brotha, i was shocked that i got a burn doing 50 lbs - i warm up with 100 and can barely feel it. i'll shoot for higher volume next time i do back, and prioritizing the exercise towards the beginning of my workout so i have more energy to do them :)

No shame man... when I see a big dude at the gym doing things with low weight, I don't hate... I PAY ATTENTION!!!

Thats exactly it! I hate when guys are ignorant like that! Pay attn and learn! These cats didnt get that way over nite! Experience = Knowledge!
 
I think I will do my wide chins first and then a widow maker set of these after. Time to grow wings!!
 
LATS :

i got DOMS in my lats from yesterday when i experimented after my workout. now i will admit that deads really helped build my entire back, lats included. when i do straight arm lat pulldowns i can feel my lats burning, but no real DOMS the next day, even though i'm training them to failure.

after my workout, i tried burning them down - i dropped the weight down to 50 for straight arm lat pulldowns. now here's where it gets interesting. the weight was so light, that i didn't wrap my fists around the bar - just kept my hands flat, palms down. i got the same burn from doing 50, as i do rest pausing 130! lean forward slightly, bring the weight down to my hips, and brought them up to eye level - no further, all while keeping my hands flat. this managed to take my delts out of the movement, and for one of the very few times, i felt my lats getting demolished. i'll do 4 x 8-12 after my deads, but before the rest of my back workout and see what gives.

it was humbling to drop the weights by 80 lbs, and i'm a little shocked that it worked as good as it did. if i didn't explain this properly, please let me know, and i'll attempt to describe it again.

burn them bad boys brother.. I might try the same thing:)
 
Nice to see Dual Pulley Pulldowns! Those things absolutely rock the hell out of the lats. I usually do them every other back day.

Actually I like watching big dudes working out with less/little weight, if they can get the same or better effect with less weight thats what I rather do, its better on your joints at least, too bad I dont see many in my gym!

the good word... i'm doing great - hitting more PR's in PCT which is a great feeling. i switched over to recomp for PCT since i'm at my target weight : 200+

how was your trip buddy? i'm sure the food tasted great :) all those noodles and white rice though must have been a heck of a temptation. tell us how china is like - i haven't been there since 1981 and i can't remember much since i was 5 :)

I was working 6 days a week and 12-16 hour days while I was there...I accidentally dropped 10 pounds over the last 3 weeks. I'm hoping that I'll get some of those pounds back pretty quickly.
 
I would give up ten pounds to go to China!! You can always get that back but, the experience of China will be forever. Nice photo too.

that and the high sodium of soy sauce/oyster sauce. still, sounds like you had a blast, which hopefully recharges you to tear it up stateside :) getting 10 lbs back won't take more than a month.

advice if i may - start uploading some potassium to help level your system back to normal - that's the most forgotten thing with foreign diets :)

my extended family lives in malaysia, so i know some of this junk firsthand.

hey SC, you said your switching over to recomp since your at your target weight? how are you doing this in your training? are you just going to stop moving up in weight at move up in reps?

i'm trying to lower the rep range, to slow down mass gains and focus on strength. instead of a 8/5/2 rep range, i'm trying (and i don't always succeed) to hit a 6/3/1 instead. of course if i can do more reps, i will, but the target rep range has gone down.
 
hrm. not terribly happy with today. G/F lost her ID and she was freaking out that she couldn't get her medical supplies - which took her into a panic attack. my morning was pretty much shot. anyways, i wasn't motivated enough to hit the gym up after lunch, but i did manage to get in at 8 tonight. here's the damage :)

bench 275 x 6/3/2 - lost two more reps. 275x6 isn't quite a PR, but 280x anything is :)
chest dips BW + 95 x 7/4/2 - down 2 reps, up 5 lbs.
upright rows (smith) 190x 7/3/2 - nothing :(
incline bench 235x 6/3/2 - down one rep, up 5 lbs.
CG bench 235 x 6/4/2 - down 2 reps, up 10 lbs
military press 185x 8/5/2 - lost one rep - WTF?
cable crossovers 90 x 8/4/2 - up 5 lbs, down 8 reps. dese suck.
tricep dip machine
reverse grip - 240 x 7/4/2 - up 20 lbs, down 5 reps
overhand grip - 250 x 7/4/3 - up 20 lbs, down 3 reps
parallel - 280 x 8/5/2 up 30 lbs, down 4 reps. machine maxed.

thoughts: i'm so glad that i'm getting ready to cruise for a week. my CNS feels like its getting damaged - thursday when i did chest/tri's and legs later, the doms in my chest/tri's didn't go away till sunday. friday when i did back/bi's, my doms didn't go away till today. legs are still a bit sore, but not too bad. i feel like my recovery is slowing down, which definitely lets me know that i need to start slowing down. next week is the cruise stage for sure.
 
