Day 6: Tuesday, April 1
Weight: 193.8 (+5.4)
Workout #2 - B1
DB curls: 2 warm-ups @ 20x18, 30x12
Working set with rest-pauses: 50x8 +5 +6
I found I was able to dig deeper than I thought I'd be able to after that second rest-pause and push out 6 reps. I can definitely attribute that to the anabolics. 50#'s felt pretty heavy though.
Reverse BB curls: 2 warm-ups @ 45x15, 55x12
Working set with rest-pauses: 85x7
No rest-pauses on forearms. I would have to say that after having done the BB work on them yesterday, my forearms were toast after these. Just like on the curls, 85#'s felt heavy.
Sled toe press: 2 warm-ups @ 360x25, 540x15
Working set with rest-pauses: 720x12 +8 +7
I was actually only going to do my working set @ 630, but after hitting those 2 warm-up sets I didn't feel like that would be enough weight, so I kicked it up to 720. My calves can handle that weight just fine, but while under that much weight I could tell that the rest of my legs are gonna need some strengthening up (see Hamstrings curls).
Hamstring curls: 2 warm ups @ 40x18, 50x12
Working set with rest-pauses: 70x10 +5 +4
Yikes. I will be honest. I haven't been keeping up with hamstring work. I know, I know. For those who weren't aware, I ruptured my left hamstring in the fall. My left hammy was definitely my weakness on these, and I'm gonna have to work hard to get it back up to par. I was doing 120# ~8x prior to my accident, so ideally I'd like to be back up around those numbers.
Power squat: 2 warm-ups @ 180x18, 270x12
Working set: 450x12 (WTF?!)
Widowmaker: 360x20
No rest-pauses for quads, instead I am performing one heavy working set, followed by widowmakers for all squat exercises. Last time I did this exercise I went up to 450, but only pushed out like 6 reps or so, then did a widowmaker @ 270. When I first got under 450 today it felt pretty heavy, but I just kept on pushing out reps. I couldn't believe it when I got to 12. I was initially planning to do my widowmaker @ 270#, but after pushing 450 for 12 reps I felt compelled to push more weight and settled for a widowmaker @ 360. By the time I got to 12 I was hurting. By 15 I was light-headed. By 18 I wanted to stop. And if I wasn't sweating before this set, this is what did it. After 20 I walked away from the machine pouring sweat, absolutely drenched.
Notes:
I felt lazy all day. Don't wanna say lethargic, cuz I don't think that's the case, but it's been overcast and raining and dreary, and I just haven't had much energy. Slept 10 hours last night, so I was well rested, I just didn't have much desire to do anything productive.
None the less, today was another good gym session. I was worried going in that I wouldn't be able to do squats cuz of my knee, but it proved to be a non-issue. I'm looking forward to taking the day off tomorrow. I may try to get in for some cardio & core, but I'm feeling pretty beat up, so we'll have to see how I feel tomorrow.
I weighed myself before the gym, and I was 199.0. I still have one more meal tonight and a protein shake before bed, so I won't be surprised if I go to sleep >200 (which would be the first time I ever reach that number). I also wouldn't be surprised if I wake up @ ~195 tomorrow, which would put me a mere 5#'s out from my goal... (I record my weight first thing in the morning, butt ass nekkid, fully purged.) This is pretty scary. 5.4#'s in 6 days. Doesn't look like I'm putting on bf either, in fact it looks as if I'm leaning out a bit too. Top two abs are more visible. Bottom abs are still in hiding, but hey, I've been bulking for 7 months straight. Arms are beginning to show more size and definition, and I noticed increased vascularity at the gym tonight. I still feel thicker and fuller. We'll have to see how the strength gains keep up, but so far this stack is treating me very well.
