Forgot to comment on your diet structure, interesting format. Don't think I've ever come across someone that eats quite like that (schedule-wise).
It's called Intermittent Fasting - something I've been reading about for a while and decided to give it a short "evaluation" try. I'm still finding ways to tweak and theoretically improve exactly how I go about I.F.

I will continue using it for the duration of my Ultima Log, and dependent upon results, I will either continue with I.F. or go back to my previous 6-7meal/day eating schedule.

I can tell you from experience that it does not interfere with my sleep whatsoever. Go for it and let us know how it works out for you. And yes, that a unique way of taking Ultima. ;)
Great! Thanks for letting me know Iron - I hate having supps keep me up at night. Androgenic mentioned dosing this way and I can see the benefit of having Ultima constantly in your system throughout the day.

Your third meal sounded like it could be on the menu at a Thai restaurant, damn!
My last meals are for some reason always the ones that I put the most effort into. One of these days I'll have to post up my "Anabolic" Meat Sauce Recipe; throw that over some Shiritaki or Whole Wheat Spaghetti...mmmm...

Oh yeah, I need a new bulk meal to cook. I've burnt out on everything I traditionally make, so I've been spending tons of money eating out. Although, El Pollo Loco has a current 3 leg, 3 thighs for $4.99 deal that I've been slaughtering.

Alright, I'll put that up in here later today for ya.

I'm putting together an order from NP right now and would to incorporate a growth hormone promoter during my fasting periods. I was thinking L-Dopa or Supersap, which would you all recommend?

A cluster set: load the bar with a weight that you could lift 2-3 times normally, do one rep, pause 5-20sec and repeat 5-6times. It allows you to move a higher amount of weight for more reps per set than normal. With a full-body lift like C&Ps, I prefer clusters. I reset my stance after each rep and pull as soon as I am able. Clustering also extends the length of the set, keeping my heart rate elevated longer and helping to improve my anaerobic performance.

The gemma protein I got for cheap and it tastes decent. I take in 3-4scoops per day, which is the same amount of protein powder that I have always gotten in my diets. However, it is now just a part of each meal, rather than 2 meals' main source of protein.
That's the same as rest-pause isn't it?

In principle, yes, but rest-pause doesn't usually deal with numbers quite that heavy (2-3 rep range). I think rest-pause is usually used in HIT and/or DC in a 5-6 rep range on the heavy side, or a more hypertrophic approach with a 12-15 rep range, ending at 20 or 30 total reps ["usually"].

Shrugs with the 125lbs Db's, rest-pause style in a 15, 10, 10 reps progression will make your neck look like two tumors.

My gym doesn't have DBs over 120. But then, I rarely do shrugs anyways. :p

And yeah, rest-pause is typically used for more hypertrophic loads, as Volcom pointed out so helpfully.

DAY 4

Ultima Update: So I went through with the 4 sublingual doses today. No real nootropic or energy effects to report over the course of the day; I believe spreading out the doses so much prevented such aspects from being noticeable.

Following Ultima with a meal takes care of the "yellow-mouth" quite nicely, but I still brushed my teeth several times throughout the day.

Concerning my workout, more than anything I just felt at ease as I headed over to the flat bench; a general feeling of health or well-being. Sweating remains markedly raised - I was dripping all over the place.

There were several times throughout my workout when I felt like BW (my wife and training partner) was taking too long with her own sets - I was more than ready for my next set. So, increased intra-set recovery was apparent today.

So far, the most marked aspect of Ultima is the recovery. Energy and Nootropic boost have been mild at best. However, I have only been using 1/4 scoop pre-workout. Perhaps a higher dose would elicit a stronger effect in this regard. Either way, recovery is impressive. I don't know if it's simply the trinitine or a combination of the various formulae in Ultima, but I'm rebounding faster than normal and I have abnormlally rapid recovery as it is.

I'm growing accustomed to the taste of the sublingual powder - it's rather similar to how I'd imagine Mountain Dew Pop-rocks would taste.

Today's Workout: 24reps 6RM for Strength/ 60reps 18RM for Hypertrophy

Bench Press: 305 x5 x4 x4 x4 x4 x3
SS'd Bent BB Row: 275 x5 x5 x4 x4 x3 x3

BB Hack Squats: 205 x15 x15 x15 x12+3
SS'd Lateral Raises: 30 DBs x15 x13 x12 x11 x9

Unilateral Leg Ext: 65 x20 x18 x16 x14 x12

Unilateral Cable Tri Ext: 70 x15 x14 x13 x10 x8
SS'd Machine Preacher Curls: 95 x15 x12 x12 x11 x10

I took about a month break from benching not long ago, and in result it dropped by about 20lbs, but I'm making headway back to where it should be. 305 is a 10lb increase over last week. I'll stick with 305 until I can perform 5x5, then increase it by another 10.

