I have had the same thing happen with bench before. It was about two years ago and I was doing chest. Started with flat, then did incline, and finally decline which is where I had trouble. I was tired and was trying to lift to much weight by myself. I dropped the weight and these two dude ran over and helped me out. It was more embarassing than anything because this dude was benching like 500+ and i was sitting there with 225 on the decline lol. So lesson learned the hard way.
 
Last night I didnt get to work out because I went to a ballys locations that claims on their site to be open until 12, but in reality closed at 11. So I went early this morning. The downside is I wasted a serving of White Flood last night. Ugh...

Well anyway I woke up quite refreshed and was feeling pretty good this morning. I slept like a rock last night. I didn't have any dreams I can remember, but still felt amazing as I got up.

I decided to head down to the gym and take my white flood as usual. Unfortunately, I couldnt use the scooper perfectly as I was putting it into a water bottle, so it became difficult to measure. What I found out is that I definitely used more then intended because I was quite stim-d throughout my workout and was sweating heavy. I dont blame the flood, it was my fault for being to lazy to use a funnel for the scooper.

Still had a decent workout, but kept weights on par with where I have been. The lifting went good, and already I am feeling quite relaxed with no real soreness.

I did sign a lease for a new apartment today. The credit check/application went good and all I have to do is provide proof of income on Monday, then I get my keys tuesday. Back to the city for me :D
 
Looking for opinions on the future of my workout.

I am currently, as I mentioned previously, doing a 3 day mostly powerlifting-style split. My strength has been increasing, but now that I am moving back to the city, It will be much easier for me to pull off a 4/5 day split, and I want to start working on mass as opposed to pure strength. What program do you guys recommend. I am looking for either a 4 or 5 day, nothing more. Although mass will come from isolation, I still want to include my squats, bench and deads, standing press and power cleans preferred but optional.

Let me know what you guys recommend.

EDIT: If it is a program with an easily accessible book/documentation online, that is a plus. As I mentioned before my program came from Starting Strength by Rippetoe, so it was beneficial knowing the benefits of every aspect of my lifting.

With the whole lease signing/move coming up, I feel that this week I will have to put very strong dedication towards getting to the gym, as I am quite busy. I really don't want to sacrifice lifting at all though, so we shall see.

BTW: Appetite has been through the roof, one hour after a HUGE meal, I am ready to eat again. Its an awesome benefit.

really enjoying your results on hghpro-i am going to be using it soon. as far as mass goes as long as you are lifting heavy i feel diet is the most important part.

Yea I think I misstated that. My diet is pretty good, and will be getting even tighter, I was just looking to see if there was a benefit to going to a "bodybuilder" type isolation based split as opposed to a powerlifting strength focused split.

the one you should talk to is geek poop, he has been experimenting with different styles of workouts. he has been getting some good advice from some knowledgeable old timers on another forum. i will see if i can round him up for you.

So you going for strength and mass right now I think I read right? over the last 2+ years Ive messed around with a lot of bb routines and some PL ones.


I got a buncha routines and templates saved I could post up for ya if you wanted. Ill wait to see what you wanna do first tho.
 
My real goal is in mass, I am more concerned with physique then actual strength, but I enjoy getting stronger and stronger. So lets say I am looking 75% mass, 25% strength.
Id suggest a modified 5 x 5 routine almost. kinda best of both worlds. focuses on squat/bp/dl/row/ohp. the routine is pretty plain and boring but you can spice it up, throw some more accessory lifts in there what are more geared towards BBing - dips, inc bp, weighted pull ups, etc. Id prolly make it into a 4day a week program, atleast thats my prefernce 4 days a week.

its kinda close to summer, you doing a cutting phase or something? jw cuz if you are I wont suggest this.

if youre gonna cut some cals, Id suggest the Layne norton Power/hypertrophy template. than again its a template and you can modifiy it to suit you.

ive done both and liked both. I didnt mod 5x5 tho, i got bored of it. I suggest modding it lol
 
I am going to be doing a cut soon, just not sure when. Id like to do it as soon as possible, and quite possibly with the Pink Magic. Only issue is I will be using Clenbuterol, so I will have to check with USP if they are ok with me stacking the sponsored log. If not it will be shortly after, and I will continue to bulk through the Pink.

kk. scratch the 5x5 all together lol.

Id roll with Layne's template, its pretty simple and you can customize it with your more preferred exercises. incase ya dont know, he has 2 version for the power 3 x 5 and 5 x 5. the rule of 5x5 is 10-15% of your 1RM. So youd set up the 3 x 5 cuz your cutting and itd go liek this...

if you 1RM is 100lbs...
85 x 5
75 (72.25) x 5
65 (63.75) x 5

and thatd be your power set, start low at progressing to higher weight. you want me to post the template or PM you it?

Alright so as far as the workout that GeekPoop posted, I will be looking to make that switch when I start the Pink, which will give me time to get settled into my new apartment before increasing time in gym.

As far as last nights workout:
Bench: Did about what I have been doing, I later attempted a higher weight in the power rack, which I only do when the gym is empty enough to not take away from squats, but after 2 reps, (was going for 5) I couldn't do it. Might have been because I was just worn by the time I attempted it. I was actually able to get this weight up 4 times when I had the scare of my life I talked about earlier.
Squat: No total increase, but my lifts started higher, and I got a couple more reps out of my current heaviest set. I was happy, but had to sit for a minute afterwards, legs were jelly.
Dead: Man my back and grip were just terrible yesterday. I don't use gloves, which is just a personal prefrence (In the words of Mark Rippetoe: If your going to get gloves, make sure you get a purse to match -- I kid, but I might have to get them soon as my girl hates the constant calluses), but I couldn't get a damn good grip on the bar, My back felt weaker through the lifts then last time, but the slipping grip made it feel damn near impossible to get the weight lifted. Got through less total sets then previously.

