Volcom's; Southern California experiences White Flooding

God dayummm, Volcom !!! I guess we won't be 'seeing' much of you tonight, then ?! My forarms would be cramping !! Good luck brushing your teeth and shaving ! I've got to try out something hardcore like that, too, man !

Hahaha, yes, something early-90s hong kong cop look indeed. We all forget about it once in a while; I myself, grow a mullet (unintentionally) when I forget to get a haircut.

I'm alright. My forearms have been conditioned for brutality over the years. In the beginning, when I first started prioritizing forearm workouts, I would spasm all the time. In the shower, reaching for my seat belt, taking breaks to brush my teeth....etc., but now a days, my forearms can handle the punishment pretty well.

I don't know about you guys, but having a serious, long term girlfriend makes me upkeep less. The goal is to look "socially presentable" when I go out now-a-days, but not so much, so fresh and so clean. However, I didn't realize how much I had the Chow Yun Phat in Hardboiled haircut until I saw those pics, so I was like, "time to get a haircut"

Hilarious bro..

Nice forearm blitz for sure. Might have to bust me out something like that - it's the one part of my body I can hit hard right now! Be running around looking like Popeye..

Blitz those forearms and it'll add to your Lee Priest persona

Whew, God save your forearms!!! haha crazy workout

I just realized I hadn't mentioned the White Flood, which has sort of been lost in the frenzy of enthusiastic vid and pic postings.

I've been on White Flood for 3 weeks [now]? I think I'm breaching my 4th week. For the record people, I bought the small tub, so I'm sort of surprised with the longevity of this little thing [CLabs sells a much larger tub of White Flood].

I've been finding it difficult to write something "new" about my White Flood experience, solely due to the fact that I've been on it for an extended duration and my scrutiny was originally, solely based on its performance enhancement aspects, therefore, I'm not keeping note of strength gains or increased muscle endurance.

Therefore, tonight, I'm going to give my workout partner, Zack, a water bottle with 2 or 3 scoops of White Flood and keep track of his impressions. This way, I may be able to inscribe something new and fresh about the WF.

This morning I weighed in at 213lbs, which is mostly likely what I weighed in my vids and pics. That's an accidental loss of 5lbs in 3 weeks, that makes me happy.

5 lbs nice!! Have you posted that vid before? I remember seeing it recently - and liking it! :D

Actually, yes, this fight scene used to be my Avi. Gold membership priviledges. Big pimp'n spend'n G's on AM. I've probably spent G's on supps due to this board, so that's not as much of a joke as I thought.

that video was a great start to my day. are those doods really moving that fast? or is that just a little bit of special effects?

thats a great scene. I enjoyed all of his older works, The Legend, once upon a time in china (all of them) etc. Jet li is a real master, and a great person to boot

Chow yun fat was pretty comical in his earliest roles, most of them were pretty clownish, like when he was in his early 20s.

Ahh, this is good stuff man. I'm subbed.

You know - there are two very good 'fast food' chains in Manhattan that cater to bodybuilders and fit Americans.... Decent food, and great quality nutrient splits.

The powder coming off their hands are unnatural, but they're moving at natural speed. Jet Li was raised in a Shaolin Temple until he was 17 or something.

log question: i know these are both pretty unique supplements, but how do you compare white flood to rpm, in terms of your gym experience? pump, energy, focus, strength, and endurance?

He was the world wushu champion at 11....

Yeah, Jet Li is for real.

I guess in some Chinese Theaters, when Jet Li and Jackie Chan had their first fight scene in Forbidden Kingdom, everyone applauded and went crazy. Those two are legends. Jackie has a pile of Drunken Fighter this & that movies, but I think my favorite Jackie Classic is Meals on Wheels, with Yuen Biao (SP?) and was that fat guy in it too? I forget, Sammo Hung?

I'll send you a PM. I openly love both of them, (long time fan of AppNut and a new fan of Controlled Labs) so I like to keep it openly respectful. I'll PM you in a bit. I've had a couple people ask me that.

interesting, I dont recall that movie at all, but happened to find a copy available. i'll watch it later today :D

Very nice. It has the infamous scene where Jackie and the antagonist get into a real fight. Reports are, they broke away from the choreography, but amidst the confusion, they continued to film and it turned out to be one of those legendary Jackie movie moments. The antagonist was a Martial Arts champion of some form, and apparently, he threw a real punch and it connected, and rather then cutting, Jackie threw one back and connected.

I don't believe they completely broke away from choreography, but they were really trying to make contact. The antagonist looks like a half vietnamese/half caucasian and I think the scene is in an underground factory.

3 words. read, replied, repped. well tried to rep. i have to spread some out before i can give it to you again. no homo.

I noticed your sig. My sister graduated with an engineering degree from UCBerkley, she's mad smart. Two of my friends are civil engineers (from Poly Pomona; one is this roided out Taliban look'n dude, but a freak genius) and my uncle's a successful international telephone engineer. Engineer's are mad smart, tough, tough degree too. The only thing my roided out Taliban look'n friend does is study and eat cans of tuna in between.

haha. i just recently switched back to engineering. started as mechanical, then switched to kines for exercise science to eventually go into PT, and i switched to electrical this last spring. and i imagine once the engineering classes start, thats what ill be doing too. cept it will be beef, turkey, or salmon jerky instead.

Testosterone!

