Training log revamp ROUND 3 lol

It’s just noobs who don’t understand the principles of thermodynamics. Whether you eat chicken veggies and rice or Burger King exclusively, if you are in the exact same surplus in the exact same person you will accrue bodyfat at the exact same rate (after accounting for hormonal implications from food selection, the thermic rate of the food, fiber, etc).

However, the person preparing home-cooked food is going to be much more methodical and almost certainly consuming more nutrient-dense or at least less processed/crap food like sugar and vegetable seed oils, while the dirty bulker is just eating whatever to ensure a surplus and with almost absolute certainty overeating to the point of excess.

Dirty bulking is just weight gain for the sake of it - that can have application in strength athletics, but I don’t see how getting unnecessarily fatter will make you a better bodybuilder

Not sure if he meant clean vs lean, but when I see someone say “lean bulk” I think, slight surplus 200 calories or so. In that context I think dirty bulk means 500+ surplus.

In the context of “clean bulk” vs “dirty bulk”, they’re just a meaningless buzz word to me.

I do understand the thought behind clean vs dirty, eating 4,000 calories in chicken and rice can be brutal, but I don’t consider a home made hamburger or tacos to be “dirty” like a lot of people probably would. To your exact point, calories are calories to a major extent and as long as you are accurately counting, it won’t matter for 95% of people whether those come from chicken, rice, and mixed nuts/olive oil (only “clean” fats I can think of lol) or 85/15 beef with a tortilla and cheese.

I could be different than most, but depending on context is how I kind of determine what I think a person means when saying dirty bulk.

I thought a dirty bulk was where you just didn't shower until you hit your target weight. No wonder I lost so many friends during my last one.

200 cals to me is just reverse dieting...
I'm for it, don't get me wrong and I think it would have (while very slow) very positive results. I guess your definition of lean bulk and my definition of reverse dieting might be the same thing with the same results the more I think it through actually.

I reverse dieted from sept-dec, put on around 4-5 total lbs but was able to increase my metabolic baseline around 1000 calories a day. NOW I'm up another 5lbs from Jan 1 to Mar 8th and the biggest difference is that while I'm still eating 14 to 18 of my 21 main meals per week exactly the same, I am having large "dirty" meals 1-3 times a week intentionally that are incredibly carb heavy (like a huge spaghetti meal) timed around lifts that are important to me.

of the 10lbs I've added in 6 months I'm extremely happy with probably 5-6 of them and any extra flab I've picked up is worth it imo

Next time someone says my next cycle is going to be a lean bulk om just going to say there is no other kind of bulk!!! Who in the hell wants to put on a bunch of fat as well as muscle!!!

Powerlifters trying to improve strength leverages for a higher total. Sumo Wrestlers trying to have the size and weight advantage to push their opponents out of the ring. Probably not a whole lot of other groups other than these types...

at the end of the day I just want to be a strong as I can, and know that I'm still nimble enough to run a mile or quickly throw a bar stool across the room if I have to. these things are more important to me than spider veins across my abs.

Exactly...we may differ in the physiques we want but I think we both can agree we don't want to put on a bunch of fat

I've been pudgy and I've been skinny. Now I'm 40 and feel like I could probably add another 10lbs and still be pretty happy. I always told my wife that in my 40s I want to look like one of those boss dads who clearly live in their garage gym even if it means I trade in my six pack for a small keg. right now I'm pretty happy with that. big shoulders and guns are a lot scarier than abercrombie abs.

Looks like I missed the party lol.

Little update, 213.4 after 2 weeks and slightly leaner, definitely stronger. As you all know I have problems with my feet and knees and there inflamed lately but no worse then they have been in the past. It comes and goes for the past few years. I'm probably gonna look into some natural anti-inflammatory stuff and probably use some bpc if I can figure out how to get close to the spots. They mostly hurt along waking and after work and don't seem to bother me when training, I'm sure the epistane isint helping but keep on mind it's not joint pain. Also today is 4 years since I quit drinking and I'm 2 weeks away from being back into the gym for 4 years.

No work today, probably gonna go play some cards and take a day with no consideration to meal timing or protein/calorie intake. Still will probably hit the gym for my pull day.

