THUNDERGOD ROLLS OUT A RECOMP..........REALLY!! (sponsored)

Back From The Dead!! Lol

My sincerest apologies to all my readers and supporters for not coming back yesterday and logging my workout numbers. They were WAY off!! The spirit (thundergod) was indeed willing, but the flesh (Jeff) was decidedly weak. I plodded on through my workout like a stubborn dinosaur, but it was probably not the wisest choice.

I threw up twice before the workout and then once again violently after the session. Dry heaving and all dat shit! It was awful. I've never had sickness come over me so swiftly before. It was almost instantaneous. Friday night at work I felt a little hot and just slightly queezy. But by Saturday morning I knew something was terribly askew.

So after my less than stellar workout and puke-fest, I decided to lie down for a while. That turned into all day! I was truly sick and I knew it.

I called in sick to work last night. First time in 17 months!! My boss was totally surprised. But understanding of course.

So.....I'm feeling about 80 to 85% this morning. Which is good considering how bad I felt yesterday. I have kept my breakfast down so far. I am going to hit up HIIT cardio here in a few and get this thing back on track.

Mulletsoldier, I apologize for the temporary setback bro. I did not take my afternoon round of supplements as I knew they would not stay down!!

But all is well now, and I'm ready to finish this thing strong.

Once again I've learned that "that which does not kill us, only makes us stronger"!! :bb3:

I told ya that shit would keep even a God down! Just take it slow getting back into the daily grind bro, might have to change your eating habits for today a bit.
On the plus side: first time in 17 months! Can't complain about that.. always gotta look at the bright side eh?

You don't have to apologize to me, TG. You are not obligated in any way!
Oh yes I do! And yes I am! Don't let up on me. I don't need that. I need someone to light that fire under my arse. I don't want empathy nor sympathy. I want to be an example to all of my readers. Winners never quit and quitters never win. All or nothing. Go hard or go home.

We need more positive role models in this world. Especially now. Apathy is rampant everywhere I look. Weakness and laziness abounds. No one looks up to weak or lazy people. :nono:

I am determined to forge on ahead. Monsters, giants, and demons be damned!!! :hammer:

The worse part of all of it is the lack of nutrition in me at the moment. I couldn't keep anything down yesterday at all. By 10:00 P.M. last night I finally kept a bowl of cereal down. That's not much nutrients for a big boy like myself.
Today I have kept 2 meals down already. The "out-house trots" as my dad called them are still with me though. But everything is improving at a very rapid pace IMO.

HIIT cardio was just a little rough this morning. I sweated more than usual. My core body temp was elevated. Breathing was harder. Still the virus is trying to hold me down. It shall not!!!

I hope to break my own record of 17 months with no missed workouts or missed days at work. Only the strong shall survive!!!

Well, then get ****ing moving! I expect 5 Natural PRs within the next week, whether reps and/or weight!
Now that's more like it!!! I shall give it my all!!

Competitors take bad breaks and use them to drive themselves just that much harder!! Would this apply to you TG??

Hey, feel better there TG... Even gods take the day off.

How the f*ck do you think I got robbed? Normally that would have called for a thunderbolt.

Those scumbags are gonna get their lightening bolts. Believe me!!

I'm sure you know the answer to this one. I'm a total head-case. Always have been. I hate for things to defy me. And when my mortal shell refused to comply, that shit made me mad. Real mad!! I will punish this mud-man or "human-host" severely for its insubordination!!
I'm coming back with a frightening vengeance!! :smite:

I was listening to this in the truck at work last night. I felt so good to be recovering from the sickness of the day before. I was singing this to the top of my lungs!!

I'M STILL ALIVE!!!!! :head::head:

I know when I get sick, it's carbs for me... I crave them and need them it seems. Then I sleep for about 20 out of 24 hours. Just when I am just about well again I do some heavy cardio and sweat the rest out. Of course plenty of liquids and extra vitamins.

Welcome back big man!!

I AM BACK!! :hammer: Evil-doers beware!!! :smite:

:insert girl's voice from Poltergeist II: "He's baaa-aaack!!"

Good to see ya recovered my man. BTW - 'Alive' is a good jam (that whole first album by Pearl Jam was a classic), but you ever listen to the words & hear what that song is about? Those guys sang about some weird stuff..

The song is the first piece to a trilogy of songs unofficially called "Mamasan". It comprises the songs "Alive", "Once", and "Footsteps". "Alive" tells the story of a young man discovering that his father is actually his stepfather, while his mother’s grief leads to an incestual relationship with the son, who strongly resembles the biological father. This leads to "Once" in which the man descends into madness and goes on a killing spree, and "Footsteps" in which the man is eventually looking back from a prison cell awaiting his execution. (......)

It has been revealed by Vedder to be part autobiographical and part fiction. When Vedder was a teenager, his mother revealed to him that the man he thought was his father was actually his stepfather, and that his biological father was dead. The first and last verses detail the actual events described above, but the second verse is storytelling on Vedder's part. The lyrics read, "Oh, she walks slowly, across a young man's room/She said I'm ready...for you/I can't remember anything to this very day/'Cept the look, the look.../Oh, you know where, now I can't see, I just stare...," and Vedder revealed that "she" was the mother, and "the look" referred to was not the look on her face, but "the look is between her legs. Where do you go with that? That's where you came from."

