Mark Felix is an oddity, he does one handed dead lifts. It's an ancient practice done by old schoolers. I'm not sure as to it's efficacy, but its interesting to watch for sure.
Kevin, at 21 could DL 900lbs, some "kid," but you're not effin with Mariusz in strongman.

NICE LIFT!!!!145x6 this morning! I finally tried ASGT and I liked it.
Holy Crap Bro, notgonna doubt you are 295 I have a feeling my buddy can do something around there too, he is 318 and reps 565 for 6 on bench now with pauses on the chest friggin animal.I am super late finding this thread. Luckily I was reading a different one and Volcom mentioned it there. So to throw in my 2 cents.
My gym has big dumb bells. 150,170, and 180's. Not too long ago we would mess with those blowing up the tri's with the over head extensions. The only thing that was brutal was actually getting the bell into starting position onto my shoulder. But I could grind out between 10-15 reps with that 180 consistently. That is going down with my hands right behind my neck and all the way up smacking myself in the back of the head with the opposite end of that big bell. I suppose BS could be called by haters but what is the upside of BSing around here?
I have always had strong pressing movements. We have done dips and over head DB's as a staples since I began to train. I have rotated the DB's out for a long cable machine at my gym which blows out the entire tri. Our gym owner made the machine himself and its brutal. But dips have remained a constant and I usually just change where I put my feet, either out front with the chin tucked in or behind. Both versions smoking the tri's before the other isolation exercises begin.
But I digress. Sweet thread Kleen. and congrats on the LG position.
I don't know but that is pretty awesome.Mark Felix is a Deadlift oddity. He owns that event in all the Strongman contests that I have watched.
Did he tear his biceps doing this one-armed version Volcom, or do you know?

Thanks. Some good stuff in here.Welcome broski! Always room for one more!!!!
I don't know, I hope not. He seems like a nice guy. One of the few "stars" who respond to his YouTube posts, lol.
I say dead lifts, even though I can't play with my lumbar issues. Andy Bolton's crew do dead lift contests at their little gym, but they don't pull for max weight. They pick a standard (for them it was 495 I think) and just see who can pull it the most times. Maybe a 225 standard would be reasonable for AM?
Andy's best with 495 is 30 reps I think. You can YOUTUBE it, but I forgot how. I was originally following someone else's videos and I noticed Andy Bolton was in this one, and that was the contest, but I forgot who's name I was using.
Andy DL's 1,000+lbs for the record, in case you didn't know who Andy Bolton was.
I couldn't find Bolton's 495 for 30 reps. But I found Poundstone doing 800 for 9 reps!!!
I'm not sure if I've EVER seen anyone pull that much weight for that many reps. Remember, Ronnie Coleman only got 2 reps with this poundage!!

I would be out of that comp, haha I don't have a strong enough deadlift for that at my weight. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't try. I think we could just keep this rolling every m2 months with a new exercise to improve on. I am down for whatever. Maybe we should make a poll....
I didn't explain myself enough in that last post. He did indeed tear his biceps in 2009. I was merely asking if he did it doing regular deads or this strange one-arm version? Now I know he tore it lifting the Atlas Stones. You have to hug those suckahs tightly to get them up onto the barrels/platform.
He's already on the mend though. You can't keep a warrior like that down.
Lots of strongmen/powerlifters do tear biceps during deadlifts. Kevin Nee tore his a couple of years back. It's always the hand with the supinated (curl) grip that does it too. Puts lots of strain on the biceps. I admire the strongmen smart enough to wrap both hands over the bar with the pronated (palms down) grip. They're allowed to wear wrist straps so it makes no sense to go with the alternated grip.onder:
Something each month would be really cool, keeps everyone trying new exercises and pursuing new goals. Deadlifts based on bodyweight would be fun just don't tell GHGH (Andres) about this, he will do it 30 times for his warm up.
I have a deadlift deload day in about 2 weeks so i may try it then. 30 would be a nice number, i think the cardio required would get me before the loss of strength or grip would.
How often do you deload?
I turned the big two zero today O_O I feel like an old manNeed to find a place to put my walker before deadlifts now.
My vote is for the one-arm DB rows, but I also like the bodyweight deads. I should be able to pump out quite a few at my bodyweight. I also like that it's not one you can really cheat at(other than the injury-prone form(s)).
And, on a side-note...ASGT is the nastiest pre-WO I've had in awhile O_O But it works, so I'll give them thatAnyone found a good juice to mix it with or anything? All I had in the house was cranberry juice and it doesn't taste too hot.
I mix mine in orange juice. Glad to see someone else not liking the taste of it. The way people responded when I said it was nasty, you'd have thought I was crazy.
Two scoops in a small amount of water is not the most pleasant; then again, after trying V1 of AS, it is a vast improvement. In terms of some of the pwo drinks I have tasted, it is better than most but we all have different tastes. Maybe we will get a different flavor in the future that will suit your pallet (and others) more.

I honestly dont mind the taste of ASGT. I mix 1.5 scoops in a 16.9 oz water bottle. Takes about 4-5 goods gulps to get it down which i spread out over the drive to the gym.
deads today...225*34...let's do this
I almost wanted to set a goal of 500 on deadlift but I then thought what's the point besides a possible injury.
I warmed up with 185 for 10 then jumped right into 225. I almost passed out, was gagging...it was awesome. the dizzy feeling almost was like a high.
WTF :bling1:
Beast mode on the reps there, Big. I'll DL 500lbs again before hitting that many reps with 225.
Someone needed to give Dorian's Scottish workout partner a hug in those old videos, for real.
