TRUTH ABOUT XTEND'S NEW FORMULA

There used to be a time when I was riding on the XTEND TRAIN, and loving every minute of it. Then they decided to take it into the "LAB" and hack all of the great taste, and goodness out of the product. And replace it WITH FLAVORED SALTY BATH WATER.. No literally check the ingredients, Sodium 230mg... That's fine but did you see the "Electrolyte Blend"?? Yes, there is actually an additional Electrolyte Blend in addition to the already Sodium of 230mg and Potassium 180mg... So in the "EB" they have added 1190mg of more Sodium Dihydrate, Sodium Chloride, and Potassium Chloride.. Now how much of that blend is just Salt?? Who knows, that's the beauty of blends in products. They don't want you to know. Ok no prob, for argument sake let's say half, even though it's more because there's 2 forms of Sodium and 1 of Potassium. But we'll say half. So that's 595mg of salt from the "EB" and 230mg of salt in the ingredients that we can see on the label. So in 1 SCOOP THAT'S A RIDICULOUS 1825MG OF SALT!!!!!! But I'm a Big guy and train hard, I like 2scoops.. Wait that's 3650mg of SALT!!!!! That's enough salt to leave you BLOATED for days!!!! NO Thanks XTEND... This is what you call MAXIMIZING PROFIT.... Scivation ruined their product to make more money, while potentially hurting your physique and harming your health... How?? They come out with the original formula, and everyone jumps on board. Then they say to themselves we're an established brand for BCAAS let's cut our costs by filling it mostly of SALT, yes SALT is dirt cheap. Add some flavor and Bcaas and relaunch it... HENCE MARKETING ONE-ON-ONE, BRAND LOYALTY!!!!!! Except I'm loyal to ICE and RECOUP now... Now Salt, just BCAAS!!!!!

I think hes just stating his distaste for it, since Xtend isn't promoted on this forum it seems like a waste of time for him to attack something that isnt even sponsored here.

Yeah Scivation really is even touted on this board that would be the other board where the Xtend fan boys live.

hey OP...

you do realize that something like "Sodium Chloride" is not 100% sodium by weight, correct?

Molecular weight of sodium choloride: 58.44

weight of sodium = 22.98

This means sodium choloride is only 39% sodium. So if you were to take in "3650mg" of this salt form, you'd only actually get 1,423mg of actual sodium.

did you learn this from mr. wizard?

sodium is one of the most under-valued supplements in the world IMO.

This is true. Many athletes test to be deficient in sodium.

I have no comments directed specifically at the supplement though, I haven't used either version. :)

While I'm not a fan of the new formula because price went up 10 bucks (here in EU) compared to the old formula,
I couldn't agree more with what Vaughn stated right there.
I add 2gr of salt to my intra wo shake (1 scoop xtend, 1 scoop leucine)
Salt makes you retain water only if your water intake is too low, sodium makes your muscles
contract harder and for longer, you should keep both sodium and water intake high

I agree with the OP on his main point but not really on how he presented the argument. I feel salt solutions should stay out of bcaa supplements, like the old xtend. You can add your own salts to your formula if you choose, and personally I would rather add sodium to my FOOD and not to my bcaa powder. Love me some salty food.

I FOR one appreciate the OP's USE of RANDOM capitalization TO HAMMER home a POINT.

All of YOU get a fuking CLUE ok you don't know WHAT you're TALKING ABOUT bill nye the science guy MY ass XTEND is a horrible product and IF you don't see it my way YOU'RE ALL IDIOTS ok salt is bad FOR you go try drinking salt water OUT of the ocean you'll be all sick THAT'S how i know XTEND is horrible i saw this on a DAYTIME tv show called THE DOCTORS those are real doctors that know real INFORMATION about supplements a lot more THAN any of you idiots know

XTEND just sounds like something you'd take if you were born with a small dick. Just sayin'.

Xtreme Formulations ICE is a superior product to Xtend anyway. No salt added (I get enough from food) and they use Ajinomoto Pharmaceutical Grade BCAAs. No cheap chinese bulk aminos like Xtend. Taste isn't as good as Xtend, but for quality ICE is first on my list.

If I remember the late-night infomercial correctly, I believe the product you're thinking of is Extenze.

hmm other than the angry red, is the new xtend that bad? Just bought it because I found the small bottle for 18 and I'm low on funds.

If you are low on funds all BCAA's are a waste of money IMO.

No they aren't im cutting/recomping it helps keep calories down especially since i have difficulty eating.

Seems like difficulty eating would keep calories down all on it's own! :)

I agree though it is really preference. Whey protein and your protein containing meals are all chock full of BCAA's.

i know a few guys at the gym have been complaining about the new xtend formula as well......they claim it doesn't taste nearly as good as the old version and it doens't mix as well either

My friends and I would call it Jimmy Johnson when we took it LOL

I haven't got a chance to try the new Xtend but I may go for those sample packs and see what's up with it.

Funny, if I had founds for only ONE sup that would be BCAA/Leucine..

Free form aminos ain't the same of the ones you get with food or whey

This, plus protein shakes make me feel full. A bcaa shake is like drinking an odd foamy sports drink haha.

At best I would say this is up for debate, but it's been done ad nauseam. I use BCAA's from time to time, but I'm not sure of any real benefits.

Layne Norton is on your side, but it isn't clear cut.

It's very important to keep water intake HIGH, if you've been avoiding salt all along and you're reintroducing it
now your body will take some days to adapt to it, you will retain water in those days but then (again, granted you're drinking enough water) you will drop it. Meantime you will notice in your workout your muscle contracting harder, you will notice improved pump and
vascularity.
Like Vaugh said, salt/sodium is one of the most underrated sup

But if you are getting adequate salt intake from your diet I fail to see how adding it to a bcaa formula will improve performance assuming these individuals are doing a standard gym session and not running a marathon.

I absolutely agree with you, I always assume everyone has the same habits as me but that's def not the case :D
I don't get salt from my diet both because of food choices and because I don't like salty food,
and my training sessions are 3/4 hours long so yeah.. I do benefit from this dosing/timing
but it might not be the same for everyone.
