Has any one tried Cerebral Success? The brain supp. Im thinking about purchasing

Got my money back from Uncle Sam today. Wife and I sat down and budgeted the whole thing out, as to be responsible n shyt. Most will go to paying down bills, a chunk towards the ManVan, some towards stocking up on groceries - just bought a standing freezer, so gotta fill it with MEAT!!! A bit of it gets split up for all 3 of us - $200 to her, $200 to me, $100 to Izz. (Yeah, we're letting our 3 yr old have $100. Gotta start teaching her responsibility some time, right? HA!!)

In discussing what fun junk we want to do with our splits, and in discussing my upcoming tattoo plans, the thought was brought up about me just buying materials and starting to do it myself. I'm good at the whole art thing, and to me, this would just be another medium to learn. She's quietly wanted me to do it for a while now, I guess, so about 20 minutes ago, I took the plunge and dropped $200 on a decent little starter kit!!! Absolutely STOKED about it, too!!! Best part, from the money end, is that she agreed to throw in half. Since it'll be easier for me to ink her than myself, she definitely sees the benefit of this. Nice... I love my wife... :D

As for the rest of it, not sure what to do yet. Gonna pull the bike out this weekend. It hasn't been charging all winter, so I'm not sure if the battery will be any good. Might have to replace it, and if so, there goes the rest of my loot. If not, I'm thinking of either saving it or doing something stupid with it. Time will tell...

Hey bro I've been tattooing for a bit now. My best advice to you starting out is buy quality tattoo supplies. The better your stuff the better your tattoos look. Don't be surprised if you drop 500-600$ on just a liner and shader machine. Let me know if I can help man.

In time, i just might! I'm not going to be doing anything remotely professional (for cash), just maybe a few things here and there for myself, my wife, or close friends. Chances are good that if I can get the technique down, I'll be decent at it. I know I have a lot of practicing to do, and a LOT of grapefruit to purchase in the coming months!! lol But I am excited to give it a try. A buddy down the road from me is also learning, and from what I've seen so far, is really good with line work. He can ink, but he can't draw. He can only copy. I can draw, or copy, so we will probably work with eachother and benefit.

I'm glad I have 0 talent as far as drawing goes, or i'd probably do the same.

Did you see the concept art I put up on FB last week? It's evolving, but that's what I'm shooting for on my left arm. I may be able to do some of the work on that, but I'm going to let my buddy Jeremy do the bulk of it. Keep watch there for what I come up with! :D

yeah, it looked good. I still need to do my taxes, i'm dreading it

I was dreading mine, too. Zapping the ol' retirement to fix that dammmmn Saab was killer, but fortunately things turned out OK in the end and we got a few bucks back. Next year, we should be back to a good amount of refund again. I'm bankin' on the ManVan not needing anything major, plus after the Saab, I have nothing left to tap this year! If all goes well, I may be lookin' for a beater next refund season - little 2-wheel drive S-10 or Dakota, just to run about with and in case of back-up should anything happen to the ManVan. I really don't like having just one vehicle.

What kind of Saab do you have TAD? I had a 93...don't remember the year but I loooved that thing! Think it was a 2ltr engine with a turbo and milage was fantastic!

I like to practice on pig skin. You can get it at the butcher store. I thought it would be a pretty easy skill to pick up with my art background, but man it is so technical. I really had to learn to slow down and control my lines. The artistic aspect really shines through with designing concepts and working color theory as well as shading and blending. But as for the skill itself man does it take some practice. Good luck bro its an adventure!!

Here's some flash work I'm doing. Hope to get them colored today...I love drawing this stuff.

I had a 95 SE, forget the year, but thinkin' 2001. It died, over and over again. Timing belt blew and took half the engine with it. Swapped the engine, then the turbo assembly went. Got a new one from Sweden, more expensive than the motor swap, then it started showing signs of the timing belt going again. Fortunately, it met the BEST end possible - my wife got rear ended by a F-150 that completely collapsed the trunk. It was totalled. Since I kept it in great shape and had receipts for the major work, we ended up getting a good chunk out of it towards another vehicle. I did like driving that car. It was definitely peppy - 3.0L turbo - but the expense of fixing it was just hell on us. So, instead of looking for something fun like that again, we went practical - 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. Definitely a lot of room, not nearly as good on gas, but it's a very comfy vehicle for the family. I know, I know... it's a minivan. But, I couldn't fit the kiddo and my Great Dane together in the Saab, so this was a good choice. Plus, it's seating for 7 with a total of 12 cup holders. How in hell can you argue with that awesome logic?!?!?! (by the by, 3.8L V6 in the van has 20 more horses/tq than the Saab did. Gearing is different, but for a minivan, she is NO slouch!!)

