Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?

Today I saw an obese woman riding one of the little scooters provided by a store wearing a WWJD necklace and all I could think was "he'd probably walk, and eat a lot less"

He had to be light, he walked on water

sorry, just had to

Merry Christmas, everyone.

I would have gotten involved here, but I make it a point to not debate religion or politics; that's why you never see me post in those sections.

I'm roman catholic myself; brought up and raised in catholic school; even high school/college. I can't say I'm the best practicing catholic anymore by some peoples standards, but I am making it a point to become more involved again and raise my daughter that way as well. I've always embraced prayer and still do everyday since I was a little guy. In my job I encounter many different denonminations of faith in patient care, so I've learned a lot about other religious beliefs/practices along the way. I may not always agree, but I'm respectful of them.

Anyway, have a happy and safe christmas, guys. :)

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." Luke 2:8-14

What else is there to talk about besides these two? Politics is in everything these days, and religion is the foundation on which beliefs are shaped, or at least for me and other follower's of Christ, in addition to anyone who has a belief system in any other religion.

Heck, even chatting about the weather and climate: Who controls it? What's becoming of the UN and their desire to make a Global Climate Panel? - You just can't get away from it.

In our age there is no such thing as "keeping out of politics." All issues are political issues, and politics itself is a mass of lies, evasions, folly, hatred and schizophrenia.

After reading Irish Cannon's first posts on this subject, I did some research to see if he was full of it. He's right and now I think its spitting in God's eye to adapt customs meant for a false god. I think I'm fed up with all organized religion.

Because after they saw signs: Moses Burning bush, parting the sea, healing the sick, blind to see, raising the dead, in the end they FORGET what they saw and continued in their disobedience, living in their sin like nothing ever happened and those signs never rooted in a changed heart.

People don't need to have signs so they will be able to then save themselves. People need to be saved because they are incapable of saving themselves even when they have had the signs to see for themselves with their own two eyes.

EDIT: BTW you can read it in your NT. They asked why and they were told why. "I'm done with signs - you don't pay attention or listen and still simply do what you want anyway" (quote paraphrased)

Mattew 13
14 And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says:

‘ Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,
And seeing you will see and not perceive;
15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should[a]heal them.’

It seems that everyone's opinion of what christmas is is so different. To a christian why do you celebrate christmas? Most likely to honor the birth of Jesus Christ. The problem here is Jesus never told anyone to. Neither did his apostles tell anyone to.

The catholic Encyclopedia "Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church"

Rather jesus said to honor his death here at Luke 22:19

"Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body which is to be given in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”

Jesus did not celebrate his birth date and neither did his apostles. There are a few reasons you can argue. Jesus never drawed attention to himself. He always focused the attention to his father. Also after all Jesus sacrifice was the reason why anyone is alive today, his birth ment nothing if he did not sacrifce himself for all. Jesus was a humble man. I can't picture Jesus at a birth day party. He was giving, not a selfish "take take" kind of person.

I feel that the holiday is completely disrespectful to him. Anyone and everyone celebrates christmas, it's not just for the christians. In this case you can ask yourself WWJD? If your a catholic do the research. Find out where it came from.

What I find is that non-christians know more about the holiday then many "christians" do. They've done their research. The hypocrisy in religion today is extravagant.

Mt. 15:6 And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7″You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you: 8′THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. 9′BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME,TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.’” --key word hypocrites--2 cents--
