Does Anyone Get a Protein "Bloat" After More than ~40 grams?

Hi Everyone,

I always had a problem with bodybuilder diets.

Many people eat more than 40 or 50 grams of protein in one sitting.

Even though the hunger is blunted, there is still a physical craving for more food. I often eat some carbohydrates later.

What is this topic called?


How come almost all bodybuilding diets require lots of protein, and others tolerate it well.

Are you talking about all Protein (ie meat) or just Protein Powders ?

Ghost Protein powders have a probiotic in them, I get no bloat at all out of them.

I have consumed 100gm in a meal many times because I missed a meal and lumped 2 together. Solid food and shakes, no problems here. You might have some gut health issues. Probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes ect can help with that. But just know when starting probiotics and prebiotics there's usually a period of a week or two where things feel worse. I've also heard ox bile is good for stuff like that. L glutamine is also good for gut health

I find it’s the source for protein that matters more than the grams for me. I can easily eat more than 40 grams of protein worth of chicken without issue, but fattier stuff like ground beef can give bloating issues occasionally. Some people do seem to have issues with large amounts of protein at once and gas though, so it’s not an uncommon occurrence.

Gas is definitely normal from large amounts of protein, even tho I don't get bloated feeling or stomach achs I definitely get gas.... Eggs and protein powder seem to do it far worse then steak and chicken for me

I personally use all of these in my daily diet and it works wonders.

For a while I was buying these little single serving keifer bottles, 8 oz bottle had 12 gm protein was delicious and only cost $1.09

I would add them to protein shakes or drink with my eggs in the morning. But ya, good for the gut.

I also eat pineapple and watermelon with .y lunch every day, when there in season. I guess I never thought about it but I'm indirectly doing things that help 🤷