Hacks were way too easy; they left my legs pumped and my heart-rate up, but I could've handled a good bit more weight - I'm thinking I'll shoot for 225 next week and see how that goes.

I cannot perform BB curls due to an old injury in my left hand - curling even an unloaded oly bar hurts both hand and wrist. So, I stick to cables, DBs and the preacher machine and haven't seemed to suffer without it.

Tomorrow's Dead Day - and I'm thinking 1/2 scoop sublingual pre-workout would be appropriate!

Just to be clear, I do switch movements in between each set; so for my bench when it says x5, it means I perform 5 straight reps before immediately switching over to BB rows. I go back and forth between movements with minimal rest.

The Gorilla thing seems to be taking off for me; several people, not just you have been calling me the Ape or something similar. You don't have much to worry about people thinking you're a racist.:)

Also, I realized I forgot to put up my sauce recipe for you man. I'll get on that!

We took some flak when BW first joined, but people have grown accustomed to us both being on here now. Plus, she knows her stuff and is darn strong too, so she's definitely proved her mettle. I mean, geez, she's a rep now!

Typically, I get on earlier in the morning, when she's still asleep. Then after she gets up, she gets on. We lift in the afternoon and she usually gets on first when we get home, then me and we alternate sporadically through the evening.

DAY 5

Ugh. Today was rough from beginning to end. I didn't sleep well, had a long work day, my eating schedule was thrown off and I was thorougly beat by the time I made it to the gym. My performance somewhat suffered in result.

ULTIMA Update: As could be expected given the circumstances, I had no energy for today's session. I felt like I was surviving off of EAAs, Coffee and Ultima. In terms of energy and focus, Ultima gave me zilch today.
That being said, I am finding it next to impossible to become sore on this stuff. Despite my fatigue, I pounded myself into the ground today and still don't really feel like I did. I have a slight tightness in my lats and a nice pump in my arms, but other than that, only my exhaustion evidences that I lifted at all today. I am sure that my accustomation to high frequency training contributes to this, but I have tried a LOT of creatine and pre-workout products and few have worked so well. In these terms, the only competition that Ultima has is Neovar - everything else is left far behind.

Today's Workout:

Deadlifts: 475 x1+1+1+1 455 x4 x4 x4 x3 x3 x1+1

Weighted Chin-ups: BW+70 x9 x8 x7 x7 x6+3
Seated Shoulder Press: 85 DBs x9 x9 x9 x9 x9

Weighted Dips: BW+70 x9 x8 x8 x7 x5 x3
Hammer Curls: 75 DBs x8 x8 x8 x8 x8

Unilateral Rotary Calves: 210 x9 x9 x9 x9 x9

For deads, I like to "overshoot" in my warmup; i.e. use a load heavier than I intend to for actual working sets. That is where the 475 comes into play. Normally, I do 1 single then reduce the weight to whatever I'm going to stick with, but today I thought I'd try a full set (clustered as you can see). It was intense. When I dropped back to 455, my hands were having grip trouble, so my reps suffered a little. Whereas last week I performed a couple sets of 5 at 455, today I topped at 4. Still, I pull 475 for 4 reps, which is an improvement.
Chins were a PR; I have never had so much weight strapped around my waist and done 9reps. Additionally, shoulder presses were a breeze, as illustrated by that fact that I hit 9reps in every set. Next week, I use 90s. :D
However, by the time I got around to dips and curls, I was deader than a zombie. I was tired when I started this workout, but by this point, I wanted to curl up under the dipping bench and nap for a couple of hours. But, now it's the weekend, I get to relax and party it up!

Anabolic Meat Sauce:
2 4oz Cans of tomato sauce
1 8oz can of stewed tomatoes
1/2 head of spinach
6 Kale leaves
1 huge Mushroom
2-3 big pinches of each Oregano, Basil, Thyme and Parsley
1lb of Ground Beef
2 cloves Garlic
1Tbsp EVOO
~1/4 C of Red Wine

Chop or crush the garlic and mix it into the beef, then brown the mix in a skillet. Meanwhile, heat the tomato sauce, tomatoes, evoo, mushroom (chopped), spinach and kale in a sauce pan on medium heat. As the spinach and kale cook, they shrink a lot so don't worry about their initial volume. Let simmer for ~10mins. When the meat and garlic is thoroughly cooked, transfer it over into the sauce and stir well. Throw in approx. 1/4 cup red wine, then stir in the spices. Let simmer another 5-10mins and enjoy.

