Steroids and doctors?

anything i say to my doctor is put in my chart. now lets say in 20 years i develop prostate cancer, the insurance company goes thorough my medical records and BLAMO...uh,oh steroid abuse, claim denied which leaves me dying of cancer or broke.

Yup there you go. To directly answer the OP, it is confidential. The doctor can't call the cops and give them your address. However I've heard different stories. In one case, my friend's doctor told him that he was an idiot and didn't want to be his doctor anymore if he was going to make bad decisions like that. In another case, the doctor monitored the bloodwork on a regular basis - liver functions, test levels, etc. You run the risk but like lennoxchi said, if insurance goes thru chart you are fcukt

well thats why i go to mexico for medical checkups and blood work and two minor surgeries. i dont need an insurance company knowing the negative things about my health. plus theres almost no waiting time and my doctor knows me,its all personal and no electronic file and you get to keep your file with you so no one but you and your doctor can see it.

I tell my doc everything. He is awesome, same guy that delivered me. Course he has a PhD in bomb-diggity.

yeah have called him on his cell at like 2am fraking out thinking I had an STD when I was in college. turned out to be a bruised kidney from practice. lol

whats funny is I hear a lot of people saying things like this, but I have yet to hear a single case of it actually happening to anyone

Being a rock-solid libertarian and gun rights advocate (surprise!), I'm not a huge fan of the of the ACLU because of their a la carte view on civil liberties, but they do come in handy at times. That page makes for some interesting reading.
Synopsis: Don't bank heavily on your medical records being as private as they should be. By "private as they should be", I mean medical records should exist solely for the benefit of the patient and be between that person, their doctor, and NOBODY else unless that person decides such without coercion. Unfortunately, things aren't that way anymore and it is easier than you might think for your records to be accessed by undesirables.

Wouldn't hurt to ask...but then how do you know there will never be a note of it..?
Guess if you can call your doc @ 2AM then maybe things r good...if you have to call a hotline to get to your doc...then maybe..the pen is mightier than the liver....IDK

doubt they would not chart. its their only form of protection when the patient sues. imagine just being given AAS with no chart entry or any lab workup, bad outcome, and bam instant huge jury award.

If you dont pass on all the information about what you put in your body then you deserve to get sh*tty service from your Doctor. Not tellin him you use gear for insurance reasons is dumb. You might not be around in 20 years time cos you didn't bother telling him about the gear you were running.

its not really the same price for all of us - you know? I would need a plane ticket from connecticut to mexico, like $800 right? IDK - i have my bloodwork done on a regular basis at a clinic so i dont really have a regular physician. i suppose i should. not sure what the consequences would be of telling him about gear.

so yes going to mexico from connecticut would be expensive
depending on what you were doing in mexico
if you were doing surgery it would be worth the cost, otherwise for you, im not sure what you should do.
i think you should maybe befriend a doctor, make things regular, keep things as confidential as possible and pay in cash. i just feel lucky to live near the border.

It's tthe same as any insurance company denying someone because of a pre existing injury, happens more than it should. Or having coverage lowered or refused due to prior conditions. It is worse when you are self employed and pay for your insurance...tthose people have no mercy....happened to me 8 yrs ago with a back injury. Now, if Iwant to have surgery, I'm out of a shyyyat load of cash.

I'm not saying it can't happen, just that i've never actually heard someone say it did with steroids in particular. Yeah, when you are self-employed its a whole different ballgame with insurance entirely.

To the Op.
If your doc is "cool" so to speak, he may not put certain facts in your file. I know a few doctors like this, but I do not go to them for anything serious..i.e. heart condition.

i wonder if you tell them "off the record" or not to write it down if they listen. i also wonder if their notation is enough for an insurance company to deny.

If you look long enough, and hard enough, you will find a few that will go along with your request. However, it is an "iffy" subject.
Once, in the past, i wanted a 3rd blood test (supposed to have 2 on the insurance per year). So, I told the doc that I purchased something OTC and after I took it, i felt weird. I then said that I did research and there was some scrutiny about "spiked". So, he sent me in for another blood work. He put in my file that I had ingested an "out of date" supplement.....lol

I'm not trying to obtain a script for gear, I would just like to have an educated talk with her about everything, without getting jousted in the ass by insurance. Also are people denied such coverages if they have a history of alcohol or drug abuse, would like to stay on topic but just wondering.