Rather than being the inspirational song most interpret it as, Vedder had quite a different meaning in mind, stating, "[He's] still dealing with love, [he's] still dealing with the death of [his] father. All [he] knows is "I'm still alive"...that's totally out of burden." Vedder stated at Pearl Jam's 2006 VH1 Storytellers appearance that over the years the meaning has changed for him. He said, "In the original story, a teenager is being made aware of a shocking truth that leaves him plenty confused...It was a curse--"I'm still alive."" The audience's response to the song is what has brought about the change in meaning for Vedder. He added, "They lifted the curse. The audience changed the meaning for me."

I just read throught the "fudging numbers thread" in the anonymous section. I love the fact nobody ever calls out ThunderGod. You push some crazy weights and I don't believe that there is an ounce of imbelishment at all. You are a hell of an inspiration to all of us and glad you are feeling better!

Thats just crazy man , I have heard that song millions of times and never knew that. I just listened to it again and now I know! Good info snag:thumbsup:

Awesome numbers TG, no one would call you out anyway, incase you found us, scary.
That was a mean session after being ill TG, hope your feeling better now, remember your going to get cut to the extreme, you must never give in to illness, as you carry forth to achieve your goals, like an ancient warrior advancing forth, despite inumerable odds against him, you overcame sickness and crushed it like a sicillian grape in a wine press....Ooops sorry, dont know what came over me.

I couldn't help but let out a good laugh when I saw this...you kill me TG!

Glad you're back back and feeling better big homie!

and YES, the numbers look impressive!

Lookin goo TG!

Side note: Some kid at the gym the other day (probably weighed 165-170 lbs) inclined 385 for 7 reps. I was speechless.

Were they real, full reps? or baby twitches with a fake little bend at the elbow then back to full extension as I so often see with "strong" high school kids.

If they were real reps, then shite, I've never seen anything like that!!! I've seen little guys O.Lift two and a half times their weight, but not legitimately rep.

how far is a little bend? I stop 2 inches off my chest on inclines...hopefully thats not considered a full rep (also incorporating static holds)

A little bend is stopping 6 inches above your head on the incline (which I see far too often). If you don't AT LEAST make parallel with your eyes, its questionable :nono:

2 inches off the chest is pretty good. That's well in the legitimate category

Alright... glad to know i got volcom's approval

you're the reason I am doing it like that. And you haven't even been to my log to check out my strength increases since implementing it! :nutkick:

Eesh, sorry TL! I will check now. I personally find expedited LBM gains when utilizing that approach with controlled eccentric and explosive concentric portions of the lift!

Yup! I can back that up mullet! I plan to cycle between this style, DC (once I learn about it better), and supersets. these are the best routines for my body in terms of Lean and quick gains. I sometimes mix and match with the static hold/supersets...it produces great results

Sorry for the hijack TG your welcome to do it in my log :D

In my opinion, unless you're @ 6'5'' or taller and/or just have really long arms, you should have the bar touching the chest at the bottom of every rep on Incline and Flat Barbell Presses. You adjust the grip width to find your comfort spot where you can bring it down all the way - although it's possible with any of the grip widths - so there's really no excuse for not going all the way down. [Like I said, this is my opinion..]

.. and Mullet, if it's a controlled movement, there is no bouncing on the bottom if you go that low. Having the barbell touch the top of your pecs, however, isn't a bad thing ..

In a bench press competition the bar will touch the persons chest for it to count.

That being said, I don't think that it really matters if the bar touches the chest or stops right above it. I know my elbows really don't like that last inch or so, maybe my grip isn't wide enough, but it is where I feel I can press the hardest.

And, just to play devil's advocate for mullet's reasoning... I think that deep in the set (towards 8-10 reps) if you go for that many, the control starts to go and there is a little bounce in A LOT of people's (not directed at vikinginc) bench. stopping the weight slightly above the chest makes this impossible even in the slightest.

I hear what your saying but when i do inclines with the barbell i have to stop about 1-2 inches above my chest or my shoulders feel like they will dislocate!

Agreed. I do a controlled motion, always touch the chest. Whether I'm pausing with a slow concentric, or using a controlled eccentric w/ explosive concentric, doesn't matter. I never bounce..
Like Hman says tho, I think in some cases it's based on what your physiology will allow you to do. Lotta ppl have joint flexion issues.. I've seen your behind-neck military presses Thomas, and you go way down to the nape of the neck, as do I. But there are comparatively few ppl who can do this motion without feeling the stress in their shoulders.
I guess we're lucky that way!

Bar should come down to touch the chest with control. I adjust my grip width to ease any discomfort probs. It makes you open your chest up more.

Agreed, bro. My exact thoughts!

Board presses are usually to work on a weak area of your lift.

I think the bigger issue in the bench movement is locking out the elbows at the top of the concentric. I would never not come down to bar touching chest; however, I will vary the top portion dependant upon my schematic. There are certain times where I do not want to even come close to locking out, concentrating more on total TUT with constant movement.. In a DC-format of course, you need to lock out for your rest-pause and catch a lil breather..