The wine makes a huge difference in flavor, and a large portion of the alcohol cooks off. Just bear in mind that the quality of wine you use impacts the final taste of the sauce. If you use the gallon box wine from the corner mart, it just won't be as good as if you used a nicer vintage.

Also, along an entirely different line of thought: any of you guys ever hear of Traeger Grills? It's a covection bbq that uses wood pellets. Makes THE best ribs and tri-tip I have ever had period.

Try 8x8 or 10x10 and that might help you get some serious DOMS. Thursday's workout left me with some serious DOMS, although my poor sleep may have just led to improper recovery and DOMS. A.k.a. I should stop posting and get to bed and catch up on my sleep lol. Nice improvements though and keep bumping it up

PS I Love the recipe change-of-pace lol. Your Traeger Grills made me crave some bison steaks, need to get my hands on a BBQ again.

You know, I've been considering a return to a higher volume scheme like your suggestions - set my lower rep training aside for a bit and just focus on hypertrophic ranges. Maybe the routine after my current one - it would coordinate well into my schedule, I believe.

I've been using routines similar to my current one for a while and usually they leave me quite sore, but it subsides quickly. On Ultima now, though, it's not so much soreness that occurs, as it is just stiffness instead.

Yeah, when guys ask how often I train "X bodypart", I get a real kick out of telling them, "At least 4." I've always preferred full body routines; however, I do feel like my current routine needs a little consolidation. I'll be working the kinks out as time progresses.

I spoke a bit too soon about lack of soreness yesterday - the DOMS found me in my sleep.:ugh1: Mainly shoulders, forearms and lats.

Geesh!! Iron Chef! It sounds great, you really don't play around when it comes to cooking.
I eat for results! That sauce packs a humongous amount of nutritional wallop between all the spices (oregano alone is supposedly a superfood), the garlic and the kale (which has one of the highest vitamin to calorie ratios of any food).

I think a lot of guys overlook spices and the benefits they can provide if used frequently. They don't just make food taste good, they're awesome for micronutrients and antioxidants!

My meals are typically designed more for utility, but as time has gone on, I've figured out more and more how to make them both nutritionally functional and pretty enjoyable.

Gets Chef Snag's seal of approval.. :bandit:
Great! I like to throw recipes up now and then, just to share with everyone exactly what I'm eating. It's good to know I'm doing something right. :D

Weekend Update:
Considering I don't lift either Saturday or Sunday, Ultima has remained on the shelf for the past couple of days. As I've mentioned before, so far, it's impact upon recovery has been it's most apparent attribute. In that regard, I've been comparing it to other creatine products; however, Ultima claims to be more than just a creatine - it is a full pre-workout cocktail designed to enhance performance, not just ease recovery.

So, my thinking is that the low pre-workout doses (1/4scoop) I have been taking are too blame and, subsequently, I'm bumping those waaayyyy up this week. I'll begin with a 1/2 scoop sublingually tomorrow and progress from there. I'd eventually like to try a full scoop sublingually (1/4 scoop at a time, though) and see how that fares.

Ultima's just too darn loaded with nootropics and B vitamins for me to believe that it won't affect my energy levels.

Other Updates:
In addition to upping my Ultima, the following changes begin tomorrow:

I will be using 1scoop of Intra-Aid over the course of my workouts, in addition to my usual BCAAs. I've used Intra-Aid on several occasions before and know that it will not interfere with my evaluation of Ultima.

BW gave me a bottle of X-Force; 1 cap will replace my morning cup of coffee - that's early enough that is should not impact my workouts.

I am going to crank up the fat-loss this week, and for the remainder of the log! I will lift 3 days a week, following the same full body routines, and perform 60+ mins of cardio another 3days per week, on recovery days. Lifting days will be high cal/ high carb; recovery days low cal/ low carb. I am still using the same I.F. protocol.

DAY 8

ULTIMA Update:
Well, it seems dtrain hit the nail on the head - 1/2 scoop sublingual pre-workout was much stronger and more noticeable than 1/4 scoop. I included another 1/2 scoop intra-workout, which coincides very well with the flavor of the Citrus Intra-Aid. It also makes my intra-workout shake more satisfying, as if it is better quenching my thirst. You know that feeling when you're dying for water and that first drink you get is downright godly - that's what this was reminiscent of.

However, it was the pre-workout dose in which I noticed the biggest difference. I was very eager - I very much wanted to be lifting, to the point where I was actually swearing at traffic (I don't swear much) on the road to the gym. There was nothing like the energized feeling with a stimulant; more of an aggression: a charging bull, head down bellowing "get the f*** out of my way."