The kit I ordered comes with 2 pieces of practice skin, which I haven't really heard great things about. I'm going to be investing in a lot of grapefruits! When I feel that I'm ready, the wife has volunteered to offer up her skin. That's not going to be for a little while, though!

As for technical stuff, I understand it a bit and I'm good with small details. I'm hoping that will come in handy!

A little "concept art" for my next one:

Nice man that will definitely be cool.

Thanks. Basic idea is steampunk innards, wrist to mid-bicep area. Nothing set in stone that can be directly copied and applied to the arm. I might just draw a bit as I go, ink it over, continue.

In case of zombies... 2 of these are on their way to my house. Ya know, just cuz....

Solid investment haha seriously though bad a$$

Page 3??? Really??? Where is everybody?!?!?!?

Started to tinker with the tat gear last night. My old HS art teacher used to say "draw what you see", so I kinda did...except with a needle... on a grapefruit. :D

should get a pig corpse to practice on

Pig skin works well for getting your machines tuned, but I have to say nothing reacts like human flesh...its a damn tricky canvas.Invalid Link Removed

This is the last piece I did...this person is alive btw no cadavers LOL

I lied this is not the last piece I did, but the last piece I have a picture of.

Sat down on Saturday night with a buddy who can do ink and watched him do his own leg. Nothing big, just some flames to accent something that he already had. But, I got to design the flames! :D After watching him, I really really have the itch to shave my arm and start on myself. I'm extremely nervous, but the urge is strong!!

Do it man. I would try a leg first though it's easier to stretch the skin

Did this one last night on my buddy. Getting better I had to use one of my old machines though because the wire on my capacitor snapped. Doesn't put the color in as nice as I'd like.

shave your ass and do that instead. at least it won't be visible if it turns out bad

Green - I know, but I don't want anything on my leg! lol

E - Good point, but a bit hard to see back that way.

I hear ya man. I'm picky about where my ink goes too. You may be able to have somebody hold the skin down on your arm for you to make life easier. If the skins not taught your lines will blow out and it'll be difficult to get the ink into the skin. Not saying don't do it but keep this in mind.

Well aware. If I attempted my forearm, I'd only be able to reach so much and would have to have my buddy do the other parts. I'm thinking of pressing my arm into a table and rolling it slightly to stretch the skin one way, then use my machine hand to stretch the other way a bit.

Sounds perfect

Did a little tinkering again last night! First grapefruit was with a single liner, but really, though... who is going to use a single? It'd hurt like hell! So I bumped up to a 5RL and had a little fun freehanding some junk. I want to get used to the feel of it, and so far so good. I realize that I suck at drawing circles anymore, especially inking in on a globe-shaped object! But eh... Practice makes perfect! Here's some shots:

A Clockwork Orange! LOL (Ok, so it's a grapefruit. I have big hands...)

A little bike action. To the left, you can see some flames. I just did a ring of hotrod flames around one to start out. Might go back and try my hand at shading them a bit.

Thanks, Mich. Haven't practiced on anything in a few days, but I'm formulating ideas... Found this pic online this morning and REALLY like the idea behind it. Very similar to what I want to do. Mega-shading work to make it pop.

That's awesome. The values are incredible especially where the tubes and such appear to be under the skin around the edges.

That is probably the best tat I've ever seen.

I agree this one is really good and would look great.def a convo starter everywhere you go.

I know that I have the artistic skill to sketch or paint that. I just lack the technical knowledge and experience with the tat machine to do it. But... gotta start somewhere! I'm off tomorrow, wife is at work, and kiddo is at the sitter's. If I get bored and ballsy enough, I may make a run at this. Well, not exactly that one, but of my own design, same concept, and using what I see in the shading there to make it more realistic. I'll go under side of my left arm so it can be hidden. The top of my arm and more visible parts will follow suit when skills improve. I'll be workin on it with a buddy.

def can't wait to see what you draw up.thats a sick tat.

Im working on one of these for a friend

Did a first draft to get a feel for the tatt and see what exactly he wants here it is

There is no shading yet so no depth to the pic but we decided it needs more integration to actual bones like having hydraulics matching where the bones are and not just random metal scraps everywhere.. goin on the front of bicep/forearm. workin on 2nd draft now to integrate all the pieces better too

I've seen some amazing bio mechanicals but some horrible ones too
