Dead lifts for me... There is absolutely nothing like pulling 405+ off the ground w/ great form and locking out at the top. From your neck to your calves, nearly every muscle in your body gets activated and receives a powerful growth stimulus from dead lifts. Not only is the deadlift the most effective mass building exercise there is but it is also the most basic and has the greatest carryover to the real world. There aren’t many times in life where you would lie down on your back and press a weight overhead like you would during a bench press. But hardly a day goes by when you don’t bend down and pick something up off the floor, which is what you do when you dead lift.

It trains you for real life situations and helps to prevent the oh-so-common lower back problems that plague hundreds of thousands of adults. My mothers side of the family predisposed to having lower back problems, myself included. Once I began incorporating dead lifts into my routine and gradually upping the weight to what it is today, my lower back problems have all but vanished!!

I'll go with Deadlifts. I started incorporating them into routine a little over a year ago. The lift is great for all around strength, my bent over rows have increased as well as leg press/squats since I've stated doing deads. I'm pressing 945 on leg press and I contribute a lot of that to that explosive power I've gotten from the deadlift. Its a total back exercise depending on what grip you use. I'll use a very wide grip occasionally and after 5 or 6 sets my upper and lower back and rear delts are fried. Deads are the ultimate lift for me b/c they affect so many muscles in one movement-rear delts, upper/lower back, legs, forearms (my grip has increased greatly).

Deadlift>all

One of my favourites & a very practical exercise for building strength you may actually use in every day life:

FARMER'S WALK

Simply grab some heavy DBs & walk around the gym until you can't hold it any more. Repeat & your forearms will be screaming. Grip strength will increase tremendously.
 
Just plain old fashion push ups for me. Im a short guy and I used to get picked on in high school. I started working out at home using body weight excercises for the most part. My chest really began to develop and so did my confidence, even the girls began to take notice! This led me to get even more serious about fitness and now it an integral part of my life. Even though push ups aren't my most important excercise now days, they are still part of my routine. They are most important due to the fact that they helped bring me confidence and led to my love of fitness!
 
I am going to go with what my dad told me when I asked him for a home gym when i first started working out. " All you need is the ground and a bar." So thats what I did; push ups and pull ups. My dad cemented a bar in the backyard and i wore out the ground around it. The first time I started seeing strength increase and over all body recomp after a few months. That right there is what opened my eyes to fitness.

For me its been Military presses. An old tried and true lift akin back to the days of the strongmen of yore. Upright rows, lateral raises with dumbells or cables, front raises, they all work fine for delts, but emperor of all delt excercises is the military press. You can do them seated, standing, in a smith machine or power rack, behind the neck or bar in front, dumbell or barbell you take your pick.

Ive beefed up and rounded out my delts thanks mostly to this one simple and common excercise. Triceps and believe it, lats or involved. Lats contribute to balance, triceps contribute to pushing power, all of this has helped translate into better numbers on the bench, and pretty much any pushing, pressing, or tricep related excercise.

Either a well built chest and or shoulders can't be hidden very well in clothes. They easily signal a badge or icon, representing power, strength, determination and respect. There are few of us who walk around in everyday society with these visual benchmarks, but when we see a fellow warrior in iron with them, we know quietly inside what it took to get them, how hard they worked. We "get them" and understand.

Thanks to the Military Press, I have my very own identifiable badges of honor.

barbell curls have been my favorite exercise that improved my physique! Gotta blast the biceps brah! But seriously, bicep curls have seriously given me the vascularity and pumped look that I've been after since learning to lift. It has also given me a massive confidence boost so win win.
 
The best single exercise is the Barbell Squat. It is the KING! The deadlift is top 3, but not the same as pushing your self out of the hole with 400 plus pounds on you for reps. It is the most physically exhausting exercise, which uses so much of your body to complete. It also encourages growth throughout the whole body. Its bragging rights to say how much you can squat. Some guys in the gym fear the squat rack. They use it for barbell curls. They squat half reps, and wonder why their legs are small.
Do you want your deadlift to go up? Squat. You want to get stronger, or bigger? Squat.
Do you know what makes dreams come true in the gym, and makes men puke, and pass out? The squat. Its the best.
 
My favorite exercise would definitely have to be pullups... As a professional trainer and competitive bodybuilder, I feel that pullups can pretty much have a place in any workout routine. I love how you can change grips so little, and they have such a drastic change on the section of your back that is the primary focus of contraction. You can get so many different squeezes out of pullups it shouldn't just be considered one exercise
 
Do you know why dead lifts are so important. Even for the common folk. Just think about it we lift boxes move things around and what better tha to practice by doing the dead lift for something simple as moving to a new house or getting some new tv in the house and you need to pick it up from the ground. I know that for sure was the case for me when I moved. I had a huge ass 100 gallon fish tank with fish in it. I had to move it a good 1. 5miles from my old place to the new place and man had I had not done dead lifts I bet your butt this would have been a night mear.

and in this case, you are giving us pslin, and that,makes me real happy :) and btw, super cissus has in two months improved the tendonitis in my left elbow so much,that i hardly even notice it, just hit a pr on dumbell curls on friday and three months ago i couldent even think about curling heavy without my elbow hurting, so there I go "talking" about you guys again, because your produts are valuable, and they work well, thanks bud. Push ups improved my physique more than any other exercise, they were the only thing i could do when i started working out 4 years ago, I was in jail for stupid drug related stuff(iv been sober now for 4 years) but anyhow i had 50+ lbs of fat on me and could not even do a single push-up, i was so out of shaped I looked like a pear with wet pasta noodle for arms lol, i would literally do stealth mode "girl push ups" after everyone was sleeping and do them real quiet like(trust me, it would be BAD for buisness if the fellas saw someone doing those) and then id quietly roll my fat out of breath butt bac into bed and in about two months i was doing day time man pushups :) and after 4 months i was doin over 300 a day, over the course of the day, its all you really can do besides play cards, but doing that gave me a great starting point opon my release and motivation to loose all that fat and hit the gym hard, ive never slowed down since, the end.
 
Weighted pushups are better if you want to do pushups. Like squats or pull ups weights are the only way to grow. Over loading your muscles with more weight each week is the only way your body adapts.