I wasn't angry though, just very aggressive towards the weights and self-determined to push hard.

At this point, I am really hoping Ultima continues to deliver as it did with today's workout. Today very much set itself apart from the other training sessions while on Ultima - if such performance as I had today becomes the standard, Ultima has a good chance of becoming a top pre-workout choice in my house.

Today's Workout: 24reps Strength/ 50reps Hypertrophy

Squats: 365 x5 x4 x4 x3 x3 x3 x1 x1
Unilateral Cable Rows: 90 x12 x12 x12 x12

Incline DB Press: 85 x12 x11 x10 x9 x6
Unilateral Cable Curls: 80 x12 x12 x9 x9 x8

Narrow, Reverse-Grip Military: 120 x12 x12 x12 x12
Jump Squats: BW 4x20

My legs were a little stiff in the first two sets of Squats, so a couple of my reps weren't quite as ATG as I would've liked. Still, all reps were at least to parallel and I was able to do a set of 5, which is progress.

My pushing movements were changed out from last week; instead of decline narrow-grip bench and push-ups, I opted for one horizontal press and one vertical. I will do this each workout, and switch which has a narrow and which has a wide-grip with each workout.

For those incline db press, I had intended to go with the 90s, but they were taken, and in the end, I felt that I still had a fine workout with the 85s. Perhaps next week I'll bump up to the 90s.

Changing subjects, today seemed to be "lift-too-heavy-with-painfully-bad-form" day. There was a guy "benching" 475 for sets of 6 and the bar was hitting his chest so hard I couldn't watch him - I could almost hear the ribs shattering and lungs deflating. There was another guy leg-pressing with as many plates as the machine would hold and he would pretty much "twitch" the load up and down. No more than a few inches of movement. Absolutely ridiculous. Meanwhile, I'm squatting and telling myself that everytime my hammies fail to touch my calves I take one step closer to being a woman... sigh...

Glad it worked out for you. ULTIMA is a product that we can provide a basic dosage guideline for but its very user dependent.

Just a random Off Day Update.

Took a long walk through the vineyards this morning with BW, it was very nice. More of a hike, actually, considering the terrain we were in. Spring is very pretty is Southern California.

Did not use Ultima today, though I have been considering the incorporation of a partial scoop into my off-day regimen. I have never used a creatine on off days unless I was logging it and specifically asked to; however, if at some point I find recovery to be lacking, boosting Ultima's frequency will be one of the first steps I take. So far, though, recovery has been superior with only lifting day dosing.

I'm enjoying some other aspects of my supplementation very much, but I'm reticent to get into too much detail as this log is not for those products. I'll keep it short: I can see why BW loves X-Force so darn much and X-Dream dosed sublingually is a trip that everybody needs to try.

I've been telling people this since day 1... no one listens to Iron.

I've found that using Ultima daily (OFF days as well), I may have built a tolerance up to it. I now need a bit more. I have taken the past 2 days off from using it to access if it indeed needs to be cut back permanently.

Well, we listened, and it was very nice - downright euphoric in feeling.

Thanks for the heads up on Ultima. I'll stick with lifting day's only!

What is EVOO?

What do you think about alternating ground turkey for the beef?

With the red wine, what's the best bang for your buck in your opinion?

...Just don't take it without an adult around!
You know what disappointed me about the G.I. Joe's when I was young? One of my favorite all time characters was The Fridge, he was the strongest and coolest temporary Joe, then I saw Refrigerator Perry in a non-cartoon fashion on TV and he was a complete fat @$$.

EVOO is extra virgin olive oil. a great source of monounsaturated fat (read the label), so all around great for bodybuilding. canola oil is good too.

The turkey is fine - I've used it plenty of times when beef is too pricey.

As for the wine, everybody's taste is different, and I'm anything but a connoisseur; I just know what I like. For most general purposes I like Yellowtail Cabernet Sauvignon and Barefoot Merlot. YT is Australian and quite tasty for it's $5-10 pricetag. Barefoot is a local winery here in Temecula and their bottles range from $13-30; I've never had one from them that I didn't like.

Of course, for special occasions (not for cooking!) there's always Cakebread Pinot Noir.

No clue who that is, sorry. I liked GI Joe mainly because I had ALL the toys to go along with the show. That, and my dad and I would get up early every Saturday morning to watch it together and eat french toast or waffles. Then we'd watch the Tick, which I love to this day!

mmm. cakebread is really good. their chardonnay is great as well. i've been really impressed with caymus conundrum for a great white wine at 25 bucks or so. at one point in my life, i was spending around 200 bucks per week on wine, and that only got me 1-2 bottles. being sober is so much cheaper :)