Lets talk basic endocrinology. As we all know, resistance training stimulates our bodies to release both testosterone and growth hormone. These are not the only two hormones that are released via resistance training, but for the sake of this topic, they are the only two I'll be addressing. As we also know, compound exercises release a greater amount of both of these hormones, in comparison to isolated movements. All exercises are not created equal in the world of the endocrine system. With knowing that compound exercises are the greatest triggers for the release of both testosterone and growth hormone, we can get even more specific. This will be review for some, informational for others. High intensity lifts, heavy, heavy weight, low reps, perpetuates a GREATER release of testosterone, then growth hormone and moderate weight, higher reps, perpetuates a greater release of growth hormone, as oppose to testosterone. Neither are exclusive, but one is emphasized, (this is true in principle for many aspects of the body). Therefore, heavy squats or heavy deads would be the most testosterone'fying exercises (and the opposite would be true for growth hormone if volume was emphasized over intensity).

Today's workout was based around the release and circulation of the most testosterone as possible. I picked the exercises that release the most test and hit it in a way to optimize that release. It was a Testosterone Release Party. I trained more like a strength athlete (keeping my reps around the 5 rep range)then a bodybuilder today, but it was with intent.

Compound Country Today

Dead Lifts
135lbs x 10
225lbs x 5 reps
315lbs x 5 reps
405lbs x 5 reps
425lbs x 5 reps

Bench Press
135lbs x 10 reps
225lbs x 5 reps
285lbs x 5 reps
315lbs x 5 reps
325lbs x 5 reps

Military Press
135lbs x 10 reps
185lbs x 5 reps
205lbs x 5 reps
225lbs x 5 reps

Squats
185lbs x 10 reps
225lbs x 5 reps
245lbs x 5 reps (felt my lower back pinge and I knew I shouldn't push it any further)

"Squats last?!?! Are you retarded or just ugly? You don't put The King last." I know, I left squats last on purpose because I didn't think my lower back would be able to handle both Deads and Squats on the same day and mentally, its easier to not be able to complete a goal at the end of the workout, then the beginning. It keeps my spirits up when everything is going my way in the beginning and the middle.

Needless to say I was done.

I wasn't able to meet my workout partner, so nothing new and exciting to report about the White Flood. However, I will mention that the recovery aspect is still notable and impressive.

I love this sh1t! Very detailed and informative man! I love low reps!!

Thanks, DOMS isn't expected because I didn't hammer each muscle group with enough volume, but the plan was to shock the over-all system with a total body, in conjunction with a testosterone release party. :djparty:

That's one kick ass workout there Volc. Impressive weights there on the bench. 325 for 5 reps is pretty beastly especially at your bodyweight and most certainly after having already drained yourself with deadlifts. Very impressive. Nice way to mix things up. Nice to see your strength shooting back up on your deads too!

Thanks, my deads are coming back slowly but surely. I felt less tightness in my lumbar this time then the last, so my back is getting its stability back.

I went to La Verne today, good old stomping grounds. I prefer Upland, but its a further drive.
la verne was where i started my journey. im thinking of heading to kings actually when they finally finish their new building and get moved in.

btw, did you go to HS around this area?

8:54 p.m. About 3 hours past the completion of my workout. I'm unexplainably and delariously tired. I'm sitting here watching the Olympics on my couch, dripping sweat down my forehead and collecting perspiration around my neck. I must have created some serious oxygen debt.

My @$$ is officially kicked....

To my pleasured surprise, I have some DOMS in my traps, rhomboids, the upper portion of my lats, and lower back. I LOVE traps DOMS. Nothing gets my upper back/traps like Deads. Gawd I love Deads.

Also, this morning I got an internship at a Chiropractors Office (with a Physical Therapist and Endocrinologist). This takes TONS of stress off my shoulders. This was my biggest stressor coming into my final semester, so I'm thrilled.

My original place of internship was going to be velocity sports;
Invalid Link Removed

But they're sought after by all the surrounding colleges. You need a resume, a 3.0 gpa and three letters of recommendations from professors. I never got my 3 recommendation letters. This is the part that sucks about living 40 miles away from the campus and having to work full time on top of school. It's hard to find extracurricular time to stay on campus for stuff like chasing down 3 professors for letters of recommendations. Apparently, the proper way to get a letter is to have a sit down in person, so no e-mail requests and my real life schedule just didn't allow that.

Either way, I'm still thrilled about my current internship. If push came to shove, I was going to hit up L.A. Fitness, but come on, you don't need a degree to work at a gym, not to mention I have a CSCS. It'd be like a fully credentialed teacher trying to student teach.

Get off AM and go get those recommendations!!!!

yeah dont work at la fitness. from what ive seen/heard, trainers get kinda screwed there. thats the impression while i worked there at least.

Get off AM and go get those recommendations!!!!

I'm at work bud, can't you tell I'm working.

I'm a full time paralegal for a civil law firm. Which is why I can check my AM so often, I have my own computer here, so i just leave the link open and minimize and maximize between duties. I'll most likely be making less, doing what I'll end up doing with my degree, then what I'm doing now, but I'll be loving what I do, so....

Back to work! I have to complete these FORM INTERROGATORIES. We're suing Ontario Mills, Rolanda can appreciate that.

haha same here man. I have a desk job doing Accident analysis reports which is funded by lawyers..hehe

If they only new what I was really doing with most my time. Im gonna shoot you a pm btw Volcom I was looking for some input on something.
