To Infinity.... and Beyond!

Great and fun looking session.

That is awesome about the seahorses and getting some new stuff for your coral. I love fish, someday I will set my tank back up. I need a new filter and stuff but will likely go with another Texas Cichlid and Peacock tank. Make it brackish and maybe do a stingray too. I like to get ones I can drop some rosies in and watch them eat. :) I also used to have an Amazon Red Tailed catfish that looked like a miniature orca that would eat shrimp out of my hand and let me pet it on it's head when I fed him. He was fine with the cichlids and peacocks because he couldn't catch them and they were more aggressive than him.

Dumpling crawl sounds awesome!

dude, it was so good, lol.
We have sorta fallen in love with this thai place. It's in the depths of the ghetto, near the base, where shootings and prostitution are the highest. It's a "sports bar" that serves thai, and we have many questions but... the food is fantastic so we go back.

What's it take to raise sea horses? Photo below is pretty neat with the color and phosphorescence.

about 21 years ago I raised/bred them for a while so when my wife expressed interest I was both excited and terrified because I knew the potential struggles.... we will likely do hippocampus zosterae (commonly known as dwarf seahorses, although branded by Ocean Rider as "pixies") they're very small, but require live food. so right now we are exploring brine shrimp hatching options and trying to figure out if it's truly feasible to have a "clean" looking system to raise the live food without becoming to eclectic and trashy, and without necessarily having to "hatch" them every single day.... eventually summer time will hit and our other hobbies will want some attention too, lol.

man years ago I had a cichlid tank, they're definitely my favorite in the freshwater world. I told my wife if we go to Africa I'd love to visit lake Tanginika some day!

LOVE mudvayne. Saw them on the most recent tour with Static-X, Powerman5000, and Rob Zombie.

Just the tiniest shoulder pain today, so I may have to take my own advice and throw in some armbars to prehab that.
all in all 285 was a very reasonable lift, probably had more in me, so within 5% of my 1RM with about a 10-12lb drop in January is pretty good. I'm happy with the results so far.

Same man, never saw them live but saw some other goodies with Godsmack at the Pain in the Grass shows. I'm getting flashbacks now. pretty sure this one used to come on my playlist every time I was on my run/cardio back in the day when I was first cutting down from like 240lbs to 168.

Classic... The song "1000 mile journey" was stuck in my head the entirety of basic training, probably the last song I heard or some ****. I must have weighed 145-150, but it got me to a 6:15 2 mile lol.

That's some serious weight loss. I'm catching up with where the regulars here are coming from, some impressive stories.

That's some serious weight loss. I'm catching up with where the regulars here are coming from, some impressive stories.

I was planning on playing football senior year of high school but went to college instead then started a company a year later, so all of my intentional weight gain at age 18 sorta went to waste. got married at 20, decided it was ridiculous, and got back into shape. For reference, I wrestled at 148 lol.

168 was too skinny, grew to 198. got into competiting in crossfit, hung out in the 180s most of the time, and always cut down to about 174 at my very leanest, around 8% bodyfat. hung out between 176-182 for years, held on to the six pack for years.

Finally embraced a true strength cycle in sept of 2022, slowly reverse dieting at first. only added 4lbs the first 4 months.
in 2023 I was 187 in Feb when my wife and I went on vacation. By Dec I had PR'd bench and deadlift many times, held on to my 350lb squat, and weighed in at a peak of 207lbs.

Jan 1 of this year 202lbs, really only utilized fasting this month to cut down to a low fasted/dehydrated weight of 189 but my walking around fed weight appears to be 191.x lbs.

we go on vacation again in 2 weeks so I think it would be hilarious to hit 187. that would be a 20lb swing up, and back down, in exactly 12 months, with many PR rewards along the way.

Right now contemplating a strength cycle with my buddy starting March 1st, so I'd like to cut down probably as much as I can before we do that, then run 4-6 week cycles of strenght/bulk followed by mini cuts.

Don’t get shanghaied down there!!

Here for propagation porn

I told the guy at the local saltwater store how my wife and I tend to double down on our aquarium hobby during the winter. He said its super normal, summer time is his slow period, but once the Washington weather turns to $hit everyone turns to their indoor under water gardens again lol

Bicep curls in the squat rack.

Power cleans
5 x 95, 135, 165
3 x 185, 205
1 x 215, 225

(Really wanted to rep out like 30 x 135 but the barbell sucked. Not worth it )

2" deficit deads
6 x 225, 275, 315

Hang power cleans
3 x 10 x 135

Hammer curls
10 x 32.5s, 42.5s, 47.5s

EZ bar curls
12 x 60, 70, 80

Seated incline DB Hammer curls
3 sets x 25s

(Light weight but awesome stretch/ROM)

Leg curls
3 x 12

Leg ext
3 x 10

Notes
Work was an ass kicker today so motivation was a little down. Left my belt in the truck and focused on

Discipline > volume > repetition > hypertrophy. .

What started as a crappy make-yourself-go session turned into a pretty old school volume pump day.

Did not make 189.9lbs by end of month but shaved a solid 10lbs.

Now I'm off to moms for her shepherds pie and fasting tomorrow Invalid Link Removed

Whoa! That looks like a lot of volume! Very nice power clean.

I’m all about it. Stoked to see your setup!

I really need to get a new phone/better camera... I picked up these fruit loop zoas last weekend that I'm pretty excited about. Last night a local guy on FB offered up Utter Chaos Zoas for $10/frag so I grabbed 2 frags from him (5polyps), they're like $50-60+ per frag usually in the stores. they're super healthy too.

dude I was like just do the work even if it's not heavy, next thing I knew it was full blown bro sesh lol preWO must have kicked in... 😅

I'm enjoying bringing power cleans back. I feel like it's just an important lift to me in terms of long ROM and explosiveness. I feel a bit more mobile and agile since bringing them back into my warm-ups.

