Gym LAW

Can someone help me find th law that states you need to wear close shoes not flip flops or bear feat and a towel.

I can't seem to find it when I tried to google it.

Theres a old guy at my gym who thinks he owns the gym by working out in bear feet at the age of 80. It is so un sanatary and gross.
 
I've heard of that before...not all that uncommon among the more 'hardcore' I suppose...

Shoes for me, though. Nike b-ball shoes (no gel). Flat soles, decent lace. :)
 
I just want a standard plus for the gym I run I would like to reenforce it with the younger kids that come in with flip flops. With out some kind of law I can point them to they will keep comming in bear foot.

It's your gym? Just put up a big fuc&ing sign that says shoes must be worn/NO FLIP FLOPS.

And when I guy like myself comes in on leg day I'll just tear it down and squat naked!
 
I don't physically own it but I run it. I did not create the rules so people will do what ever they want.
 
Plus if it is not a low there is nothing I can do.
That is why I want to know if there is a low where can I find it.
 
Make sure to word it properly so as not to come off as angry. For the safety of yourself and other gym-goers, it is required that you wear close-toed shoes in the gym. Thank you.
 
Tried that and I had someone ask me if that was a low. Its like the stupid weed law. locally it may be legal but federally it may not.

So I can write it on are white board which it does but if there no law that states it there nothing I can do about it.

It has nothing to do with a LAW. It's simply a matter of a gym enforcing rules since it's an establishment and can do so. Most of the gyms I've ever gone to have similar rules like no jeans w/ rivots, must wear shoes, etc. So, if corporate won't allow it, just deal with it.
 
NOT being able to put a shoe "law" up is really retarded, IMO. Mine is a little private gym but the sign up says "no street shoes on equipment". I don't really use the "equipment", but I do have a pair of shoes there that have never seen pavement. I think it makes sense.
 
somehow make sure this guy steps in some warm poo.that will fix this guy walking around without shoes on.

My gym isn't that strict but it says in the contract must wear shoes no sandals or opened toed footwear. I personally don't care like T-AD i have a pair of shoes that has never seen pavement and use for the gym.

And a liability, go tell your gym ppl that they could get sued if a 5lbs plate falls on his toes... the 80yo defense would be, they never told me to wear shoes. chaching

I think this is pretty close to the answer. Im guessing its a liability issue, and if the insurance company that covers the gym hears about it they could raise or drop you for it. I think that might be the extreme end of it, but i have seen other gyms use the same excuse to people who want to work out in tevas and what not. Dont know how true it is , but the person you tell it to wouldnt be able to prove you wrong.

This is actually is interesting, because there seems to be some what of a barefoot movement in running and exercising even taking as far as doing everyday things barefoot or wearing whats suppose to be a barefoot technology type shoes(vibram five fingers,merrel has a new shoe coming out, so does New balance)

this sounds like some type of tea party movement... I'm glad I missed that one too :D
I would go up to your gym manager and ask if the insurance policy allows such behavior
 
Just call your Gym's insurance company and ask... I'm sure one call from the insurance company to your boss would easily fix this problem...
 
I deadlift and squat barefoot.. but then again I lift at home.
 
i used to go to a gym where some guys spit on the floor and puked without a trash can on leg day. Allow this for a while and I bet he'll start wearing shoes!

There're days I squat till I throw up... But I still squat barefoot!!
 
Hahaha... a mandated law governing what you can wear in the gym... now THAT would be one serious nanny state.

The gym has right of refusal, so get your people to allow you to setup a rule for your gym, or just deal with it... really no two ways about it.
