Hyde’s Strength Odyssey

Getting more and more excited for you! There is just something about competing!!!

It really does build some hype, the immediacy/urgency it places on all of your training sessions. You really pay more attention to the details when you realize you can count the remaining chances to practice a lift on both hands.

Also, forgot to mention I broke out the Dbol this morning for the first time in over a year probably - not adding it in, just popped 12.5mg preWO since I’m already taking the lipid hit from the RAD/S23. Man, it just always puts me in a better mood! Always have great training on a low dose of Dbol.

Looks like you are on track to crush it. Considering everything you had to go through to get ready lifts are looking solid.

Your last few workouts looked great….looks like your right where you want to be…..
Getting ready to bring on the new lean mean killing machine version of Hyde, and crush the competition.💪🏆
Your wife is a strong woman….really cool, you guys are a family of strength and power, literally.

My son got a 12lb sandbag for his birthday from our friend, and for the first time Wednesday night he picked it up, carried it to the couch, and loaded it just like his momma!

Worked up to my opener last night with full commands, then did a few easy accessories. 35 min fasted cardio earlier that morning, with 2iu HGH added back in for 5 days to help recovery. Then it will drop out to shed the extra water at the end.

So 315 on bench for an opener, what are your plans for the squat and DL?

Love the your boy is carrying and loading weight. It's funny, but I am sure he has perfect form. Seems kids almost always do by just doing what is natural to them.

473 squat and 501 on deadlift.

I was going to do 496 on deadlift, but with that Kabuki bar now I want to start in a position to go bigger if things feel better than expected again.

One of those moments are a parent, that just makes you so happy !!!

473 squat and 501 on deadlift.

crazy how close together they are.
if my squat and my deadlift were that close together proportionately I'd be squatting 39lbs over my current goal lol

well either that or my wife would be deadlifting more than me lol

Squatting is more of a skilled lift than deadlifting. Everyone has heard of someone who was able to deadlift ~400 the very first time they ever tried it, but you don’t really hear about anyone squatting that their very first time under a bar.

So while my absolute lower body strength isn’t so great currently, I still have over a decade of training heavy (for me) squats under my belt.

Fasted 23 hours yesterday. Did my 35 min LISS with my pre-cardio fatloss protocol in the daytime, and had one meal before bed of half a rotisserie chicken, peppers, carrots, peanuts & sugar-free dark chocolate chips. I was going to go 36 hours, but realized I don’t really want to actually get much smaller before the meet, which will just change the leverages I practiced with. So I probably need to go into more of a holding pattern until the watercut next Friday.

Lol I just remember Matt Rhodes talking about the first time he met Louie. He was like 270 but 6’3”, so not very thick by open powerlifting standards. He asked someone from Westside at the meet they were at to go ask Louie if he could come try out to train at the gym. Louie says, “Who, that guy over there? He’s lifting today? I thought he was a volleyball player or something…”

Well thanks everyone. I do appreciate the compliments. I just want it to be known that this has to be the most impressive angle for me currently. With everything trimmed down some, you can see all the beach muscles better, but I miss feeling that “Godzilla” thickness. It’s really making me want to run some volume work on squats and pulls after this whenever I decide it’s time for a caloric surplus at some point.

Also, you know a podcast is going to be great when it literally starts talking about Dbol:

Ryan Kennelly was always a big inspiration! The Bench Monster

Man, got the abs showing and all…..I picture you just plowing through a bunch of skinny volleyball players, just for the fun of it. But seriously though, your shoulders, arms, and traps are jacked and really show at that weight. Mrs Hyde is gonna have to be slinging the girls left and right when you go to the gym.
Funny thing is, I bet she could sling a CrossFit girl pretty far.💪

I bet she could! She can pick me up even.

My wife wants me to be happy most of all, but I do know she prefers me leaner like this

Looking good, and a 500-1000g carb up away from looking full and beefy! I bet you look really impressive on the day of and after the meet once full of carbs. Your front delts always impress me!!!! Mine look non-existent compared to yours!

InBody is how I normally check approximate composition. I always go fasted, post bathroom, minimal clothing, no wedding ring/metal, and try to get a healthy amount of carbs and salt the day prior (trying for highest muscle reading, as it estimates water in muscle).

Only 3 less lbs of muscle and 11% (ELEVEN) less bodyfat than when I was 263-265. Down from 111lbs skeletal muscle and 29.5% BF, now 108lbs muscle and 18.5% bodyfat weighing in at 230.4lbs/
It’s been a productive 5 & a half months for this volleyball player!

Free at Supplement Superstore, and at the Complete Nutrition that used to be here. You just walk in any time they’re open and they will also save your info to your customer profile so you can see changes over time and get a stat print out.

I usually buy an energy drink or something just as a courtesy, but there’s never any pressure to do so.

I'm moving slow today but the takeaway is 33-35+lbs dropped and only 3 of which were muscle theoretically?

That's phenomenal dude.

Yep, and I tend to do them at similar timeframes (like a week or so pre-comp, on orals and not depleted) so I can get a snapshot of the peak conditions. I was definitely on much more gear the last time, so I feel pretty good about this composition swing.

I have chronic kidney failure stage 3 due to scarring I got when I was a kid due to strep infecting my kidneys. Although my kidneys function well and have not lost any function in years. I intend to order some as well.

Thanks for the share on that sup. Need a good one like that. Seems everything is coming together pretty good for you leading up to the meet.

That’s impressive, losing that much fat and only a few pounds of muscle. That’s a truly successful recomp. SNS has really put out some complete health supplements lately….Steve is really doing a good job since he has been able to get back at it…..the man has to be one of the hardest workers in the supplement industry.

Tried to get a lot of salt yesterday and consumed ~1.75 gallons of water. Today will be 2 gallons with a good amount of salt, then carbs drop out tomorrow, water will stay up, salt minimal. No salt Thursday, complete fast on Friday based on morning weight then.

When is weigh in, Friday or Sat morning? I'm sorta studying your dietary approach for the week and understanding when you carb back up.

Saturday.

I will fast Friday from so many hours out, including all water from that point on. I will also not consume sodium that day, and very minimal on Thursday and Wednesday. I will drink a lot of water through Thursday - coupled with a lack of salt, this will actually strip my electrolytes out while increasing frequency of urination. When I stop everything Friday, I have low electrolytes, will have no intake, & a higher frequency of urination, so things will fall off over the day. I can also sweat in the sauna late Friday night at the gym if it appears I have some extra weight to lose. I would like to go to bed Friday within 1-2lbs of making weight. I need to be in Chicagoland around 8:30am to get in line for when the scale opens at 9am.

If I wake heavy for some reason, I can always hit the gas station before I leave for some sour candies to suck on and spit in a bottle as I drive with the heat on high while wearing a hoodie, but sweating takes energy so that’s only a last resort.

As soon as I’m off the scale, I have a drink ready with salt and carbs I’ll begin sipping at a pace. If it goes well, in 10-15 minutes I will consume more, and by 30 minutes usually I’m drinking freely. I wait at least 1 hour to let the fluids get me filled out some before putting food in (you can’t digest well when dehydrated). You want to keep fats minimal, with the emphasis on simple carbs, fluid, sodium, creatine - you need to restore all of the fluid you lost and hopefully store a little extra. Only the last meal of the day would ideally be high fat, for sheer calories, as a top off.

man so much of that regiment reminds me of my wrestling days, sounds awesome. Except this is better since you get to eat after wards and we basically weighed in a half hour before competing lol

How many carbs do you intend to have during your refeed/ rehydration process?

Good stuff that is around where I was guessing.