Pump the volume! Always good when you turn a negative to positive.

Shepherds pie 🤤

We are having the most bizarre false spring ever, we do every year but it's really really and absolutely beautiful. Bluebird skies, dry, and relatively WARM.

There's really not a sky in the cloud and I'm telling you it feels like 68f...

So my boy and I skipped our Sunday bench session for 4hrs of paintball today. It was an absolute blast.

Dip, dive, duck, dodge, and dip...

We're sweaty messes lol. Maybe I found his sport....

man it was so great. During the covid era we had built some RC cars and used to race them at a local indoor track. we're thinking of selling all our old RC stuff now and parlaying that $$ into paintball gear.

I'm SORE today. lunging, squatting, (paused, lol), sprinting, etc for 20min wods at a time... my legs are more sore today than a normal squat or pull session.

Last meaningful weigh in for a couple weeks.

Feb 2023 - 189.X lbs
Dec 2023 - 207lbs peak
Today - 186.6lbs fasted

New fat guy pants look ridiculous on me already. New board shorts I bought last fall look like a toddler trying on Dad's shorts. Lol

This week has been a scheduling disaster between vacation prep, new customer onboarding details and normal work stuff so I took advantage of a crazy Monday/Tuesday with a 60hr fast.

Which I broke this morning with a pile of pork, chicken, and ground turkey

Goal is a meaningful session today and tomorrow, we head to the airport 2am Friday

I typically get 2-3 short hotel style sessions in while I travel but it's DB only, no barbells available.
lots of walking though, that's really our favorite pass time in Mexico.

obviously it's renpho so the BF% doesn't really mean much.

Nice work on the successful fast - I know how those last couple days before vacay go; over in a blink of an eye and you are exhausted by the time you get on that plane! But it will be so good when you feel the warm air as you walk out of the airport at your destination. That’s when the vibe begins, as the kids would say.

Thanks man, it has been a fast, fun, and successful cut. It's let me mentally change gears a little bit and take a break with a timeline in place so that I can refresh and be ready to hit it hard in a few weeks. Working on setting up more properly planned out strength cycles starting Mar 1. The timeline strategy helps me mentally big time.

ahhhh yes looking forward to that warm breeze! picked up some small card games for patio time with the wife. I figure we will have a lot of down time so even just chilling by the pool defrosting will be nice.

Actually went a tiny bit heavier than I had planned as a last pump session preTravel.

Weight
186.6lbs (fasted before carbload)

Some moments I feel good with my shirt off. Some moments I feel incredibly small and weak. What a mind F.

In other news
Some girl started doing bent over DB rows with no bra and an oversized shirt and her tit dun fell right out.

Nice work on the fasting and a great mini cut! Hope you and the wife have a great well deserved vacation!

Thanks man, appreciate the support! Looking forward to the week off and hitting the ground running when I get back!

And some people still try to say there’s no God… some days, you win some

She's out there doing the Lords work. I don't even think it was an accident cause she kept going. From the time I did inclines, laterals, forwards, dips, extensions, etc she was still at that one bench going back and forth between bulgarians and bent over rows lol

I know you and your wife are going to have a great time…….Enjoy, and eat.😜

This place we are going to is our all time favorite but we visited it during covid in the past so it was quiet... it will be a learning experience to see what this little island is like during a non covid era. either way.... the ceviche was always AWESOME so I'll be having it daily!

Ceviche? Is that the dish that’s like Mexico’s sushi soaked in lime? If it is, I’ve tried it, and it is very good.👍

Yessir and I've found that it's different in different regions based upon their fresh seafood available! On the Caribbean side of MX where we are going (Isla Mujeres) they have a ton of these small lobsters that are like half size, and Conch, which tastest amazing, as well as grouper and some other interesting fish. Since I'm a PNW boy, my life is salmon, halibut, cod, and trout. for shelfish, we usually have muscles and oysters. we don't even have catfish really in Washington.

but down on the Caribbean side of MX we enjoy these chunks of conch (it's a huge snail), with various white fish in a citrus "cooked" bowl, sorta like a seafood salsa, with fresh chips. prices really really vary in mexico. it could be $4-5 a few blocks out, or $18-20 in a touristy zone, but we are doing all inclusive so I will get my $65/day worth of food and beverage 😅

it's sold usually as an appetizer but we like to crawl and try many different things and places while we are out so typically one ceviche with a shot of tequila or una cerveza is enough for a small meal for me.

I'm certain I'll take a million dumb food pictures while I'm down there like usual lol

They do have a sushi place (it's OK, but sorta weird) and italian places etc but they always crack me up cause I'm in Mexico... I want Mexican food, ha! Admittedly we do have reservations at two different sports bars on the island for the superbowl though on Sunday..... lol

Sounds pretty amazing, enjoy my friend! I was down in Key West once and I saw they advertised fried conch a lot. Never tried though!

Seem to recall maybe last time you made it to Mexico you found a local hardcore gym, didn't you?

I feel like we saw pictures of the outside jailhouse-strong-esque training facility in his thread before?

Ahahaha yes in Sayulita it was definitely jailhouse style, the one here is more like.... To say they have one.... DBs and treadmills mostly.

From a training log perspective, I finished off in december:

1 week XPG Epiandro gel
About 4 weeks of Ultra hard
1.5 weeks of super epi (iconic)
And rolled into this trip with only my SNS optimize T. I brought just more than enough for the trip to run it daily.

All good in the hood.

Fully restocked for a few more runs of muscle addiction epi though later.
