Slicin' and Dicin'

Cycle 6
Week 3

Squats
5 x 95, 140, 180
3 x 215

5 x 265
3 x 300
3 x 335 (PR)
1 x 355 (shallow)

BBB
5 x 10 x 180

Notes
Another reps PR, not sure how I feel about it, I think I'd be more excited if it was 5+ but hey, my warm up weight today at the end of cycle 6 is higher than my working weight on cycle 1.

I had 355 but pussed out and started to climb out of the hole early. I was 1-2" too high but otherwise ok. Opted not to chase 370+ which would be a 1RM PR but I'm close.

(Cycle 1 example below)

Weight 206

Killing it man!

Then the 180 for 50 reps afterwards 😅

Heck yeah, you’ve been crushing it man.

I was thinking about this earlier, wondering what it will be for cycle 7 lol.

Keeping that PR train rolling…awesome.💪😎👍

appreciate it guys. this morning I was wondering if I should change up my routine a bit. currently doing:

mon bench
tues squat
weds rest
thurs ohp
fri pulls.
sat/sun rest (farm work lol)

I've never considered bench or OHP a difficult recovery movement, but I walked into tuesday feeling more fatigued than usual, and weds morning I definitely feel the DOMs already from squats. weds rest is great, but I almost wonder if I should change my sessions to every other day rather than 2 on, 1 off, 2 on, 2 off.

Everything seems to be moving up!!

I think I'm getting better at moving weights that are truly on the upper end of my capacity cause these last few sessions have been hitting me like a sack of rocks! last night I could feel DOMs in my hamstrings and glutes within like 3hrs of my squat session, and today (weds) my chest is tight/sore from Mondays chest work. I haven't felt such consistent DOMs like this since my old xfit days doing 2hr sessions 6 days a week, lol.

Congrats on another well earned PR!

Man, I don’t know why I haven’t seen your updates (I’ve been looking for them!), but congrats on the bench and squat improvements!!! Really solid rep PRs achieved.

Why is your bench supposed to climb 10lbs each cycle? It’s specifically supposed to be FIVE (5). Wendler is very clear about this; I think your app is doing things wrong. It’s going to run you off the runway shortly if you follow that. Keep milking it!

let me check, hadn't even thought about it.

<checking>
yeah you're right the app has me going up 10lbs per cycle lol. I hadn't really thought about it cause here we are 6 months in and I'm only just at old 1RM's really so it hasn't by a long shot over extended me. Did some digging in on settings and found it. Bench, Pulls, Squats were set at 10lbs. OHP at 5lbs. I was able to manually correct it though so here's what the future looks like. Just finished Cycle 6 at 300lbs

Cycle 7 to 305
Cycle 8 to 310
Cycle 9 to 315 <- that would be about New Years Even, Starting Cycle 10 around 1/1/27.

Congrats on another well earned PR!
OMG my glutes are sore today lol thanks dude

appreciate it! I need to make an adjustment here somewhere to incorporate meaningful pause work I think. @gphagan1 's spottos are getting me thinking. I hit that 300 x 2, but I want these to be much better quality reps and I think lower position / pause work could be a good contributor.

all of this means that in cycle 7 I'm running for top sets

5 x 240
3 x 270
1+ x 305

whereas cycle 6 was:

5 x 270 (got 5)
3 x 285 (got 4)
1+ x 300

so thats kinda weird. those are massive adjustments for a 5lb difference in weekly jumps. the AMRAPs should look better on paper though I'd think.

Yes, do not think of this as a reduction - it’s just ensuring you can keep momentum rolling strong on this train!

Yes, not a reduction, instead, a plateau delayer.

thats what I need. been hitting my numbers but have been very aware of how much harder they're getting! wanna keep this gravy train going.

speaking of gravy. woke up about 204 today. it seems like 204 is my normal weight, 206 is my 'salted' weight these days. its held there for weeks. generally nutrition has been cleaned up but tonight is a BBQ date with my boy after school. so we'll see how that goes ;)

Power snatch
5 x bar, 65, 95, 115

5 x 75, 95

DB laterals
1 x 20 x 25s

Notes
Called a scheduling audible and threw down pulls with press again. This wraps up week 3 of cycle 6. I will see how next week goes. Might spend a week of 1RM testing before my deload. I was pretty exhausted today though, I think OHP should have gone higher but all in all I hit 3 on my 1 day and threw 200 overhead again.

Do some back off BBB work next workout before deloading, unless you are going to test. If you decide to go for testing, skip it (this helps shed fatigue to peak somewhat). But if you are going to deload and just get back on the next wave, do a day where you just get your 50 reps of press and RDL or something in first. The base matters.

It's funny you say that cause I was craving some hypertrophy work this morning/last night and realized I'll basically be back into it when I reincorporate my BBB work.

Today's lack of lifting was cause I took a PTO day to do more yard clean up / garden prep. I dropped another tree and have been building this pile for when we get a wood chipper rented. The pics don't do it justice. This pile is about 6-7ft tall and 20ft+ long. I'll probably have four or more like this once all the tree mess is cleaned up.

Taking a break now to pound some electrolytes.

Man just love the pictures of the trees and how nice it looks! Lots of work no doubt!

It is a lot of work but I was telling my wife tonight we are lucky to be doing it. A lot of it is one step in front of the other, a lot like your house. Having that vision long term but just inching towards the finish line one weekend (and paycheck) at a time, lol.

Tonight my wife went down the road to a local shellfish place and hooked us up, we haven't done grilled oysters in a long time! So here's some food pr0n

Clams, raw oysters, grilled oysters, and her sourdough for the clam broth (plus of course veggies)

That’s definitely a lot of work, but it’s going to look good when you’re finished.😎👍
