I still have the key from when I first started coaching even though I've moved three times, they've moved twice, and had different ownership like four times.... It's one of my favorite trophies. Invalid Link Removed

I was absolutely smashed yesterday, between still having this cold and working up over 90% on squats. Constant pain with basically all movement the rest of the day.

Not surprisingly, still feeling fairly smashed today

Did you take your alphaGPC?!?!?!

IDK maybe get some pho lol.
I've been doubling down on my elderberry again lately cause everyone around me has been sick and I'm not in the mood for that

Well I pinned 160mg choline chloride preWO, so my brain has been fine.

It’s just hard to actually move! For one thing, this water-based SARM blend has me feeling like a pin cushion. Tight lat, pec, & delt. Then sore traps, lats, erectors, abs, entire legs, plus aching shoulders, elbows & knees. And a headache from the cold - but otherwise I’m ready to rock!

SNS Cardiovascular Support XT - Advanced Heart Health Support - Now Available

^I have used almost all of these ingredients during blasts, and think they offer a lot of positive cardiovascular and even immune benefits naturally that you can’t get from prescription drugs. In less than half the pills if you were trying to buy most of these separately, and for comparable pricing.

Standardized garlic, olive leaf, pomegranate, D3 & K2, grape seed, arjuna (main functional ingredient of Carditone) in real doses, with some bonus Coq10 and S7.

Thanks for the heads up on this, that looks like a solid profile. Probably have to go for it as it's getting to be time to re-up. Interested to see the kidney support that's coming too.

That's a good looking product.

@Hyde I see you and your beautiful wife made it to the Arnold Strongman. I wish her the best of luck and hope you both have a great time !!

@Hyde since you got me onto carditone, will you be replacing it with SNS cardiovascular support moving forward?

Already have! I think Carditone is more of a bandaid product, while the ingredients in Cardiovascular support xt were designed to be run basally, for very long periods at a time, to promote overall wellness.

Thank you! I appreciate that Rocket. Weighins Thursday were a breeze, she has eaten well, and we are at the venue now - warmups soon and the hammer drops at 2pm EST!

LET’S GOOOOOOO!!!

If you make it to booth #1013 grab me a souvenir

also booths 756, 645, and 829

I’ll see if I can’t take a look!

I'm jealous man, maybe next year! I see Biolayne has a booth too, of course I'm certain Mr Norton himself has got to be around somewhere.

Good luck to your wife!!! Pumped to see this!!!

Everything must be kicking off now. I hope your wife kicks major ass and hits PR's across the board on everything.

Hey all, thanks for all the encouragement!

The short version: wife took 6th out of 11 in the under 160lb/73kg class at the Amateur World Championship. They only take the top 4 after the 4 events on Friday on to the final 3 events held Sunday. She missed out out on 4th place by only single point, and she would have won the max Circus dumbell in the finals, took last on the Ukrainian deadlift, and taken 1st-3rd on the Powerstairs. So if she had just made the finals, she would have realistically have placed 3rd, possibly 2nd overall.

The long version: first event Friday was Fatback Farmers. Run 196lbs/hand down, deadlift the handles for 4 reps, turn and repeat within 60 seconds. She smoked it, and took 2nd place out of 11. Lots of big energy.

Next event was Viking Press, which is essentially a leverage shoulder press machine. This event is really where she just wasn’t strong enough to earn a spot in the finals. The weight in hand was supposed to be 176lbs in hand, which she could rep in training on the makeshift barbell apparatus we were using. She zeroed this event, along with 5 other women in her class. This created a 6-way tie for last in this event, meaning a single rep here would have blasted her into the finals handily with 6 extra points (in conjunction with the rest of her later performance). This was brutal for all the classes, lots of zeros, and honestly not a great watch for the crowd.

Third event was an arm-over-arm sled pull. Whistle blows, athletes run to an anchored board they can press their legs against, grab a thick rope tied to a weighted sled down the lane, and start pulling like hell. The secret is to get into a rhythm with your hands to pull the slack out, give a big legpress into a back extension and repeat as fast as possible. The wife took 4th out of 11 here, earning big points to help salvage the disaster on Viking Press. This put her in 6th overall going into the last event.

