hahaha BUSTEED!

Man, not at all. I went to bed feeling fine on Saturday night, woke up in the middle of the night extremely sick. Getting a little better now but still nowhere near 100%. All I've had to eat since Saturday is one scoop of casein last night.

thats exactly how it started for me.

this chick was sittin next to me in class on wed..probably gave it to me.

wed. night i woke up sweating like crazy.

then it progressed. sore throat --> temp --> nasal congestion --> runny nose --> dry cough.

it's been over 2.5 weeks and i still have the runny nose. uggggh

I'm going to take an exam right now. My prof won't let me make it up. I haven't been able to study for it at all. I'm SOOO upset. This is the busiest week of the semester, and I'm stuck with the flu.

Damn! Sorry to hear bro! Good luck

Man, you've gotta eat, bro! As difficult as it may be, your body needs it right now. Hope you're feeling better soon. Show that flu who's boss!

I'm doing my best to get food down, but it's been difficult. It would be easier if I had someone to prepare it for me. Getting up to actually MAKE something is the hardest part.

I'm starting to feel a little better, but still not doing good by any means. My muscle aches have subsided a bit, and that was the worst part. My head is still pounding. Fortunately I've been able to keep down anything I've eaten today, which hasn't been much, but still better than nothing. Had a couple eggs and a little yogurt around 9am, and then had a casein shake at 12pm.

I know what you mean, bro. You don't even wanna stand there making food when you're feeling like that.

My protocol is always something like: Gut Health, antioxidants, multivitamin, Vitamin C, cough drops with zinc and echinacea, and lots of chicken noodle soup.

Get better, bro!

Alright guys. Here's the scoop.

Definitely feeling better as time goes on. I think after a full day of rest tomorrow, and hopefully a normal diet, I'll be ready to get things kicking again on Wednesday. I keep repeating, "Get that weak crap outta here!" to myself. :head:

Anyways, I'm real bummed about not getting in my HIIT sessions this week. I was really looking forward to those. I'll be saving the energy that I do have this week for my weightlifting sessions. I really don't want to back them up any further. I considered doing all three of my sessions on Wed/Thur/Fri, but since I'd be training the same muscle group on Wednesday and Friday, I don't think it's enough recovery time. So, I'm just going to pick back where I left off and do B1 on Wednesday and A2 on Friday. It was supposed to be B1/A2/B2 this week.

I'm just grateful that I won't have to suffer this virus any longer. A few years ago I cought the flu and was incapacitated for about two weeks. I had spent the whole semester working on my size and bulked from 170-198...by the time I recovered from the flu I was 165.

That is the best attitude against ANY kind of setback :hammer:

What doesn't kill you now...will eventually! only joking! I'm glad your immune system had good memory, it is most awful to go down to rock bottom after working so hard to get somewhere. Then again, it is called character building, if you want to be a winner you have to learn to pick yourself up fast, cause life never gives you a break.

Soldier on WARRIOR :clap2::clap2:

ps. at even a slightest sign of flu: megadosing echinacea, vit C and organic lean red meat helps (tested out ;)

DAMN!!! I wished the flu leaned me out like that!
Ha! No, no you don't. I think I was squatting 315x8 @ 198 before I got sick. My first day back in the gym after the flu I of course decided to train legs...I could barely get up 225! Thank goodness for muscle memory! Within a couple months of pushing myself I was right back up there.

I'll be sure to pick up some echinacea! Thanks for the tip.

whoa you guys are having a party in here and no one invited me?
subd for sure bud! hope you feel better.

Yup echinacia is great. Once you start feeling any cold or flu symptoms, take it immediately and it usually makes you feel much better

Is that like airborne? The pharmacies here sell this stuff called airborne that is supposed to prevent sickness from the first signs.

Airborne and echinacia are the shiz for getting better. Just take both if you have them at the very first sign that you feel bad and it will usually cure it if you catch it quickly:sick:

Irish just found this one thought youd like it Invalid Link Removed

I usually take Airborne, but as I mentioned, I went to sleep feeling fine, and woke up feeling like crap. Actually, I fell asleep on the couch listening to some new music I put on my MP3 player and then I woke up feeling really weird. I stumbled to bed all dizzy, woke up probably a couple hours later to throw up. It was prett bad.

