Gym Pics - 61 yr old

Damn, you have that right! Big Pharma loves to charge you $100 for something like Vytorin or Lipitor, which are really the statin portion of Red Yeast Rice combined with some other proprietary substance which then makes it patentable and accepitible to their marketing dept., AKA the FDA. I have gotten my wife, sister, best bud and dozens of others to switch to 600 mgs of RYR and 100 mgs of Ubiquinol (AKA CoQH) as opposed to using the older CoQ10 (AKA Ubiquinone), and every single one of them has dropped some 30+ points in their cholesterol. They have also lost the leg pains and other side effects which come with commercial statins. My bud's cardiologist told him it was working so well that he should double the RYR to 1200 mgs. For the long term, however I really believe in Omega 3s because for both my wife and my bud, it also completely elliminated their congestive heart failure ie. Atrial Fibrulation. Vitamin D3 also has lots of adherents to its use versus cholesterol.

Dutch's "Dirty Dozen" of healthy Vitamin priorities
1. Vitamin D3
2. Omega 3s
3. RYR + Ubiquinol
4. Green Tea Extract
5. Curcumin/Turmeric Extract
6. Broccoli Sprout Extract
7. Resveritrol
8. Acetyl l-Carnitine
9. Astazanthin
10. Selenium
11. Taurine
12. Beta-Alanine

Here are a few pics from today, as promised, turned 66 last week.
I broke my all time record today - 250lbs..I could only do 9 - maybe I will do better next week.

Man ur awesome

Fucckking brilliant

Thought u said last few years had been rough on you. Who u kiiding "Old Man" ur a god damn rockstar

Congrats on trhe PR

Well u just fired me up mate

42 and off to the gym ;)

Thx for the update

Congrats on the good numbers Ageless. Good move testing just before your weekly injection. My VA Doc has me on the 2.5 mg patch for 6 weeks now and it is useless, too low a dosage, blotches up, falls off, just sucks. I hope to go injection in June when she does my next panel.

Two concerns I have as a fellow Old Fart:
1. Work on the cholesterol by doing megadoses of Fish Oil. I do 7 gms ED which translates to about 2.1 gms of Omega 3s . This keeps my HDL up at 55 or more and the tris and LDL down.

2. I don't like the Vitamin D3 number either. You want to stay up around 65 to 70 ng/dl per the latest natural health advisory. I do so by taking 10,000 IUs ED. Age and size reduce our ability to produce it, so supplementing is the best way out. Hell, it's a tiny BB sized gel cap that only costs me about $8.00 for 120 of the 5,000 IU caps.

They are to me at least, two of the most important measurements of all for us as we age. Just my 2 cents. Looking forward to your latest pics.

Where do you get the cheap vitamin D3?

I'd have a lot less respect for this guy if he was juiced like a wrestler, but that's just the thing. He's only taking his medicine, and he looks awsome!

and he works his butt off in the gym 5 days a week
and feels like rigamortis has set in every morning. LOL

Prices on Vitamin D3 are dropping fast. I like to use Vitacost.com and their in-house brand of NSI. Their latest price is 365 gel caps for only $16.99, ie less than $1.50 per month if you use 10,000 IUs as I do.

Last April I could only do 9 reps. I was so excited...I thought what the hell.....go for 270 lbs - with great surprise I got all 10..

..hmm I wonder ??? is 300 lbs possible?? So I put on my I-pod, put on my favorite song - "Amazing Grace" I grabbed the bars and pushed...Nope!! It would not move - not even an inch. Maybe in another 6 months and a lot more Grace I can do it, if I don't run out of time.

LOL.....you let me put some music in your I-pod for ya, you'll be all set to move some mountains!!

This is awesome. I thought being in my 30's I was to old to be trying to get big, then I thought I'd try till I hit the 40's, then just surfing the site I find you and DAMN!!!

You're my dad's age and its hard to imagine him looking like you, the fatty LOL!!

can i blow up a picture of you and print it on a t-shirt that says "my grandpa can kick your grandpas ass"? im dead serious too haha

Ageless, what can I say... I am joining the chorus: "...my goal is to look like you in my
60's..." Oh, and congrats on the new PR! :)

Wow! I hope I'll look the same at your age.. What comments do you got from people of your age? I bet that you got a lot of attention when you take your shirt off at the beach :D

There are guys half your age in the gym every day taking whatever supplements that don't look near as good as you do. Congrats

Just spent about 30 minutes reading this entire thread.

Great stuff.

Thanks.

I'll have to keep checking it from time-to-time for updates!

Agey,

I hate to tell ya, but you gots the weights wrong. Yep, ya hafta add 10 pounds for the apperatus on that hammer strength machine. You were lifting 260 and 280 pounds, and your last attempt was at 310 not 300.