Finishing up was a 6 implement Odd Object Loading Race. The women had 60 seconds to load up to 6 different objects in ascending weight up onto a long 48” table. Objects were placed in a line on both opposite sides, so 2 women could race head to head across from one another. A 132lb keg, a 155lb steel block, a 176lb compact cube like the Basque strongmen of Spain lift, a 198lb Husafell stone replica, a 220lb sandbag, and finally a 221lb fire hydrant. The wife blasted the first 3 objects up like a monster in under 12 seconds total…and then, she got screwed. It turns out they didn’t think to butt the horse stallmats the implements rested on up to the legs of the table, so while the tables and implements were heavy, there was nothing to stop the tables from sliding on the slick Convention floor. My wife has loaded a 200lb Husafell up to 50” multiple times in training no issue now, and she similarly launched this up. But when the stone contacted the lip of the table, instead of being able to lean into it the whole table just slid back. The 200lb stone and my wife came crashing to the ground. Dazed and with the wind knocked from her, she got up, pulled it out from under the table, and loaded it AGAIN, and still the table bucked. She was out of gas and out of time, but even with zeroing the Viking, if the table had just been secured she would have made the finals, and ultimately probably 3rd place and gotten to do a PR on the circus dumbbell.

Anyway, other than a swollen knee from the fall, she was injury free and still managed mid pack, so we have a lot to be grateful for, but it is a little bitter when you know you had the lift and equipment failure made the difference.

Vacation was pretty great - I will make another post summarizing that, but I wanted to let you guys know how the comp went!

Trip went well. Expo still isn’t back to 2019 status, but it was good and felt like it’s recovered a ton post-COVID. With the wife missing the finals, that took a lot of pressure and preparation out of things after Friday. There were a few awesome Circus Dumbbell presses on Sunday - only one woman, in any weightclass, could out-press my wife: she put up a blistering 154lbs and it was great to watch! 3 guys hit 259lbs, with one of them doing a 276 for the win and narrowly missing a 300 fun lift for the crowd.

Trained at a gym called Pinnacle Performance Saturday morning for heavy deadlift - this place was really excellent, and I highly encourage you try it if needing a place to train in Columbus. Lots of great Rogue equipment, space, lots of toys, some machines and cables. I would gladly train here again next time, and the owner went out of his way to come in extra early for me Saturday for a $10 walk-in. Pics online don’t remotely do it justice.

We brought the kids this year so we really didn’t get to do much expo or any evening socialization, but the in-laws came and we did get some great family time together. My son was loving swimming at the pool with Daddy, and we took him to a ballpit park Saturday that made all his dreams come true

I got to meet & chat with Scott McNally (Think Big Bodybuilding Media on YouTube) and Dusty Hanshaw, which was really enjoyable. Scott produces a lot of podcasts/several different shows I have listened to during cardio over the years, and Dusty is featured on one (It’s Just Bodybuilding) and a bodybuilder I always looked up to when I got into training. This was really cool, just getting to meet and connect and share with them after all they’ve shared with me over years. Great genuine guys.

@SkRaw85 went to the Anderson Powerlifting booth thanks to you. Got to meet and chat with Jimmy Kolb, and honestly that was a real pleasure. Really nice guy, exactly as expected as that’s what everyone I’ve ever heard has said. He helped me size the F8 single-ply widowmaker. 2XL was way too big and Medium seemed insanely gangster, especially considering I’m at my smallest. They were out of Large, but that’s what I’ll order if I get one. They had been selling like hotcakes he said and were wiped out already on Saturday.

It was fun to be back at the Arnold, but we decided next year we’re leaving the kids at home so we can more fully enjoy the entire weekend better. We didn’t get to watch any of the Pro show, and that is an awesome energy to behold.

Saturday training at Pinnacle Performance. 15 days out, so I had to get something heavy in my hands to try to get ready but still leave that last bit in the tank since it’s so close. Felt like I nailed it.

Sounds like your wife did really well and was really close to advancing….man it’s a bummer that equipment failure, the table moving, is what cost her. That’s a shame they didn’t secure that before the competition, especially considering she had a fall and could have sustained a serious injury, but glad she is alright.
Sounds like the family and vacation part of the trip was great, and it’s always cool when you find a good gym. Pulling some good deadlifts there….looks like you are zeroing in on your competition now.💪

Hyde, I'm glad you and your wife had a good time, tell her congratulations!!

Congrats to your wife, even despite the setbacks. Just competing on the stage at an event like that sounds like an awesome experience. Plus family time is always good! Hoping I get to go next year.

Too cool man, I've gone to way too many trade shows in the manufacturing and electronics sectors and never go to events like this which are actually in the "hobby/love/passion" side of life where you actually want to meet people at every booth haha. would be a blast.

Glad your wife is OK and dodged any real injuries. how's her morale? ready to hit it hard for the next comp?