Not gonna post progress pics yet but I'm gonna post the following, after stooping training legs leading up to the bench comp in October and then not training them more then 2x In November and getting sick my legs melted back to nothing, no definition at all. There a glaring weakness but here's how they looked weeks

1-3-6 of training them again. I know there shitty still but I feel like in 6 weeks this is pretty dramatic improvement and I think by summer they will be respectable againInvalid Link Removed
And my calves are growing rapidly but they don't need to so IL probably stop directly training calves outside of ankle mobility related stuffInvalid Link Removedif my quads and hams catch up to my calves IL step on a stage on day lol, but that's not gonna happen

Congrats on the sobriety brother..that's more important and more impressive than anything you'll ever accomplish with your physique
Maybe hit legs 2× week and not even train calves until they become more proportionate? Are your arms the same size as your calves I think that's a better comp

Question for the team...so I pinned this morning and realized my beligas eq is brewed in benzyl benzoate. Do you guys think that it's a big deal. I know vigorous Steve is against that oil but he's also against ugls. I normally get geneza but they were outta drol so p my last package I got beligas. I looked at my geneza test and they don't list their carrier oil but om sure a quick search and I could find out. Just wondering your guys opinion, obviously I'm going to keep using eq so if I need to use a different brand I will. The beigas pro anadrol us legit tho!! In case you guys were interested

I'm training everything 2x week, which is normal for me. I've never responded well to training a body part 1 ti.e a week. Mainly I think because after spending 20-30min on a body part I'm bored and I'm kinda built for short explosive stuff, so i can kill 1-3 exercises per body part but once I'm doing 4+ exercises per part everything after the 3rd is kinda meh, intensity drops off fast. That's why I perfer ppl routines. I actually just started training calves 6 weeks ago too, before that I hadn't trained calves in probably a year and this is why. My calves grow from putting Socks on lol

I know the benzyl benzoate could cause PIP and maybe inflammation. If your not getting bad PIP or inflammation I would probably just stay the course and not change up unless you start to have issues.

Right on man, the improvement in the quads over just a month and a half is pretty damn impressive

Poker, 1-2 or 5-10 no limit. I live less then 20min from Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos. I also have a group of about 20-30 guys that were all on a calling list for a local "house game" so to speak. There's a guy who has 2 dealers and they run a game 1-2 times a week where they alert everyone and the first 10 to respond are locked in. That game is very sloppy tho. We all kinda know each other and it's always friendly in the sense that there's no problems. But most of the guys are there to gamble and not play poker, which is great when you have 1 or 2 ppl like that at a table. But when 7 out of 10 guys are chasing flushes and straights all the time there's always someone who's gonna hit and it's no longer a poker game, you mine as well be playing a slot machine. Guys will show up with $500-1000 at a time and just raise out of control and it turns purely luck.

It's toxic but I honestly think most ugl use it even if they don't say it. It's a common ugl lpractice to use ba and bb. How bad is it, idk. I do know you won't get lice or scabies while it's in yiur system lol

Dude that's awesome. when we did vegas back for nye I finally for my first time in like 15 years was able to get into a vegas poker room. a decade ago my game was 2/4 limit but all that was open that day was 1/3 NL so I gave it a go. I netted probably 3 total hours waiting for my wife to get ready a couple different nights. broke even, broke even, then up like $2hundy.

Came home and thought maybe I'd check on the old card rooms in my region. the main one closed during covid and never re-opened but I found two more I've been hitting lately. They offer 1-3, 3-5, and 5-10NL as well as 4/8 and 8/16 limit and a big 10/20 omaha game. I never learned Omaha so I stick with the 1/3 for now but I'm loving it.

And I totally know what you mean.... I'm getting to recognize a bunch of the regulars and even though I'm not a fish, I do average a winning stack when I leave even if marginally and I think i've earned enough of their respect that when 3-5 of us are sitting at an 8 person table they don't check raise, reraise, or even raise into my calls pre-flop but when "gamblers" show up with small stacks you can tell it's like a feeding frenzy when suddenly 5 guys with $500 stacks are targeting the $100 stacks and watching them rebuy for an hour lol

at this point in my game if I sit for a few hours and walk away at break even at a table with a max $300 buy in I feel good because I'll watch at least 6 guys go bust and buy back in for hundreds and hundreds of dollars. I'm still learning IMO

i see that a lot too, and knowing full well which guys are going to call every raise I just leave it alone unless I flop the nuts then I take what I can from them. but if they have the potential of drawing out on me I just don't even risk it lol

