  1. Can Anyone Definitively Prove Protein Needs for Active People?

Hi Everyone, I see some people read a lot, and give opinions. Is there any single guide that tells us our protein needs. I see many mixed messages: 1. Traditional bodybuilding meatheads always speak of more protein. In fact, even educated people like Will Brink speak about eating up to 2...
  2. Where Can I Exhaustively Research "Single Leg (Unweighted) Deadlift" aka "Single Leg Hip Hinge"?

Hi Everyone, In my getting back into fitness, I have focused solely on the Single Leg Deadlift (with only bodyweight). It is also known as the Single Leg Hip Hinge. Invalid Link Removed Invalid Link Removed 1. Is there a single expert or single source of the best info? 2. I ask because...
  3. When Do Hunger Pains and Weakness Go Away on 16/8 Intermittent Fasting?

Sorry, when I post a new thread, it posts multiple times. Sorry for over-thinking. I am just trying hard to find something that works. 16/8 fasting was too hard for me.
  4. When Do Hunger Pains and Weakness Go Away on 16/8 Intermittent Fasting?

Thanks. I gave it one full week. I was so miserable and had reports to do. I started eating typically again. I guess just no structured diet works well for me. Just try to eliminate calories by watching food choices, using leaner meats, more steamed vegetables, etc.
  5. When Do Hunger Pains and Weakness Go Away on 16/8 Intermittent Fasting?

Okay. I can give it at least a full week. Tonight, after my feeding ended at 6pm, I felt less irritable. But, every word I read makes me think of food. Mentally, I am less cogent.
  6. 16/8 Plan from LeanGains; Any Opinion?

Thank you very much. I agree with your analysis. It's been hard for me to find out something that works. Others have an "easy time" with keto, etc. Even my high school trainer, 20 years ago, looked at me with pity and said I was a "hard case" "hard (fat) loser". Then again, his teachings...
  7. Can Visualizations Help Training?

Hi Everyone, 1. I was doing KB swings, listening to music. I did some visualization of me in the physique I want, pumping through reps. I hit a personal best. 2. In the past, I tried this with Barbell Weights and did not notice any progress. 3. Is there any science of weight-lifting...
  8. (One-Handed) KB Swings: The Magic Bullet We All Have Been Looking For?

To me, I just need a fitness comeback. I want to do something significant, but small and achieveable. I think 100 kb swings a day will be good, while stuck outside a gym. It can make me ready for the weight room again.
  9. (One-Handed) KB Swings: The Magic Bullet We All Have Been Looking For?

Hi Everyone, Could (one-handed) KB swings be the minimalist thing we could do to be in shape? I am hoping for a critique below, with research articles if possible. 1. Here are what principles I can find about KB Swings: Dan John's research suggests 24-kilogram bells for men, 16-kilogram...
  10. Can Barbell Squats Ever Truly Be Replaced?

    1. I am reading more about Dan John's "10,000 KB Swings" and others who have done variants. Invalid Link Removed Invalid Link Removed 2. It looks like I can conclude the following: Dan John shows that 24 kg for men is an ideal weight. Such a weight is a mix between resistance training and...
  11. Does Anyone Get a Protein "Bloat" After More than ~40 grams?

Hi Everyone, I always had a problem with bodybuilder diets. Many people eat more than 40 or 50 grams of protein in one sitting. Even though the hunger is blunted, there is still a physical craving for more food. I often eat some carbohydrates later. What is this topic called? Invalid Link...

  15. Is there an ultimate workout that trumps all other workouts?

Hi Everyone, Is there a perfect weight room workout for general health, strength, muscle mass, etc.? I know, even the best workout would need to be modified as adaptations occur. Yet, what would be the best place to start? Personally, I like this: Invalid Link Removed Any opinions or...
  16. Can Barbell Squats Ever Truly Be Replaced?

Hi Everyone, In my own personal anecdote, there simply is no substitute for barbell squats. Overweight people need the metabolic activity that squats create. Underweight people need the shock to the muscle system. Everyone needs the basic strength. I know many machines have failed, but none...
  17. Best Personal Trainers and Guru's?

Thanks for the info. I am trying to "start from scratch" and re-teach myself. I like Bill Philips goal setting, even though many of his comments about diet and exercise are not science based. "Eat vegetables and nature will make more" "Doing fasted cardio burns three times as much fat as a...
  18. Can a Kettlebell Ever Be Too Heavy?

    1. Thanks. I had borrowed the 12 kg's from a satellite gym, at my school in China. 2. The 20-kilogram, I bought myself and just tried today. 3. When I get my next paycheck, I may splurge on up to a 50kg, depending on if I can find a good manufacturer. 4. I definitely feel the difference...
