Man I love it when you wake up on a Friday with a lot of energy….just makes that Friday workout going into the weekend so much better. I’m like you, by Friday morning I’m usually a little more drained and need an extra cup of coffee to get things kick started.

Sounds like an awesome day to me. Curious if you still feel the MOTS-C as much tomorrow after calories go back down today.

So Friday I had eaten 2900-3000 the day prior, so I can’t say if the MOTS-C made a difference in my training. BUT I only ate 1,500 calories tops yesterday, Friday, and had remarkably good energy all day. I mean I even drank significantly less caffeine, and in general hunger was lower.

That all sounds like more a product of getting fed the day prior, but we’ll see how testing continues to go. No side effects so far certainly.

Today (Saturday) is my high carb day and so far I do feel better than usual, energy-wise.

Dang. Its been a long time since I popped back in, you look huge bro 💪 Good lord

How much do you weigh now?

219lbs yesterday after 5 days keto, and 227 on Monday after my weekend carb up.

I competed about 5 weeks ago down as a 220. Weighed in at 217lbs and got up to 235 on the platform. I totaled 1,560lbs raw.

Solid bro. Traps and shoulders are crazy.

Strong.

I think the last time I was in you were around 250 or so? That's a big drop, what made you want to go down to the 220s?

Thanks man. I competed at 242 weighing about 255 March 1st. I did 5lb lifetime PRs on squat (650) and pull (635) in training leading up to it, but pulled my quad as soon as I came out of the hole on my third squat of 672 (628 was a joke & it was the right call, sometimes things just strain). So I had to pull my bench down a little and couldn’t bend my leg much to deadlift, but still managed to stiffleg 606 to break 1600 and make a juicy 242 total PR.

So since I couldn’t train squat while I healed, just made sense to lean out some with summer coming. Then decided since I hadn’t been down to 220 in over 3 years, it was time to collect some PRs and get in better shape. Put 115lbs on my best total there & didn’t best DOTS coefficient ever.

And now trying to lean a bit more so I can make the cut to 198. I have only done one meet that light, 13 years ago. Getting down there would be a big accomplishment, net PRs on everything, and again hopefully make the most competitive total yet. Then probably start putting some weight back - mass moves mass, after all.

Physically pretty well-prepared for this session, but I was upset from arguing with the wife prior, which always kills my will to lift. It was very difficult to get going mentally and keep the focus necessary to bring my full force to bear. Thankfully someone came into the gym, and that distraction made it easier to get into the groove - 523 was easiest squat of the day. It wasn’t fast, but I am very pleased that I squatted it perfectly. First time in the 5s since the meet 6 weeks ago, so it was time. Then I trudged through 20 reps of backdown work & called it a day.

Just felt like it was worth giving some honest context, because our training never gets to exist in a vacuum - it has to operate around real life. Some times, you just don’t want to do it.

So I squat hard as I could muster, then left.

You still using apigen at night ? You were a pretty big fan of it right ?

You still using apigen at night ? You were a pretty big fan of it right ?

Yes, it’s great! There’s so much health/longevity positive to it. And Steve’s now made a great dose in a single cap at a very affordable cost/day as a staple.

Beyond that, I do feel it is calming. I was finding it tough to get to bed last prep with the Tren E, even at the very low dose (25-50mg). As soon as I started Apigenin I was consistently getting to bed earlier. It doesn’t make you sleepy, just calms that sympathetic drive (I believe this is why it works so well in his stress/mood formula at lower dose). I slept MUCH better with it. And still take it every night.

Nice. I just picked some up. I’m pretty sensitive to many compounds when it comes to screwing up my sleep.

I mean I bought it for longterm wellness support, but I always take it at night and there are people who have complained trying to use it during the day because it makes them tired. It doesn’t make me sleepy, just helps relax mentally some.

I have been eyeing it for a while and dps is running and extra 10% off. After I bought it earlier today I remember seeing you talking about it. I got it for general sleep support , not necessarily gear sleep support but I’m happy to hear that it helped some in that department

Hopefully you and your wife have already worked it out, but I get it how that can affect your gym session. Glad to see you were able to work through it and get some great squats in. And good to see 523 was smooth with no issues.👍

Agreed, some people have better sessions when they are angry, and sometimes that works if the person I am agnry at is not someone I care deeply about. However, it has a much more dishearteneing affect when you care for that person and the relationship. Fixing the relationship becomes the focus not reps and perfect form.

Well said!

Things are better now.

I am definitely holding more water this last week since going up to 25 test/day and 3iu GH. Lowest weight I saw was 219 several days. I can also tell either estrogen or IGF1 is borderline too high due to gland sensitivity. Taking a dose of Exem will fix either (because lowering estrogen also lowers GH to IGF1 conversion). Fortunately the lipolysis from GH is a direct effect not dependent on IGF1, so since I’m using it for fat loss & recovery (but not growing right now) I don’t want to lower the dose. So I will probably just take AI if necessary.

I have bloods scheduled to check lipids in 3 weeks, so I don’t want to add any Masteron until after that at least.

I remember an old theory of sports performance being higher if you abstain, but my experience has been the exact opposite, my wife is definitely a cornerstone in the foundation of my life, if she and I aren't on good terms then everything in my life unfortunately struggles. If we wake up and go to pound town on a sunday morning then my experience has been that a sunday gym sessions is far better than if I'm on a dry spell or abstain intentionally! Its like when things are good with her, then nothing else matters when I'm at the gym and I can fully enjoy the work. its crazy how a tiff with the wife can be such a crazy thing to overcome!

That’s definitely been totally disproven at this point. Used to hear that a lot in high school as well.