I'm usually a very patient player, IL play on average only 5 or 6 hands a hour. It makes for a very boring game so I always need headphones and a podcast or even a movie to watch on my phone. Most hands I'm looking at my cards really quick and folding. Limping in with A10-AK off suite and raising with high pockets or AK/AQ suited. If I play Mohegan during the day I don't usually get callers till around lunch time. All the regular players kinda know if I raise pre flop and bet the flop they better have a solid hand to call. It's weird, when you play often you start to know what most the regulars are doing and we don't get involved with each other too often. Then around noon the new players roll in and action picks up

Lol..there's no pip or anything and on that same video Steve said they usually have to use ba with gear dosed 300 or higher and my eq is obviously 300/cc. All good then just wanted to run it past you guys and see what you thought.

ahaha that's relatable man
I was having a bad night a few weeks ago, just rough beats one after the other and the regulars started going easy on me, if I limped in, they'd either fold or limp in beside me instead of raising with a monster just to give me a chance to see the flop 😅😅

I made the fatal mistake of jumping in deep, reading books etc and all the sudden started losing. Then I said why the hell am I playing other peoples games when my own game always does me pretty well? Went back to folding 9 out of 10 hands and hoping that people don't raise me out of my BB half the time. Suddenly I'm winning again lol. Folding a LOT but winning. I told my wife I almost have to pay the poker gods my time cause it takes 1-2hrs of folding, reading the table and waiting before I suddenly get a wave of decent hands to play.

My last game I played for four hours and I did not see KK, AA, or 10/10 once. Had AK once. QQ once, which was beat on the flop. and JJ once which did hold up somehow. but in 4 hours... just nothing fruitfull. no full houses, no flush. My table had quads 3 times in that span for high hands ($200 every 20 minutes) and I thought maybe if I had 2 more hours that quad would cycle my way eventually lol!

I don't mind folding a lot though. Like you said sometimes it's enough of a game for me to watch people play and guess in my head what I think they have based upon actions.

If you go to Connecticut, maybe Smont can get you hooked up in one of his games, with some of the regulars. Just bring $500 and I’m sure they would be willing to teach you.😎

Man I watched this kid build a monster stack. the table has a $300max buy in and he was sitting with around $700. But he was calling everything, raising silly high, and bluffing way too much. I thought yeah you made $400 in an hour of poker but easy come easy go, if you don't learn how to play it's all going to disappear fast like this.

Sure enough, I'm sitting beside him with the same $200 I bought in with and his $700 quickly turns to dust and he's buying back in for another $300. that's a rule I have.... if I lose, I go home. don't buy back in. and when I play, I play with the winnings of my last game...

The mg/ml concentration is only relevant to certain products. Testosterone can't fit into solution much higher then 300/ml so when its higher it needs more solvents. Eq is almost liquid at room temperature and yiu can easily fit 400mg/ml in solution.

But the amount of gear has nothing to do with toxicity. Weather is 10mg/ml or 500mg/ml it plays no role in toxicity, that's purely from the solvents

On a regular basis I see guys go from 200 to 1000 and next thing there buying in. That's the gambler. No self control, no money management. I usually buy in for 200, once I double it I won't risk going below 300 unless I flop the nuts. Then once I get to 500 I won't go below 4 and so on. Sometimes you get no action and can't make money but I found this my safest bet to make a few bucks without too much risk.

I must of missed this post Smont, but I battle feet issues as well, mainly Plantar Fasciitis. I have tried injecting BPC directly into the bottom of my feet, and it was really painful getting through that thick skin, but I recently was able to inject it between the toes, I know the way it sounds, but between the toes into the ball of the foot at the top, where they connect, and it really helped a lot. Pretty much seemed to help everywhere except the heel. Hopefully that makes sense, but yeah it works pretty good just getting it close.

Somehow I got a massive delt pump on pull day? IL take it tho. IL do real progress pics when my test/eq/npp shows up. Then IL do bi weekly ones if I can get baby momma to take them without a attitude. Still just on 150 test, 30 epistane and i have occasionallybeen taking 30mg of random sarms pre workoutInvalid Link Removed
Also forgot to post my freaking delicious breakfast. 4 whole eggs, sausage, peppers and spinach with sourdough and coffee.

that's solid money management, thanks for sharing your strategy! I may adopt that myself. I have had to reign myself in after taking a big pot and try to remind myself that I should play just as tight with $300 or $400 as I would with $100.

one guy I got to know recently told me he went for MONTHS sitting at the 1/3 table with only a $100 stack (and he plays daily) to force himself to play tighter.