:clap2:

Hey tuberman...what was I thinking...I forgot that the hammer strength was 10 lbs without plates. That machine is my favorite tool in the gym.

At 5'10" 228lbs you must be a "monster".

Do you lift on that machine?

Please don't post what you lift 10 times! I am sure it would just embarass me! LOL

I will try for more the first of the year.

Ageless,
You're stronger than you think you are, and I have some tips to prove it.

A)When going for a PR use only 50-60% efforts for your inital warmup. Do say 190 pounds about 12 times on the HS shoulder press, then up it to say 240 pounds (2 large plates and 1 25# plate on each side), but only do 2-3 reps. This is enough warmup to prepare you for a max effort (say 310 pounds). This alone will probably be enough to make the PR. You've been weakening yourself early with the numerous reps at heavy weights.

B)But wait, there's more. When trying for your PR grip the handles as tightly as you can, as if you intend to crush them. this will give you an extra 3-4 pounds of lifting ability.

C) Also, tighten your butt muscles like you are trying to pinch a dime between them. This give you an extra 8 pounds of contraction ability if done intensely.

D) Hold your breath when you begin the lift. Fill lungs to about 75% of capacity and then hold as you start the lift. This technique has been known to martial arts since ancient times, and becomes automatic with practice.

If you find, as I suspect, you can easily do 310#, you can add another 10# and try 320 as you will not be wore out.

Hope this helps you. I really figure that you are capable of at least 320 pounds right now.

Wow, just wow! Youre physique is amazing for someone who is 36, much less 66. Youre an inspirtion to us all. To keep it up. The iron is a life long quest, and youre the epitome of that. Thanks! Keep it up!

This has to be the best thread I've come across on this site. Ageless - you are incredible. Tons of people are saying "I wanna look like that in my 60s too!" Well, I'm 25 and I wanna look like that at 25! Keep killin that sh!t brotha!

My wife came by the gym yesterday to take some pics - so I wanted to post them.

The Big Old Man and The Little Old Man

Hey, Friend.

Every couple of years I post my latest shots here just to give the smaller old guys some encouragement. I weigh under 145 pounds and I'm 5' 7" tall, and at 67, a year older than you, Big Man. LOL

These were taken on stage at the 2010 NPA Si-Flex Pro Am Championships at Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA on October 16, my 31st competition and 6th pro show.

Old Navy - you look great as always.

Yes there is a small difference between our overworked bodies. I do admire you and everything you have done to promote and support this great industry. You are truly an inspiration.

You are 5'7" and 145 lbs...I am 5'7" and 205 lbs at present time. I will be 67 in April and I must say...my old body feels every long year.

I am on HRT 200 mg cyp every 7 days/ I do know that hormore replacement wont make me the "LIFE" of the party at the party of life. I am just very happy and do appreciate to still be invited.

Oh and one more thing...your stamina & drive are outstanding.

Thanks, Ageless.

I am a firm believer in the benefits of TRT and HRT. If I wasn't still a competitive master pro bodybuilder entered in "natural" competitions that are "tested," I would look to be on both HRT and TRT. Once I retire from competing, I will seek the proper medical advice and make my decision then. I am all for slowing down the aging process.

Old Navy

Both Ageless and OldNavy look great!

This is a great thread and very inspirational thank you Ageless!

Ageless, I'm going into my 5th month on 200 mgs of Test Cyp a week. This morning I got my latest test results and clocked in at 1310 ng/dl on total test and 412.3 on free test. No wonder, I had so much fun over the holidays LOL.

Iesu Mawr!
If I look half as good at 40 I'll be a happy bunny,
Ageless and Old Navy might just be my new role models...

Ageless and Old Navy, you guys look amazing. Much props, and keep inspiring all of us, thank you.

Nice Navy Belt Buckle. Are you retired navy? I have almost 15 years in. Take care.

Out of 40,000 views you're the only one who mentioned my belt buckle.
They were a gift from my nephew who is a navigator on the USS Jacksonville..(attack sub) I was lucky enough to be able to take a 3 day trip on it with him. Now I know why they call it the "silent service".... What a ride!

Things have been quiet here lately so I thought I'ld add a couple pics of my own. Now that our gym here in The Villages Fl, has finally added some benches for flat/incline/decline BP and as I continue to recover nicely from my RC injury, I am getting some decent workouts in. My goal is to hit 10 X 10 @ 225 before I turn 70 later this year. I'm also cranking out some heavy rack Deads @ 3 X 5 @ 370 as I aim at a 450 single this year as well. My significant other also has added some serious lifting to her workouts the last 10 weeks and for her 68 B-Day today she just did 4 very nice squats @ 100 lbs. Here are shots of me and of us together from this week. So we're old, we are the healthiest old couple in this huge, 85,000+ retirement community. Heck they call us the "power couple" for our workouts LOL.