Did some Bi work, leg press, chest press machine, and some leg curls as well.

Sleep is still going solid, except for whatever reason, my recovery wasn't as good as it has been recently on the HGHpro. My legs were sore upon waking this morning, but hey, with the recovery I have seen recently, I can't chalk this against the HGHpro, just rather a whatever day.

Total weight as of last night was 200.6, but keep in mind I still carry more fat then I am anywhere near happy with, and my scale is ****. In a 3 month bulk though, I am up 10 lbs-ish, So I am quite happy, just wish I didn't start the bulk with as much fat as I have.

Maybe I will have to PM USP about the clen usage during the Pink. Would you guys be interested in seeing the support Pink can give to a cut with clenbuterol?

couple of things I forgot to mention.

With the hypertrophy days, you can turn some if not most of the lifts into accessory lifts for the main lifts, ex. close grip BP ----> BP DB row ---> DL

stuff like that.

and dont worry about if stuff feels heavy or focusing on reps, focus on technique. Technique will give you reps. I didnt understand it at first but it works. Think the lift out in your head before doing it. Ok so Im going to lower my hips...pull back... thrust hips...shrug...boom DL! Give it a whirl.

5 x 5 works pretty slick, pretty much the only variable is your eating.

As for the pink magic, after a discussion with usp it makes more sense to run it independent of the clenbuterol, in order to judge its performance. So i will run the. Clen following that run.

As for the workout change that will take place with the start of the pink magic, as by then i should be settled in enough to my new place to be able to devote more time to the gym/meal preparation (i am going to start making a ton of chicken breast every sunday to bring to work for the week).

I today noticed i am about at the half way point of my bottle of hghpro (i eyeballed it). It is a sad moment, the level of deep sleep and recovery i have achieved with it has been nothing short of amazing. I am tempted to snatch a bottle of it, but it wouldnt fit into my planning, but i cant wait to grab more!

I havnt noticed any change in skin composition, but i do think i am leaning out a bit, which is suprising because i am eating quite heavy.this is definitely a big plus, although i was hoping for some of the skin benefits that others had noticed.
 
Oh yea, i should probably mention my workout....

Well as usual i started with my squats, and guess what? Another plus 10 pr! I just had a feelin i should do it and actually got through two sets of 5 at the increased weight. Since the start of this log i think i am up plus 30, which is shocking but i remain positive that i am not sacrificing form. Sweet ****!

Alright now where things have started to change from the usual. My powercleans have been sucking lately. I will go up weight one week and down the next. I think a part of it is i am just getting a bit bored of them. Since i had to do standing press afterwards anyway, i decided after a couple sets of heavier powercleans to go for lighter weight and do some clean and presses. Wow! They felt great and it put a little excitement back into what was becoming a mundane lift. I understand the importance of switching it up so until the new routine given by geekpoop and the pink magic i will just add clean and press in substitution of a couple sets of power cleans.

I did some skull crushers, shoulder press machines and a bit of ab work followed by a cool down cardio session with a heartrate of around 129.

All around good session but the legs definitely took it the hardest my legs were jelly the rest of the night.

I was really excited, I literally had to sit for a bit after it. Might have been a bit earlier then I planned to do the +10, but I did it with good form so all is good.

I have never stayed longer than a 6 month lease, and have broken a few 6 monthers early for Army duty lol...

I was stationed in CA for a little over 1 year and moved twice rofl...

"What's that, the rent is cheaper and its a nicer place??? You are helping me move sucker!"

Alright I am back from the dead with good and bad news:

The bad: I havn't seen a gym since my last entry, the overwhelming requirements of the move as well as combining alot of mine and my girlfriends stuff has turned into more then a full time job.

The good: Still been taking my nightly HGHpro, and if it wasn't for its assistance in giving me a restfull sleep, who knows how cranky I would be by today - LOL, does this now count as a wellness product?

Thanks all for the good wishes on the move, it went as smoothly as it could even though we still have some organizing to do.. but luckily, nothing will stop me from hittin' the iron tonight. Full speed ahead.

Oh, and my one distraction from moving so far can be sumarized in one video:



God what a ****ing series it has been so far, last nights 3rd period made my heart stop at least 15 times.

I push myself to eat right and hit the gym because I feel like not only do I desire this for myself, but I owe it to those who support me in this thread and follow my progress...

What will come from it? Better breathing, faster gains, easier cardio, more weight? Who knows, but its the healthy choice and its about damn time that I just say good bye to it. I mean I watch what I eat and exercise to stay healthy, but smoke, its a bit hypocritical.

I quit the cigs about 3 yrs ago. I know have a fine cigar from time to time.
 
You can do it bro! I quit this last Christmas after 11 years of half a pack a day and have never looked back. Just fill up your time with something engaging. And man you'll save a lot of money. I sure have. :D
 
i never figured a smart guy like you to be a smoker-glad to hear you are giving up that dumb habit. i quit drinking 13 years ago, so i know addictions can be tough-you just have to be tougher!!!