Solid work out sunny...its coming to that time your going to need to cruise bro, you have been pushing extremely hard these past months, wicked hard bro which is great, but, its always great to give the body a little recoup time also..:)
 
delayed onset muscle soreness - that's when the muscles worked hurt like hell the next day. usually my doms last for 24 hours - its rare for it to last longer anywhere except my legs, which is almost always 72 hours.

Alas the problem with my leg training. I love training legs - but then the DOMS makes my road work extremely hard... Just saps all the energy from my quads and hammies.
 
Way to listen to what your body is telling you Sunny. Time to let it heal up and replenish. You will be ready to get back after it I'm sure!!
 
I see that as a soild work out mang! You may not have "progressed" as much as you wanted, but dang bro, you did work on the iron! Great Job!

If you have gone this far without then you are fine. I run one pretty much all the time but, my age and stress level call for it. Primordial has their new Endo-amp max that will be next in line for me.

i did snap on some jackass with a prosthetic leg today though that tried to give my g/f some oxycontin. i told him to get in his #$&@ car before i used that fake leg to give him an embolism. other than that i'm pretty easy going.

I'm glad to hear she's getting her dependences under control. Oxy is not fun stuff. I remember they gave me a crapload of the stuff after my skiing accident. I never felt that the pain was so bad that I needed to use it, but took it anyway. Not good. The stuff can really mess with your life. I was lucky to cut the habit before the Rx ran out because it started to interfere with my grades at school.

thesinner - glad you're doing OK. oxy is indeed the devil - pharmaceutical grade heroin is no joke. its sad that its not taken very seriously because its "prescription".

Since that rock bottom point in my life, I have been through prison and jail, through rehab, and actually picked up weight lifting in rehab. You can imagine how recent this all is. So take it from me OXY will demolish a life. It can turn a decent human being into a lying, cheating, evil criminal. I hate that drug and what it has done to me. Fortunately, I still have all my teeth, and I got some weights to replace my old hobbie, "getting high"

my g/f at one point was taking 600mg daily - prescribed no less from ONE doctor.

EDIT : congrats on changing your life around - its a very hard thing to do.

rack chins + 65 lbs, 6/4/2 - down 3 reps, up 5 lbs
deads 355 x 5 - rep 6 didn't want to lock out. got it up to my traps, couldn't get shoulderblades back.
face pulls 140 x 7/4/3 - up 10 lbs, down 3 reps. last 2 inches of ROM was killer
barbell rows - 210 x 6/4/2 - up 5 lbs, down 2 reps
machine curls - 150 x 10/6/3 - nada. 160 scares my left elbow.
standing shrugs - 310 x 7/4/3 up 10 lbs, down 5 reps
reverse pec dec machine - 130x 6/3/1 - up 10 lbs, down 6 reps.

after my set of deads, i felt a sharp pain in my right leg, right above the kneecap - quads not anything serious. it was definitely a weird experience. i'll be careful with legs today and see what gives.
 
Really warm them up before you lift Sunny. Get alot of reps in and see where you go from there. It could be a good time to start the cruise...

it could be my workout timing has been altered. i am definitely stronger in the early afternoon, hence why i try working out at 1PM. recently, my workouts have all been around 8PM - i've got to make sure girly girl doesn't need any errands run, taking her to a hospital for an MRI, taking her to doctors appointments, etc. its unlikely that there won't be something pressing that i have to address during my standard workout time :( regardless, i'll start the cruise on monday just to be safe.

do you think i should start cruising after today - since the workouts will just be modified versions of what i did earlier this week?
 
Don't see why not...you have killed it up in here for a while. Pull back and let yourself relax a little. As you said, you have alot happening right now in your private life. Straight sets and some easy cardio days.
