Volcom's; Southern California experiences White Flooding

haha i hate ontario mills. im all about victoria gardens. lucilles. makes it worth the 15 or so mile trip out there.

I used to drive out to Victoria Gardens and study for my Anatomy Exams at the Starbucks in front of the parking structure. Why drive out that far just to study? Because I'd have to study on Friday nights or Monday exams and if I studied somewhere cool, then it felt less lame that I was studying on a Friday night.
 
so far i'm about 15 minutes in, just past the first fight scene, after the skateboarding. some good comedy so far. I dont think I ever saw jackie on a skateboard before, but damn he's smooth if that isn't a double and I doubt it is knowing him. Time consuming to watch cause of the subtitles tho :) I cant do anything else at the same time
 
I've never done a full blown Test Attack routine like I did yesterday, hitting heavy, heavy Deads, Bench, Military and Squats, all in the same workout. I really enjoyed it. Its a new venue for me to explore. I enjoyed lifting like a strength athlete, as oppose to a bodybuilder, just as a change of pace.

I think I will play around with more total body, compound Testosterone Release Party type workouts.

Controlled Lab's new Blue Gene has caught my attention and it may be the perfect supplement, to supplement a new strength program.

I've been lifting in a zone most suited for hypertrophy all summer and I think it may be time to switch back to strength [which will up my base when I go back to higher volume]

Haha, I know. These older films aren't dubbed. I'm pretty sure it was Jackie doing the skateboard stunts. He loves to pride himself in not using a double (perhaps not as much these days), but back then he couldn't get medical insurance because everyone knew he did his own stunts.

Saw this comin a mile away. I think its a great idea. Not gonna lie, after that post yesterday i thought the same thing, since Ive lowered my reps to 6-8 range. Lets have a Testerosterone Party!!!! (no homo)
 
Is it gay to do Smith Bench Press when you don't have a workout partner? Pushing 3+ plates on the Smith seems like a gay thing to vid. What do you guys think?

Have you thought about using the squat cage and setting the bars to as close as you can get to the height of your chest? I've done that before

I don't care what people think "at the gym" but if I were to post a heavy bench vid here, I don't ever see it done on Smith.
 
:) well, if you were trapped on a desert island, and that was the only piece of equipment you had...

really its not that bad to use once in a while, just not a great choice for a staple item in your workout routine unless you have some sort of disability / physical problem where the limited use of stabilizers is valuable.

Thomas's little smith squat video inspired me the other day, as I actually had never really done squats on a smith rack with a bench below like that. So I loaded up 4 plates on each side and went to work. GOOD STUFF. I am really feeling it today, legs are one area I had kind of been half-assing lately, since I was prioritizing my back / deads, but it was good to get some heavy leg work in and I think smith machines deff have their uses for squats. Props to Nor for posting up that vid. I am working on getting one up soon.
 
I've been smithing on cycle to take care of my left shoulder... Just trying to be careful with the heavy sh*t... but I miss barbells.
 
Damn I use smith machine allll the time. I had no idea you guys thought it was so gay. But like you said Timber for safety reasons I use it. I love doing medium incline presses wide grip and blastn the fck outa my chest. Guess Im totally gay

You guys crack me up.

I cycle between Free and Smith. If I'm hitting chest by myself, I'll use Smith most of the time. I'll do Db's solo, but not bench. I always push it to muscle failure, so free bench by myself isn't the safest route.

We weren't really saying using the Smith was gay, the question was, is it gay to post a Smith Bench Video. It was kind of a joke, but then the Smith-O-Phoebes came out the wood works and it was just funny to go with it.

You can't realistically go heavy, heavy weights solo on vulnerable exercises like flat or incline too often. Especially if there's no one around to ask for a spot. Thats why i thought it was ballzy when Nor posted his solo PR bench, haha. Damn Vikings.

In case you guys dont know how to convert Kgs to Lbs. Multiply kg's x 2.2, so 400 kg is 400 x 2.2 and you'll get the Lbs equivalent.

A Little Education

I just got done PM'ing a buddy of mine, and I realized my response to his PM makes for good, general information, and will restore some respect to my log, hehe.

CREATINE

Creatine, in molecular principle, is primarily about strength. I'll briefly explain the principle behind creatine's effects and with the principle in mind, you'll be able to better choose the different creatine's out there.

ATP, Adenosinetriphosphate. One adenine, three phosphates. When you forcefully contract a muscle, a phosphate breaks off the 1-adenine, 3-phosphate branch, think of a road flare cracking in half and the ATP now becomes ADP, Adenoshine Diphosphate, one adenine, two phosphates. ADP and AMP are used by the body for moderate and low energy movements. You need a complete ATP, to "forcefully" contract. More ATP is created through Glycolysis; Kreb Cycle, Electron Chain Transport, so ATP gets drained and you can no longer forcefully contract once ATP has been depleted.

Creatine, is a phosphate. When you ingest creatine, you have a bunch of Creatine Phosphates floating around the blood. When you forcefully contract, ATP breaks down to ADP, and rather then waiting for the body through the different systems I named above, to create more ATP, the creatine phosphate in the blood gives up its phosphate, and immediately the ADP is recharged to an ATP, which carries peak strength a few extra seconds.

Therefore, creatine in principle, is about strength performance, and muscle is a consequence of the strength, its not "primarily" a muscle builder like protein.

All Mono Creatine are generally created equal. What you may want to look for in a "superior creatine" are any special transport, absorption or synergy faculties, which [supplement] seems to offer.

You might have already known all this and I don't mean to come off like a know-it-all, but I like to explain principles, because that can usually clarify a lot, and knowing is half the battle.