I remember my first meet, 2 buddies I lifted with (also doing it as their first meet) had been high school wrestlers. At breakfast before the comp, one was complaining how hard it had been in the hotel not to touch his girl. The other looked shocked saying he had been up smashing his lady all night lol. And both training partners went on to set Junior state records that day.

It just doesn’t matter!

It just doesn’t matter!

Thats probably the reality of it. I would be that it might depend on the man and the state of his libido. if he's high libido type then maybe smashing all night would be better so he's not in a state of angst when trying to perform, and the lower libido man may have zero impact one way or the other?

I think about this clip all the time!!

Had today off work, so took advantage of my son being at school to get some much-needed upper back work in. Wish I could do more accessory sessions like this, instead of trying to tack things onto the ends of barbell training when already tired - definitely can push harder when fresh like this!

Weight from the weekend is coming off well, so that’s a good sign.

Now that’s some bench work!

When 320 went up very well, it was a relief. Then I realized I had 9 work sets ahead, and from there it was just a slog through the pounding. I mean I chose it & was satisfied when completed, but I was blasted.
Yeah, that is a lot of work over 250 there, no doubt it was some serious work!

What is the golden number that you always feel extremely confident you have even on a bad day? I figure knowing what you put up and attempted at that last meet 320 would not be intimidating for you at all. Like I "know" i have 300 most days but I'd probably say 285 is that number I'd throw on a bad day in a garage having beers with the bros.

Just depends on where everything is at. 320 is the most I’ve taken in the 6 weeks since the meet, and I slept on my shoulder funny last night so pec felt iffy going into it on that side. I knew I needed to really hold my shoulder position on that side.

At the meet, I was ~235lbs loaded up when attempting 375. This morning I was probably 221-223 keto in training. And there’s no blast, so if I was getting 8-10% out of my drugs at comp, you need to factor that in too. I felt like I could definitely have done 340 after, but I think 350 today would have been a stretch.

I have been benching 300 twice a week as an over-warmup recently. I am sure I could do 315 any time, whether I trained that day or prior or whatever. I have been running 330 as my general training max for the moment (today’s numbers based on 335).

living the dream. I can't wait to see 3 wheels on a clean raw effort 🤘
IDK what it is about 3 wheels, just looks monsterous. first time we did it with the slinger my buddy started stacking rando plates to keep adding 5s and 10s and I was like no you do that **** right, 3 plates a side or no dice.

Haha, I remember this feeling, the first opportunity you have to put 315 on the bar at has to be 3 wheels per side and at least for a little while after. I think the only time I didn't was if doing some sort of drop set that would be easier with a 25 and 2 10's. Now I would just like to see 225 again someday. Once I hit that we can discuss anything more.

The only time I’ve ever benched 405, I damn sure put 4 plates on that bar!!! No doubt, it’s just what you do when you break the plate thresholds the first time.

RIP Rocket; thank you for believing in & galvanizing me to make that happen!

My Ezetimibe landed yesterday, so I began that last night. Took 10mg to get it frontloaded, but will be 5mg nightly with my 5mg Rosuvastatin going forward.

Double-checked the 2008 trial data to see if there was any significant difference, even a few percent, between 5 and 10mg - there is not at all. I couldn’t remember. But a 25.6% LDL reduction was achieved on 5mg, and 26.1% on 10mg - with a greater percentage of 5mg users actually hitting their target <100 LDL target 😆 It’s even flatter than Rosuvastatin, where exponential drug exposure increases do mildly improve reductions (but 1mg nightly still yields the lion’s share of results, without the same metabolic impact). 5mg Rosuvastatin (the floor clinical dose) has been no perceivable issue for me since I bumped up to that after vacation.

So my pharmaceutical lipid interventions at the moment are 5mg each of Ezetimibe, Rosuvastin, and Cardarine daily. Diet is entirely fish, chicken breast, egg whites, and whey for protein (fat free Greek yogurt on weekends), with olive oil, natural peanut butter, raw almonds or pecans, salmon or trout or sardines for fats. 5g Flaxseed oil, 3g Borage Oil for GLA, and minimum 2g EPA / 1g DHA supplemented. Lettuce & spinach salad nightly, plus maybe some riced cauliflower or asparagus in the day. 6g fiber 2x/day from Benefiber. With nuts, veg & often a quest bar, this is usually 25-40g fiber daily.

Cardio has been trivial; usually 25 min on the bike once per week and a 25-30 min walk Saturday mornings with my kids before breakfast. Then maybe 3-8 minutes before training sessions, so 75 min weekly tops. Wife & I tend to take turns mowing the lawn, which only takes me around 45-50 minutes at this size (I just move faster now).

I missed this post yesterday, probably because I left at lunch to take my wife to the Doctor, but that was a great bench session…you pressed a lot of tonnage in all those sets.😎👍

Once you get your lipids where you want them how long do you want to hang out in a good range before starting to climb back up? IE pushing food and gear up.

Food is only going down for now. I seem to be maintaining ~220, so I will need more gear, less weekly cals and possibly cardio to get to 210. But that’s what making 198 is going to take.

Gear will be immediately after hopefully, in light of the above. I really can’t afford to progress the diet without more protection in place, if the goal is to keep all my strength or improve.

Nice, that makes complete sense to me. I was just trying to guage about how far out you might choose to compete again.

I think if lipids are acceptable, as early as January is possible for the right meet, otherwise February is ideal. March often has many meets, but my wife wants to do the Arnold Pro-Am Strongman Championships so I’d prefer to be done before we go to Columbus that first weekend of March. Then I don’t have to fit training in so critically or worry as much about getting sick. Or even just the toll all travel/trips take.