I haven't deadlifted in a few months and I've been itching but I don't wanna risk my back right now. Especially when I know my strength is about to go up dramatically on cycle. It's a recipe for disaster with me if I don't be careful. I need to set up a planned progression phase or whatever you wanna call it or IL start pulling too heavy too fast. I was pulling mid 400's for sets of 3 off cycle last time I was doing them and maxing out singles at 495-505. I was also 15lbbs lighter then I am now.

I know in a few weeks of being on everything I can pull a extra 50lbs or so and IL definitely fry my lower back.

Had this for post workout today, threw it in a jumbo wrap and had a can of ginger ale. Invalid Link RemovedInvalid Link Removed

Tonight for dinner I'm doing sausage and peppers with some chicken breast chunks thrown in there. Probably with rice and I'm gonna make a high protein dessert of some sort

I knew the amount if gear had nothing to do with toxicity and that it was the carrier that mattered. I was "shopping" yesterday and geneza just came out with a T400. I was like nope!, no way..I didn't even click on it to see the details

Ya I always avoid **** like that. I usually pick a test E in mct oil @300mg/ml or a cyp at 250mg/ml.
I've grown found of the mct oil products because the liquid is much thinner and goes in more smoothly for me.

IDK about you but I love benching as much as deadlifting so it's sorta like when I can't do one it's nice to be able to do the other but then I find myself doing a lot more prehab and being careful that I don't lose that other lift too lol

I've had Grey in my beard for 6 or 7 years, none on my head tho. It's all around my chin
too funny man I'm getting more in my beard, like right at the hitler stash area under my nose even, then on my head as well 😅😅 few years ago when I owned a gym i was getting greys like crazy around my ears and even finding more hair in my hands in the shower. sold the gym and the grey in my head disappeared i didn't even know that could happen.

I've heard some things can reverse graying, idk how much but it does seem like if yiur getting stress induced Gray hairs and you eliminate the stress it stops or slows down. Once those grays fall out from the normal shedding process there gone

Flat heavy low rep bench press is my absolute favorite. But because I'm focusing on growth I eased up on it for machines and Smith incline press. I'm doing a weird ppl variation right now that allows a lot of room to adjust things.

There's a push, pull, legs and a arms day occasionally mixed in. When I do a arms day I still throw in curl grip pull UPS and close grip bench presses so that my chest and back are getting a little bit of work. The routine has me getting everything trained 2x in a 7 to 10 day period.

I'm thinking about a slight alteration to get a heavy compound day mixed in. I like improving my strength always and plan on hitting a 405 bench this year. Let me rephrase that. I absolutely will bench 405 this year.

I'm thinking of doing p,p,l, compound lifts.

So it might be pull on Tuesday, push on Wednesday, legs on Thursday and then on Saturday I can bench and deadlift with a few accessories. I'd still be getting everything trained 2x a week and could do arms on Sundays if I wanted.

Another variation could be
Pull, legs, push, rest, then have a day where I bench, Squat, overhead press and deadlifts. Rest and repeat.

I'd always have 3 days to train everything like a bodybuilder and a day where I lift heavy. Foe the purpose of mental satisfaction this is my best approach I think. I have no intention or delusional ideas of becoming a bodybuilder at this point in my life. I lack the time and freedom to chase that pipe dream without making my family suffer or be extremely annoyed with me. But being 220 with abs and a 400lb bench and 600lb deadlift is very accomplishable in my eyes. I have enough knowledge and time to achieve that goal over the next year or 2 and I firmly believe that. Realistically I need about 15 more lbs of muscle and a slightly lower bf%.
With proper dedication it could definitely be done in a year from where I'm at right now but more realistically Given my life style what's going to be a 2 year process. Or it's going to be one of those things where I look the part when I'm on cycle and soften up when I'm on trt

Both of those variations would work well I think. If your diets clean enough you may not have to drop calories and lose strength in order to get to 220 " with abs,"

dude I am pumped to watch this unfold and I love these targets you've set.

Sounds like a solid plan and on your PL days if still focusing on hypertrophy just keep sets to 5 reps. You can still get a lot stronger while getting more volume in.