Anyways, on to the good news...

I'm feeling much better today. I'm still extremely exhausted and have been sleeping most of the day, but I've been getting in my meals like I normally would. Had a little trouble eating all of my breakfast, but no big deal. I think by tomorrow I should be feeling pretty solid...at least enough to get back in the gym to train.

I'm supposed to be at class right now, but screw that.

Thanks for all of the support. It seems like all of us have had little stints in our logs preventing us from training at full potential.

Sadly, I feel your pain on this one :(

Sounds like your mp3 player slipped you a roofie. You gotta watch out man...they are sneaky!

Please, PLEASE no smilies with beer! I can't stomach it.

I'm very excited for my next workout update too! With the exception of my cardio, I'm only one day behind! Not too shabby. It looks like I neglected to do an update for my Friday workout. I apolagize for that. I got sick Saturday and totally forgot about it. I'll take a look at my numbers in my journal and do an update on last Friday's and tomorrows workout after it's completed.

I haven't mentioned previously, and I'm sure some of you know, but I was chosen to do a log for LG Science's T-911. That log will start immediately after the completion of this log.

How many more days on this log?

Cool beans

Going to hit the gym in a few minutes. Had a little trouble downing breakfast today. My taste buds aren't too into my morning food anymore, and neither is my stomach.

Hopefully I won't have any problems at the gym today. I haven't decided on doing my post-workout cardio yet. I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Still not feeling great, but definitely good enough to get a workout in.

Updates in a bit.

Day 21

Don't ask me how, but strength was up today.

I probably could have pushed even more weight, but I was really trying not to overdo it. Anytime I built a decent sweat up I started to feel a little queezy.

I added a few reps to my shoulder exercises. Added another 30lbs to my Alternating Leg Press. Added 10lbs to my seated row.

The Anabolic Flu, perhaps?

I skipped cardio. Really wasn't feeling it. Since I didn't eat a single thing on Sunday, I'm already down about 3k calories for the week. Cardio is probably unecessary. I think weight training + rest is more important.

just for you irish.

so i'm waiting tables, and an irishman is at my table. he orders a guinness. his friend orders a corona. the irishman looks over at me, and says, "do you know the difference between a guinness and a corona?" no, i said. he replied "a guinness, has taste, distinction, and full flavor. a corona is served with a lime."

kick that flu's butt irish, and keep it up!

Nice jumps in weight bro! Rest up holmsels!

glad to see youre back at it man. some people around me have been getting sick. i fear its only a matter of time

will you be sticking to the same type of diet and goals for the T-911 log?

will you be sticking to the same type of diet and goals for the T-911 log?

As far as goals, yes. If some of you aren't clear what my goals are at this time, they are to...

1. Drop fat
2. Add LBM
3. Add strength to compound lifts

I've proven to myself over the last year that doing both at the same time CAN be done. A high calorie surplus is not necessary for LBM gains. I no longer belong to that school of thought.

As far as diet, I have just revised some things. I've removed about 50g of carbohydrates from my first meal. I've taken out the Ezekiel cereal and yogurt and am now having a 1/4 cup of steel cut oats in its place. Unfortunately removing those carbs also takes away some protein. I'll probably just add in an extra egg white or two.

I've considered skipping a conventional breakfast and doing the shake/oats/supplements thing and heading right to the gym. I may switch to that after the weekend. I'm going to give it some more thought. If I do that, I'd have my post workout shake/oats and then have whole meals throughout the rest of the day. On school days, that could make things a little more difficult; however, I only have two regular school days, and only one of those would be affected. So I guess it wouldn't be a big deal.

I'm about to pop my Blue Gene right now and do some cleaning, and then get some school work done. No cardio for me today. I'll pick HIIT back up on Sunday. I think the rest is more important.

Rest up holmes. We'll be here

Here's my new pics. I know nothing really changed here, but I'm just glad I haven't really lost much.

Weight was 165.5lbs this morning, btw. That's down 7lbs from the beginning of the log. Remember I AM CUTTING! - Weight loss is a good thing as long as strength is still rising. :)

You look leaner man! Plus to getting sick