Congrats to the wifey! That sucks they didn’t have their $hit together and know how to put together a strongman event. Was this ignorance or did they think this added extra dangerous variable was acceptable????

That’s cool you met Jimmy Kolb! He just seems like like an overall caring and genuine dude. I’ve been eating up his podcasts (along with all the usual suspects) on my work commutes and learning quite a bit about geared training. His CNS is one of a kind based on how he trains.

I’m definitely going next year. This has been on the list for too long.

AM TEAM ASEMBLE!!!!!

But seriously though, a bunch of the forum should plan the trip.

Sounds like you had an awesome experience. It's a shame they had such an oversite on the loading table not being secured. Just happy she didn't get injured but sad that it kept her from moving forward in the competition! Hopefully you can get in someone's ear about it and how unsafe it was so it is not repeated in the future.

Nice work on that 529, how did it feel on the hamstring? You thinking you will hit over 600 at the meet?

Thank you everyone for all the love!

Glad your wife is OK and dodged any real injuries. how's her morale? ready to hit it hard for the next comp?

We had a chat about what to do with her PEDs, because those always change after a show. Right now she told me she is upset/depressed about her results (although you couldn’t tell it) and there’s a big part of her that just wants to crank the gear and immediately start a prep for the biggest nearest show she can find

But we both know that’s a normal feeling and the last thing that needs to happen to be the best. So she will just be taking an athletic female TRT of 6mg test prop weekly (3x2mg shots) and be doing at least a month of general barbell/unilateral/injury prevention/recovery block

Congrats to the wifey! That sucks they didn’t have their $hit together and know how to put together a strongman event. Was this ignorance or did they think this added extra dangerous variable was acceptable????

Honestly, they’ve never used these new loading tables before and I feel it was just a genuine oversight. They were modular and designed to be used with the Ukrainian deadlift setup and very well-built & adjustable. Normally Strongman Corp does a lot of little things to help prevent potential issues, like duct-taping where mats meet and such, so this was hopefully just a growing pain.

I’m definitely going next year. This has been on the list for too long.

AM TEAM ASEMBLE!!!!!

It’s only a 5 hour drive for me so we normally try to go every year just because it’s a lot of fun if you enjoy strongman or powerlifting (I have never watched any of the bodybuilding there). Last year was the only year I haven’t been since my son was only 1 (and 2021 it didn’t happen). I think we will go next year.

It is such a long way away for me but it really would be cool if we could all set up a trip, maybe even stay at the same hotel, get some sessions in together at a local gym.

We still had yesterday off work, so I got to do this around noon after some much needed sleeping in and a real meal! Speed bench was absolutely flying, and plenty more in the tank on incline press but I’m tapering for the meet. It was a beautiful day and we got to take my son out to two different parks and have a relaxing day as a family before back to work today.

Took one more big shot yesterday (210 test/200 mast, previous week was 240/240) to get ready for the meet, and picked my RAD/S23 shots back up yesterday (didn’t do them Thurs-Sun, and instead took an Anadrol 50 on Friday & Saturday for the deadlift).

35 min fasted cardio today. Also, brought my leverbelt in ANOTHER notch on Saturday, so continuing to lean out at this bodyweight!

Great looking work out! How about some pic from your wife's computation ?

Really crushed it this morning. 496 is 11 more lbs than I fell with 6 weeks ago, and it wasn’t even a second attempt today, moved just as smooth as 467 prior. Could definitely have taken 520 after this no problem. Found out we’ll be using the Kabuki deadlift bar at this meet, so I pulled 5 last speed singles on that just to get the feel for the bar.

90% bench tomorrow night, then it’s basically a wrap besides some speed bench and little accessories.

You are ready to crush it at this meet !!

Awesome work, great to see everything coming into play. The wife's back looks so sick in that pic of the hand over hand rope row!!!!

Almost go time! How’s that Kabuki stack up against a Texas?

It just makes it easier, plain & simple. Feels thinner than Texas or Ohio, easier to hang onto, longer, whippier. If you just jerk it you can create whip that can throw you off, especially if you are sumo with a wide base, but it was built to maximize the sumo puller’s leverage and the new records clearly indicate it does that.

My last meet was my very first time on one, and while squats and bench difficulty were exactly spot on in my attempt calculations based on what I hit in training, deadlifts all felt easier and like I had another 22lbs in me - if I miss any lift at a meet, it’s usually my third deadlift, so that should tell you everything.

I specifically have been training on a Texas so I would be ready for whatever. So now I get a little bonus boost!

Getting more and more excited for you! There is just something about competing!!!
